Great rhythm game! Sadly I stink at making music but playing back the notes you put down was a really nice concept. Fits the theme and reminds me of great rhythm games like DJmax and Pop'n music. It controlled well too!

I'm terrible at recording anything good in real time, but it was really funny when I got through all the instruments and got this horrible cacophony of sound through my headphones. Not to mention the literally impossible playback that I had coming at me. Fantastic job, really.
This was hilarious and fun.
I'm ashamed to say that I am actually a musician in real life HERE YOU GO:
{"notes":[[[3,0],[11,0],[18,0],[29,4],[38,0],[48,0],[53,0],[66,1],[74,4],[84,4],[93,4],[102,4],[111,3],[121,3],[126,3]],[[1,4],[24,1],[41,1],[57,1],[58,4],[92,1],[101,4],[111,5],[117,4],[121,3]],[[11,2],[21,1],[25,0],[98,0],[101,1],[105,2],[112,2],[121,2]],[[2,5],[12,5],[31,0],[38,1],[46,2],[50,5],[51,4],[52,3],[66,5],[68,4],[69,3],[85,5],[86,4],[88,3],[96,4],[101,1],[121,5]],[[50,4],[59,4],[69,4],[85,1],[103,0],[105,1],[108,2],[115,2],[123,2]]],"scale":0}
Wow extremely original. I went in blind and at first I thought it was just going to be a cute song creation tool. Then the music notes came falling back down toward me and it turned into a rhythm game. I did have a bit of a hard time realizing when the measure would start loop for each recording... I probably need to work on my rhythm.
I wish I'd payed more attention when recording as I made my rhythm too hard to play back! Great concept., Well executed. As bonus my 4yo son loved it too! Pretty nicely polish for a 3 day jam too :)
That's great and original idea. On the third try I made something listenable :D {"notes":[[[2,3],[18,1],[33,3],[50,1],[64,2],[66,3],[80,1],[82,2],[97,2],[99,1],[113,1],[114,2]],[[20,3],[49,3],[81,3],[113,1]],[[18,1],[48,1],[81,1],[95,3],[96,2],[110,1],[111,2]],[[80,3],[83,3],[95,1],[96,2],[112,0]],[[17,3],[32,1],[80,3],[84,2],[92,1],[108,2]]],"scale":0}
Had so much fun with this!! Really nice work!! :D {"notes":[[[1,5],[8,4],[10,3],[16,5],[17,0],[24,3],[32,4],[33,1],[40,3],[47,4],[49,0],[56,0],[64,5],[65,1],[72,3],[81,0],[87,3],[95,5],[97,1],[103,3],[111,0],[112,4],[120,0],[121,3]],[[0,3],[16,0],[24,0],[48,0],[55,1],[56,1],[64,3],[80,0],[81,0],[111,0],[112,0],[118,1],[120,1],[126,3]],[[7,3],[19,0],[33,3],[43,3],[50,0],[72,3],[81,0],[97,0],[106,1],[113,0]],[[18,4],[33,5],[51,3],[80,5],[88,5],[97,3],[114,4]],[[16,5],[58,4],[66,3],[80,2],[96,1],[112,0]]],"scale":0}
nice concept :D but ended in pure chaos! :D i think there is a major problem: the two keys right from [L] do not work on a non US(?) keyboard layout.
on a german keyboard layout, its the following:
[;] = [Shift] + [,]
['] = [Shift] + [#]
I have'nt be able to record anything nice, it seems that there is some slight lag input here. The game is fun with the chaos, but i feel that it could be a real little rythm game. The only things it would need would be to have some kind of pre-set chords, so the notes would have some kind of variation, and a little quantization for the rythm in the "first part". And then we could play a rythm game on a "listenable tune". But as I said, it is fun as it is!
Good job! It is simple, easy to understand, and fun!
wow, fantastic and new to me at JAMs. great visual, sound;) and idea :clap: :clap: :clap:
Thanks for all the kind comments and feedback everyone! Definitely hear the feedback about it being hard to make nice music - there were a lot of details related to rhythm / audio timing that I wasn't able to dig into during the jam. Glad people still had fun though - hopefully there's some charm even to particularly horrible tunes :)
@protowlf @gorr @chase-of-bass - Thanks for sharing! I'm happy I added that song data feature - it's fun seeing songs other people come up with! (note for others: if you're copying the json from a comment, you'll need to replace the double quote characters with standard ascii double quotes for it to work in game)
@yoko-san - Ah, thanks for pointing that out, will keep that in mind for the future!
I like your band, the characters look all very cute. ^^ That was a very fun idea and it's very rewarding to hear the full ensemble when playing your recorded track. Great job!
Great idea for the theme, I enjoy little toys like this. I can only make horrible music though :joy:
Played this a handful of times with my four year old, we both had a blast! Great jam submission.
LOL I thought this was just a loop music creation game so I spammed the notes, then got absolutely destroyed when they came back the other way.
Great idea! unfortunately it seems very hard to make something that sounds good, the notes get overlayed way too much for it to sound coherent, but I enjoyed the playing back part nonetheless
JAMS! Only thing i'd like is a way to reset quickly if I mess up, but love it (: Love it

Very neat idea for a game! The art and sounds are super cute, and suddenly it turns into a rhythm game!! As a non-musician, I had a lot of fun struggling make something half-decent haha The only thing I disliked was your choice of controls cause I think it's a bit hard to press L, ; and ' in rhythm. But maybe it's a problem with different keyboard layouts around the world? Also in the web version in my PC I felt like there was bit of lag in the inputs. But overwall really nice work!
This is such a cool idea! Didn't see the twist coming that you had to play the piece at the end :D Well done! Love the choice of instruments and how everything just came together once you were playing the song <3
And being able to share your music with others is just the next level! <3 As a cellist, I commend you very much ^_^
Haha reminds me of the times when I wrote guitar parts that I couldn't play myself :laughing: Anyway, game is AWESOME! :heartbeat: :musical_score:
So clever to make a music creation tool where you can play back the song you recorded! Unfortunately I have no musical bones in my body so my music sounded awful haha! The character art is wonderful and all the feedback is nice and juicy. Well done!
Hah great concept! Like some others said maybe using ASD JKL would be a bit safer (still breaking on French keyboards though :D), fortunately I have both Finnish and US keyboard layouts so I could play this properly. It took a couple of tries to understand the system recording two loops and my first couple of songs were a total mess (well my later ones were too, but a bit less :D). The rhythm game section worked well and the hit detection was pretty well adjusted and felt good to play. The sounds are great by themselves but I think baking some reverb into them (or using some at runtime) would make especially the drums sound a bit less harsh. Ah and the art is cute as well!
Final masterpiece: ``` {"notes":[[[2,3],[15,0],[16,3],[32,3],[47,0],[48,3],[64,3],[79,3],[80,0],[95,3],[110,3],[111,0],[126,3]],[[14,0],[49,1],[80,2],[96,1],[105,0],[125,1],[126,3],[127,4]],[[0,5],[34,4],[64,5],[72,2],[81,0],[95,1],[103,2]],[[13,5],[47,0],[62,1],[94,2],[109,3],[123,4]],[[3,2],[13,0],[39,0],[46,0],[62,1],[70,2],[86,4],[95,5],[107,4],[121,3]]],"scale":0} ```
The art is really cute (do post your art somewhere? I would like to take a look if so) and I had good laugh when I realized I have to try to play in the end the mess I recorded before. My big problem is that there's a bit of a delay when playing a note in the recording the part, which make it hard for things to come out the way you want them to. Other than that its a nice entry!
