Thanks Stefan. Very cool.

Thanks Stefan. Very cool.
I love your graphics and sound effects ! It's easy to play. I love it ! Animations are pretty cool too !
The game is really good. Only thing is the impact of the sword is really low. Make the wind up for the animation longer, the swing longer, add a bit of screen shake maybe... more impactful sound. Everything's great, but the feel of the sword is way off. Otherwise keep up the great work :D
@quorusa Thanks :slight_smile:
@justinsix I am definitely going to continue working on the game. Thank you for the feedback.
I m sorry if its obvious but what are the controls ? arrows OK, but i can't use my sword
It's a really nice looking game, but the sword swing feels a little too subtle, sometimes I wasn't sure if I was even hitting the enemies, so a larger swing and a more obvious hit effect would be nice. Also just a small thing, but a quit button would be nice on the menu. Anyway, really great job!
Fun little game, I love the graphics; The little pirates look so innocent I don't want to kill them! I wish there was a way to heal myself.
The game looks really good, I really like the art. I didn't really liked the gameplay tho, mostly because the weapon didn't feel useful at all. Maybe I didn't hear it but a sound effect on a hit would be really great, and maybe the screen should shake more on a hit and some slicing animation. But I guess I can't complain too much since you had a small period of time to make it.
Nice game. However I don't really understand why mouse focus/attack was chosen as opposed to gamepad/keyboard keys. There seems to be very little that the mouse does (left/right) and then again space repairs. Why not right click?
Keep it up.
@tontonpizza Arrows or WASD for movement, left mouse button for attack and space button for repairing holes on the ship.
@doey I was planning to add sound effects and a better animation for sword and combat overall but just didn't have much time, but I will definitely add that. Thanks for the feedback.
@sundancekid Thank you for the feedback.
@rebdc I will improve overall weapon mechanic for sure. Thanks for the feedback.
@stateoff First of all thanks. I tried transfering controls to keyboard only, but for some reason it just didn't feel right. And to be honest I just forgot to try using right mouse button for repairing, but it is really good idea.
That's a cool game! It will be so much more cool if have any music, but that's ok!
That was actually really well done :) !! The pixel art is awesome and the gameplay, though difficult was still very enjoyable ! Also good job for adding sound effects, it makes a big difference ! Keep up the great work !
@pedro-m-marangon I planned to add music but I didn't have enough time. I will be adding music in the future updates. Thanks for the feedback.
@noa-calice Thanks for such a nice feedback.
Neat little game! It was hard to tell if I was doing any damage. It was more of like running around hacking wildly. The most I made was round 3.
@eric-smith I will definitely work on combat system more. Thanks for the feedback.
Currently the game is very boring I played 3 waves and I closed it, the game looks like a mouse and cat game, chase and kill.
The game has potential with the addition of some mechanics. The rest is great.
@5spectra I currently have some additional mechanics in mind, so I will be adding them to the game.
awesome graphics! The game is really fun, but I dindt actually find the theme
@vlassis Thanks for the feedback!
Nice concept! more sound effects and some music please
This game is very pretty. However swinging the sword felt very awkward and I couldn't tell if i was hitting the enemies. I think adding some pixel blood effects would really fit with this game's aesthetic and add a lot to the overall feel of the game.
@athcore More sound effects and music is definitely coming in the next update! Thanks for the feedback!
@dnp Combat system is something I will definitely "repair". Thank you for the feedback and suggestions!
I like Your game concept and Your graphics. But it would be lovely to see more complex fighting mechanics, because for now, it's just running around and smashing rapidly LMB and what's worse, there's no way of avoiding damage(at least I haven't found) or healing the character. And don't get me wrong, but I don't see there "Running out of space" theme. Maybe You could mechanics that player can't go through holes made by pirates. Anyway good job and good luck, if You decide to work on project!
@corqi First of all thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I will definitely improve combat system and add more mechanics to the game. I wanted to add some ship sinking effect which would fit nicely with the theme but didn't have the time to do that!
Tricky curve but a nice entry! My feedback would be to name your project it's title and not LudumDare42. When people download several games at once it makes it a lot harder to know which is which. Good jam overall though, nice work.
I like a lot about this game and had fun. Be sure to post a blog about it if you continue development so we can play it again :)
@designernap Thanks for the feedback! I forgot to name the executable properly as I was rushing to publish the game! 😅
@simplepotential I will post a blog when I publish an update! Glad you liked the game!
