Throwing Science Out The Window! by SimplePotential 2018-08-17T16:45:11Z
Nice game! Really like the randomness of the game! Car physics are little bit weird at some points but otherwise good game!

Nice game! Really like the randomness of the game! Car physics are little bit weird at some points but otherwise good game!
Cool game! Graphics are really good and gameplay is fun!
Really interesting idea I haven't seen anything like this before! I liked the graphics a lot and nice to see you put some humor in the game too!
Best game I have seen thus far. I really like the graphics and "chancing" gameplay.
Nice game! Impressive that you made the whole game in just 3 hours. The music is nice and action like. Apart from some collision bugs a really fun experience!
Cool game really liked the low gravity controls. Physics based objects were cool as well! Music was great too :^). I just wished the game would have been longer :)
Nice and polished game! I like the minimal graphics. More enemies and weapons would been nice but overall a fun game!
The music is really good and I think it goes well with the game! Graphics are cool and it's fun to push around to physics objects! Only "negative" thing I have to say that the shooting and moving animations maybe I little too exaggerated. But overall a really fun game!
I really like the drawn art style of the graphics. Fighting the boss was fun and I really liked its attack patterns. Little bit more health would have been nice because I found the game pretty hard (or I just suck at the game). Overall a fun experience and interesting backstory.
Interesting platformer. Graphics could have been better but I'm not that good at making them either :P. Music was good but the game could have used some sound effects. Gameplay was ok and I liked the differend lvl's. The menus were good as well. Overall a good game and I hope to see you in next Ludum Dare :D
Really interesting idea! Gameplay was good and I liked you draw for the game!
@wrimo Thank you! Yeah I really like the music too. :P
@oneiros Thanks! But yeah I'm still working on my artistic skills :)
@addvector Great to hear that you enjoyed the music (and the game)!
@barrier Yeah wierd that we came up with the same idea :o I haven't had time to check out your game but the gui and graphics look great!
@chocolat-endive Glad to hear you enjoyed the game! Balancing for this game was quite hard so I'm happy to hear that I got it to a *good* point. Thanks for the review!
@johnyf Thanks! I came up with the idea by accident when I was trying to make a gravity based space platformer :p
@beelzeboss Great to hear that!
@lemadec Thanks! I had a resolution setting in mind but didn't have time to implement it.
@cristi-aby Glad you liked it! And that's a pretty nice score as well!
@oskarolausson Really great to hear you enjoyed it!
To answer you questions:
1. Movement of the satellites is controlled by paths. When I made the paths I didn't know how to "code" them in so I made them by hand. So one ring is 8 differend paths so I didn't have time to make more.
2. Satellites crashing in orbit was a bug a thought I fixed. :/ I think the reason for random explosion still happening is due to rotation of the satellites. When the satellites spin around them selfs their hitboxes rotate too. And sometimes if the satellites are really close to each other their hitboxes collide.
Thanks for asking those questions it was fun to answer them. :D
@gleb-shishov Glad you liked it! :D
@oskarolausson Thanks for the help! I will be trying those things and if I get them to work I will make a new versio of the game :p
@stefan-jovanovic Thanks! I had a menu made but it looked so unpolished and bad that I didn't put it in. xd
@simplepotential Glad you liked it! And thanks for the suggestion I will try to put it in the new build when I make one.
@simogecko Great to hear you liked it! ps. your game was awesome
@prodigalson Yeah, I could try to add differed kinds of "gamemodes". That's a good idea thanks!
@laminariy Thanks! Yeah, I think the music is the best part of the game. xd
@mrjorts Thanks for those ideas I will try to add them!
Nice game! Gameplay was fun and the music was catchy. Differed enemies would have been nice and the movement speed is in my opinion too high. But overall a fun game!
Cool game! Graphics are really nice and gamaplay is good! Really like the 2 healthbar system so you have to balance between your own health and ships health. Only feedback that I have is that attacking and taking damage could have had a sound effects.
The game is really overwhelming at first but when you get the hang of it it's ok. Sound and music are good. Gameplay is really good and there is lot of strategy involved. Even tho I tried to beat the game really hard I wasn't able to beat it so I can't say anything about to ending. Gui could have used a little bit more polish. Overall I had a really fun time playing the game!
Cool game and a great idea! I really liked the unusual movement style (side rockets and ect.). Next time you could maybe put some pictures up on this page about your game. It could bring more players!
Yes, it's annoying but also fun. I really liked the weirdness and oddness of the game.
Great shoot em up game! I really like to hordes of enemies. Next time you should use .zip if that's possible!
