awesome
I really love the artwork and the cover graphic, awesome job!
The artwork for this is just neat!
I really love Point and click adventure games, and this is one is awesome! If only it was a bit longer.... and also the graphics look really good together, nothing looks out of place.
It was a fun little game with cool artwork. Making a little point & click in 72 hours seems quite difficult! Except for the inventory bug, it's all good, and the difficulty is well balanced.
Awesome experience in an overlooked genre.
consider marking the windows download properly on itch so it's playable through the itch-app.
@local-minimum Thanks for trying out my game, mate. What do you mean by that? Our game was created in AGS (Adventure Game Studio), which unfortunately doesn't support playing through the browser.
@iluvatar if you mark your game's download as for windows on `itch.io` then I can run it in the `itch`-app. It's on the settings page right next to the download file.
Short but fun game!looks and plays nice.
So now for some more useful comments about the game: I really liked the art style, that it didn't really look much like any other LD game. That was really nice. There are also way to few adventure games. Theme was interesting in combination with how adventure games tend to become harder the more things you are happening to be carrying at the moment. Unfortunately I didn't really understand the games logic so I got next to nowhere. I made a CPU chip, but there was no place to put it. I also made a metal bucket, and it seemed reasonable to fill it with the only liquid there was around but it was not possible for it to take oil. The dropping of items was also quickly making me not want to keep trying since it didn't respect what I had selected as thing to drop. Instead it dropped in order of being picked up. Which meant that if I had made the bucket and picked up the oil, I couldn't drop the oil without it first dropping the bucket and then I had to start over again with the bucket.
@local-minimum Thank you very much for your comment. Yeah, we are aware of some non-logical elements that we oversaw during the development. We should have given it more thought. In our defence, even though it is a jam, we had to finish everything before 48 ours, because of work and other real life stuff. Another thing is that I'm not that good with coding, so I spent a lot of time trying to figure stuff out, in other words - we had different kind of troubles than oils and vessels :) . I know these are just bad excuses, but I hope the game isn't as bad as I was afraid it would be and it will make at least some of the jammers happy playing it. We definitely will learn from our mistakes and your comments and feedback, guys, help us a lot.
@iluvatar oh don't take my comment too harshly. I know all too well about the limitations of the jam. My first LD I did without having even tried out anything in the game engine (Unity) before the theme was announced and boy did I struggle. Take the critique as the points I found most hurting what might otherwise have been an excellent experience. One possible improvement could have been to have given a really simple task to make me as a player more invested in my own progress. Another one, that is sometimes found in adventure games is that the character or the world starts helping the player by hinting stuff like "I wonder if the bucket couldn't be used to carry something with some quality to repair the window" or similar after it had detected that I tried to bucket things for a while. But you already had an impressive amount of text so it would be asking a lot to fit that into the jam.
Reminds me of Monkey Space Island. Your game is polished and the puzzle is well worked-out. The art is gorgeous btw - its the highlight of your game in my opinion. Have you thought about adding speech to all the dialogs? Also, you could try to animate the space in the background for a bit eye-candy. But thats critique on a high level - I really love the art style. Kinda like the old Commander Keen games from id Software. Well done!
The art is beautiful, and the puzzles needed some thoughts (Albeit the inventory deletion bug made it quite infuriating). Just wish there was some more explanations sometimes (Like when trying to put the Fuel Liquid inside the Fuel tank without the metal vessel, or trying to put the iron directly onto the engine ...). The mood was well set up, and the audio was in par with the mood. Overall, this is a good entry ! Awesome job !
For some reason the engine kept saying that 'it's already fixed', so that was a bit weird. Other than that, I do love the graphics of the game! There could be some additional polish with the animations though - I wish the spaceship's jet engine in the cutscene would get some love there. The music loops were great too. Thank you for making the game!
Thank you all guys for your feedback. It is more than appreciated!
- @shozou Yeah, we are aware of that, I had a problem with global variables in this case. I couldn't find a solution for this. However, I will not fix it now, since I am very much against any changes in the game AFTER the jam ends. I'll fix it as soon as ratings are over.
- @fluffy-kaeloky That was kind of the feature, in meaning that you had to figure out in what order you put items to your inventory. But I understand it sounds better on paper than in the game itself. Again, it was too late to change it. I hope it wasn't that much of an issue for you, and you enjoyed the game at least a litte bit.
- @frittatenbank Thanks man! I wouldn't dare to compare our game to Monkey Island masterpiece, but we really appreciate that. Regarding the voice acting. We had the equipment for that, but I think it would have only ruined the mood of seemingly "loneliness" feeling we tried to achieve. If there was a voice it would have been "too alive"... I don't know how to explain this, sorry. Plus our English is not on such high level to voice over a game :)
Interesting approach to point’n’click adventure game. Pixel graphics looks good and BGM fits perfectly for this game.
It would have been better if you highlighted interactable parts in some way, because I missed a lot of things at first and was stuck for quite a while. Also, as it was mentioned by some comments above, some interactions were a little bit confusing, but I think that’s because of the crafting system. And I’ve been able to finish it after all, so it’s not such a big deal.
Besides that, it’s a nice adventure game, with some funny jokes and interactions.
I played your game live on stream! Detailed feedback on it can be found around the 20 minute mark: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298886771
@ildfuglen Hello mate. Thanks a lot for playing and rating our game. It is not perfect (far from it), but we tried :-) . Regarding the innovation, well I think we just picked a wrong genre, haha. There isn't much to be done about making new innovative adventure game.
Awesome game. I was pleasantly suprised with the overall mood of the game. Hope you develop a post jam version for this!
@iluvatar You did a good job :) I enjoyed playing
Love the retro art style, combined with the music it created a very nice mood for this game. I would have preferred some more hints about what items to combine, the puzzles weren't the most logical so I ended up trying everything with everything.
Overall, great job!
Brilliant Artwork and terrific mood on this stellar Point n Click LDJam Game! Well Done!
Nice game, I hope to see more updates and improvments sooner. If you don't bother take a look at our game when we focused on Graphics and visuals and see the results that we got: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42
wow this is just amazing, everything about it is so good, but I would like to say just how much I loved the art style too
Great game with nice graphics and gameplay, great job ;)