I think its quite a cool idea. I feel like the enemies spawning per wave is a bit to random. For example, there was a point on the second wave where all the enemies that entered were pirates with guns - Then eventually the ship sank, which i though was unfair.
With this kind of game, i feel like it should start with one enemy, then two... basically start slowly and build up enemies.
Having said that, for a compo game, the amount of game that you made is impressive.
@mza I was aiming for more enemies that are destroying ship than those that are attacking you, but I agree that it still needs adjustments! Thanks for great ideas!
Cool game! Graphics are really nice and gamaplay is good! Really like the 2 healthbar system so you have to balance between your own health and ships health. Only feedback that I have is that attacking and taking damage could have had a sound effects.
@jokku Thanks for such a nice feedback. I have already started improving combat sStem.
Nice Work! great art and sounds. the reach of the sword seemed very short though maybe a bigger and longer swing would be cool
@sthor726 Thanks for the feedback! I will improve sword animations!
We also did a pirate game (although in our game the ship is already sinking ;-))
Some polishing on the game would be great (animation, sound, hitting feedback), I liked the overall art, especially of the player and enemys.
@gilborn Thanks for the feedback! I am currently improving game. I will check your game too!
Nifty game! Looks great, and plays quite good. I wish for a way to replenish health. Also, during the "next round" button display you can still run around an repair the ship :)
@endurion I didn't have enough time to add some kind of health regeneration, but will definitely be adding that! I wanted player to be able to prepare for the next round by repairing the ship so when he is ready he can just press next round! Thanks for nice feedback!
Lol at first I thought the controls were space, mouse, and ONLY arrow keys to move...I was like I don't have 3 hands. But WASD and space was manageable though. The graphics are fantastic. It got hard pretty fast, as you said, but I feel the gameplay would be more fun if I could one-shot enemies, especially at the start (or diff types of enemies). Because chasing them down is really the heart of this game of tag anyways, right? And the one-shotting power trip would just be so satisfying.
@jerripo I am currently working on the update and I have made hole gameplay easier by lowering down amount of enemies spawned at each round, and I also plan on adding upgradability during the gameplay so you can make your sword stronger and some similar things! Thanks for the nice feedback and stay tuned for future update!
- **Music**
- **Enemy hit indicator**
- **Sword sound**
- **Sword animation**
- **Quit button**
- **Less enemies are spawning each wave**
- **Bug fixes**
Fun game ! The new version add a lot of cool things !
@ryomayonnaise Thanks for playing, glad you liked it!
Awesome game! really enjoyed the mood and graphics for this entry!
Just an FYI, the repair action seems to be bound to right click rather than space.
@the-icy-one The original build used space for repair, but I changed it in the version 1.1 to the RMB!
@zicboy Thanks for such a nice feedback!
Nice game. I like the different between the player's health, which goes down each hit he gets, in relation to the ship's health, which goes down automatically when there are holes in the ship. That really makes you think of what to do first (repair or fight). I got to level 5 :)
@ely-shaffir Thanks for the feedback! I really wanted players to think what is more important to them at the moment, ship's or your own health, and wanted them to balance between these two!
P.S. Nice score!
really cool game, nice graphics, you could have made the hold click to attack instead of click click click click, as most of the time I was just keep smashing the click, more weapon types could be more interesting but I guess time limit didn't let you develop the game more
The game didn't go with the theme as you were not running out of space, the ship was just getting destroyed and its health decreased, adding the mechanics where you wont be able to walk on holes, would fix these, but you will have to make sure that the don't make holes near stairs or the entry.
also another point, you should have made enemies weapon a drill instead of a gun, it might look more funny and accurate
Good Job!!!
@adam-saudagar First of all thanks for the feedback! I wanted to add some effect of water leaking inside the ship but didn't have a time for that! I will definitely add something like that in the next update! Hold to click and more weapon types is a great idea and I plan to have some kind of upgrade system or the shop for the player! Enemies with a drill is also a great idea and I will definitely consider it!
Nice game! Enjoyed it! Some health would have helped keep playing longer sessions :)
Keep it
@swess Glad you liked it! Health regeneration is coming in the next update! Stay tuned!
I really like the overall concept here. The controls (I played version 1.1) felt great, and the breather between the waves were nice. It's quite simple, but challenging and fun. The only thing I missed a bit were a way to progress. I think it would be really cool if the enemies spawned stuff after you kill them. Like a little healthpack or maybe a weapons upgrade or something similar.
@awesomealliterationalliance Thanks for the feedback! Pickups and upgrade system is coming in the future updates(probably next one) so stay tuned for that!