I agree with that the movement is weird. But the graphics are nice (specially the particles)! I found this game really hard at the start but after that it's really fun!
Idk is it just me but I can't see the download links :c
Characters textures and animation looked really good! and the game had a nice constant art style. The followers where cutely animated and death animations on those skeletons had a really nice pop to them. I think you had a good base game.
I experienced few crashes when I and a slime hit each other at the same time. I hp bar would have been nice but I understand that you had limited time to create features. I hope we will see a pos jam game with more polish. All the shortcomings aside, what you had time to make was great!
The lighting was really something else. I haven't seen that kind of strong use of lighting in a 2D game before. It was really cool to see the aliens glowing while they charged towards me. The second lighting mode was a little bit weird for me. I thing the lights really made the game pop. I hope you will find more interesting uses for that lighting system in the future. The gameplay was unique. I think it combined elements of different genres well.
Controls felt really sluggish to me. I would have liked way more snappier controls. But movement felt fast and I liked how you could dodge using your double jump and momentum. I saw that you had 5 person team working on this game and I think it shows really well in the polish of the game. I really enjoyed playing the game because of that polish!
I liked the genre of the game. It's been a while since I have seen a horror game in ld. After reading the who to play I got a good grasp of the game. I would have liked if the monitor had a digital font or something like that. The randomly generated layouts gave the game nice roguelike feeling. The graphics were little repetitive, I would have liked to see some color variation on the floors and walls of the ship. The title screen looked nice and interesting. I hope you continue to participate in Ludum Dare!
Reminds me of Don't Starve (mainly the gameplay). I think the game has quite a good amount of content for a jam game. The graphics suited the game style but the water was little bit off putting. Sadly after playing for a while i lost my workbench and couldn't craft anything. Overall a good game that would benefit a lot from little amount of polish.
Holy moly! that was fun. I was just thinking to myself that we need to see more boomer shooters :) Almost didn’t play it due to the lack of screenshots or info text. But I understand wanting to keep the surprise a secret. Maybe misleading gamepage could work?
Ambientmusic/sounds were great. I really like the visuals on the glowing glyphs, particles and the shader work. I understand the need for large UI elemets, but I still would have hoped to see more of the screen. I think that would have upped the ambience even more! Polish on the animations and movement system would have helped, but can't have time for everything👍
Hit animations and sounds were great! It's really satisfying to shoot those daggers. I would have loved to see some 2D lighting effects but unlit is a style too :) Enemy sprite work was great but in comparison world tiles could use a little more detail. Great work!🙂
Beautiful menu animation! I enjoyed the manipulation of physic objects👍 Collisions were a bit funky but not game breaking by any means. Interesting mix of 2D and 3D graphics, we tried that in our game too. I think that adding shadows would help a lot! I found the way the creatures scatter when you approach them quite funny😁
Throwing the creatures was fun! I don’t know why, but it was the highlight of the game for me😁 Nice animation on the creatures, that walk looks surprisingly good! Some shadows would be nice as I didn’t even realize that there were no walls and walked off the platform😂 Got to give props for the unique idea too, nice job!
A very beautiful retro shader especially liked how images looked through it. The constant white line flashing effect is a bit of a nuisance. The descriptions of the battles are intriguing. The descriptions, sounds and slower nature of text-based games create a nice ambience! 👍
Nice menu graphics. I liked how to squares is the background showed the progression of the growth. The color differences made it clear what I could eat, good decision! Didn’t see any threats though. Good entry, I liked that the gameplay was polished enough! 👍 Näyttökuva 2024-10-25 203451.jpeg
I definitely like the idea and haven't seen a game of this type before! Humanoid models are rather impressive, and the environment is good too. But I think the whole presentation would largely benefit from some shadows and lights, maybe a bit of post processing too? Jumping felt great while the camera was a bit funky. Nice submission, especially for one done in a day 👍
Bruh :D Definitely the weirdest LD game I have played thus far. But I play these games to find the odd ones so that is good! 😁I can see the humor in this one and the graphics were quirky but good. Hand animation reminded me of a claw machine. If this idea is taken further, I could see a goofy puzzle game👍
Uuu beautiful graphics! I definitely see the inspiration 😊Most of the models look really good (I specially like the tanker) and the texture work fits in great! The sheen on the metallic surfaces looks good but I think there is little too much of it on some surfaces. Jumping feels a bit floaty but otherwise solid controls. I was positively surprised by the running animation and ending cutscene, rare to see those in LD games👍The room before the green place gave me Portal vibes! Some of the parts were little dark and I couldn’t figure out where the floor ended and void began, otherwise great lighting! Overall A tier ambiance!
Great animations and effects! I do like the art too, but it gets a bit repetitive with the background. Slime looks awesome and enemies are good too. Upgrade text is a bit small to read. I do agree with the other comments, the core gameplay loop is addicting!
I think the gameplay loop is solid and quite unique! All of the mechanics that exist work well and they were quite quick to understand. Including basic strategy as an instruction was a good idea. While the graphics are basic the camera animations (highlighting your actions) are great!
First, I thought that the game was going for a mario bros clone, but it turned out to be much more unique! Lots of stuff going on but I feel like it is still on the manageable level. Text and units feel a bit small. Coin physics are satisfying. Interesting take on TOWER-defense :D
Interesting art style and font, good choices with those! The tutorial phase was a good addition and I think it is implemented quite naturally with the story. Nice animations with the cards and scene transitions! Doing plot in a LD game is always a challenge but I think you struck a balance between text and gameplay.
One thing I would change would be the pay chance coloring. Going from green-red to blue-red would be easier to see if one has color blindness :)
The final track from the battery room back to my ship was surprisingly thrilling, great job with the atmosphere! I did not get stuck on any puzzles so that is always good :) Little more difficulty could work, but of course that would be harder to balance. Good map size too, I was able to keep it in my mind complete which was great for fast progression.
Controls deemed daunting at first but due to the reasonable turning rates, speed and spacious caverns they worked out in the end. Great hud and good usage of dynamics lights. I was expecting something tragic when the energy ran out :D
Interesting tech stack behind the game! Loads super fast so that is nice compared to unity web builds :) Core idea is fun but quite hard. I like the idea of using colorful graphics, but at least on my screen slightly more brightness and saturation would be nice. Physics from scratch is really impressive, so extra points for that.
Took me a while to see that the bandit scaling meant them running to the horizon, but after I saw it that way I think it works quite well :D Nostalgic art style which for some reason fits westerns. Core gameplay loop works well, of course it could benefit from more levels and such but one doesn't have time for everything :)
Really cool and unique idea! Really wish you had more time to do more lvls.
Well I broke to site. :(
Really cool and unique idea! Really wish you had more time to do more lvls.

Really cool and unique idea! Really wish you had more time to do more lvls.
Why did this happen.
@RAFFE How do i delete plz hjelp
Good game! Great music and cool art style in the 2d world.
Nice and clean art style, I like that it was used through out the whole game consistently. Did not feel directly cozy but quite chill😊 Game length was also great. Some visualisations would have been nice for the signals, but otherwise good stuff.
Chose to descent and survived(?). Very unique idea but I do agree with the other comments that subtitles and better graphics (especially with the signal part) would be nice. Good choice to keep the signals findable even if you missed them from the audio.
Yea, I did it! The searching part felt a bit long but once I found IT the game got real intense and I really enjoyed that. Luckily, I read from the comments that IT likes red flares that helped a lot. Maybe giving some in-game lore hints to that could help? Anyways, awesome postprocessing and atmosphere. Map for the anomaly location could be a good addition as well. Overall, good stuff :)
Nestori Miikkulainen really does have some extraordinary skills :D The cannons were just at the right difficulty, not too easy ball speed but not too hard, great job with that balancing! Was waiting for 4th level, but maybe a good thing not to extend it too much. I felt the size of our team in the amount of polish each part of the game got, such a nice mixture of different talents.
I felt that there was not really any point in using the closer zoom modes, other than admiring the art. The fully zoomed out view worked nicely for me the whole time.
I had weird bug that my fps would drop staying on the web build browser tab for a long time, luckily it fixed itself after switching tabs and coming back to the game. Anyways, that what I get for using firefox and not something chromium based...
Amazing song at the end too :)
Nice pixel art graphics and cozy atmosphere. Understood the gameplay and controls straight away so that is really good! I got 1230 points, no I if that is good or bad :D Would be nice to have some ranks or something to compare the score against :) Was not too long as well. More content is something to strive for, but I do agree that polish is more important.
Definitely have not played anything similar to this before, which is good! Or maybe the object throwing reminded me a bit of Control’s gameplay. Quite difficult, especially with couple of bugs I encountered. While impressive maybe the controls for throwing could be simplified? Would suit the quick pace better. Use of motion capture is very cool and I can believe that the process of making the animations must have been interesting :)
Charming while basic graphics. I do like the idea of a simple HTML and JS based game. Don’t see those much compared to Unity and Godot web builds. Some sort of goal to strive towards would be nice.