That a lot of comments! Not sure if it was mentioned already but I would suggest to add a random pitch to the sword sound. Obviously many sounds are missing but it is not that big of a deal especially this being a compo game. Otherwise visuals are nice and music is pretty good. Nicely scoped and executed game, I liked it :)
@antonsem I have improved audio a lot since the original build and will definitiely continue on improving it! I will randomise pitch of the sword attack as well! Thanks for the nice feedback and I'm glad you liked the game!
Cool! Nice idea
This game is very good, the idea is cool the audio is simple but cool, the graphics is very good I like your style ^^
@andrei9 Thanks! :smile:
@loudrasiel Thanks for the nice feedback!
Fun! I wish I could mash a key instead of using my mouse, and I'll have to try the 1.1 version later.
Tried to rate, but no Mac or HTML version.
@uvwar Thanks for the feedback! I tried changed controls to keyboard only, but it didn't feel right for some reason! :mouse_three_button:
@chadrbanks I will try to add mac and linux build tomorrow so I will inform you if I succesfully do it!
So I played both versions, gonna rate you on the original but will give feedback for the new version.
Love that you added music, sound effects for hitting and visual indicators for hitting the pirates. I would like to hear a sound when hitting the pirates as well, like a sword 'thunk' or the pirates going 'oof'. Same goes when you get hit by a pirate. Adding the visual and audio cue that you are taking damage would make it feel a bit more visceral.
A graphic of water coming out of the holes that are made by the pirates would convey a bit better that the ship is sinking constantly.
Those are just quality of life enhancements. Something you could add to the game that wouldn't take much is power ups. Off the cuff you could have a power up for player speed up, patch a random hole/repair hull on the ship, player health kit, temporary upgrade to a gun for a one shot kill on a pirate.
Feel free to use or ignore any of these suggestions, just my two cents. Love the art style!
Have fun out there!
@phlip45 Thanks for such a nice and detailed feedback! I will take everything you suggested into consideration and a lot of things will probably end up in the future update so stay tuned for that!
@stefan-jovanovic I loved the game art and the sound effects too. Its a nice little game to have fun with. Great man congrats. Do play and rate our game too.
@abhis1kadian Thanks for nice feedback! I will be checking your game, no worries!
Nice game! Graphics are simple but look good, and is it correct you added some kind of post processing? Gives it a nice touch! Game got hard really quickly indeed but fun to play! :)
@arthur-baars Thanks for the feedback! Yes, there are some post processing effects, the strongest ones in the game are color grading and grain!
Really good grqphics! Congrats. I love when sound is make with the voice ^^. It's so sad that we cannot block attacks
@vivoubos Thanks for the feedback! More complex combat system is coming in the future updates!
Bloody Pirates! Interesting Idea with this. I think it's funny how I run to engage the pirates and they run away to reach havoc on my ship! I would like to see a little more attention in audio, but I really like the art and play-ability of the game. Great Job with this, @stefan-jovanovic!
The game is hard but enjoyable. I like the mechanic's switch. Defending and repairing is an attractive concept. I saw you added a lot of things to version 1.1, so most of my suggestions are meaningless. Well done.
You already played our game: The legend of the looter and the incredible backpack that never runs out of space, so we can't do anything but thank you. 」( ̄▽ ̄」)
I really, really enjoyed this game! The concept is great, the gameplay is also great and the best part I found about this game is the tutorial, which is very clear and concise! Great job, and I mean it!
@ratherjolly Thanks for the feedback! I will definitly continue on improving audio, as well as the every other aspect of the game, so stay tuned for future updates!
@mapedorr @anubhav-kashyap Thanks for such a nice feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
A fun game with decent art. Liked it!
@adrian0901 Thanks for the feedback!
I like the art and mechanics, but as you said, the game comes hard very fast ^^
Maybe it would be interesting to add the fact that you can fall into breaks :)
We had nearly the same mechanic in our game but in 3D :)
Great job, one of a great entry in compo jam !!
@thibaultar Thanks for the nice feedback! I like the idea of falling into ship cracks, I will definitely consider adding that! Also I will check your game too!
I really liked it. Only bug I saw was that the boat keeps sinking when the next round button comes up. Great job though.
@george-lancaster The thing with the next round button is that it comes up when all the enemies are dead, and it gives you time to repair your ship, and press next round button when you are ready, but I'm thinking of some new systems for that! Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it.
You just posted a comment to the video as I am writing this reply, still: Here's the video. Arrrrgh! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLytdAQ0Ig4
@philstrahl Thanks ⚓
