This feels more like an art installation than a game in the traditional sense. And in that endeavor it is very successful. This is a very personal expression of wholesomeness with a touch of madness just below the surface. This is beautiful and human. And at any rate, it scores highly on the metrics. Might be the only game I award the full five stars to in the mood category. I sat with this for a while. Well done.

Aww, this is delightful... a little buggy with the dialog interactions on my Mac, but floating around chatting with leaves made it worth it.

xlores-liang 2024-10-07 13:22

Impresssivev artstyle!

jemh2k 2024-10-07 23:39

Music and art is beautiful. Feels very 'longing', if that makes sense? Maybe its just catching me at a weird time. 5/5 mood, audio, and graphics. Well done!!

shakirovich 2024-10-07 23:53

Screenshot 2024-10-07 185047.png I hope Im not spoiling fun for anyone, but the dialogues are great, you can sense it right away that person is deep into reflection. Overall very artsy game, would love to see it transforming into something more than that, maybe some simple puzzles.

sted 2024-10-08 00:05

In game writings are really nicely written. Great job and also it really blends amazing to the art style of the game!

irene02 2024-10-08 15:36

This is the one that really surprised me today, an actual piece of art... Absolutely stunning, love how out-of-the-box everything is. Amazing job!

rincat 2024-10-08 16:20

This is the most unique one so far, I love it

prussichger 2024-10-08 16:21

A very unusual theme for a game, as well as style. Something artchaos!

chocolat-endive 2024-10-08 16:22

Really love the *collage* graphics. I'm not sure about the game itself. I love introspective games, but I feel that the game lacks a little something. It may be the music, I'm not sure it fits the mood.

Overall, I enjoyed it, always love this kind of semi-experimental jam games.

fleur 2024-10-08 16:25

Really unique and wholesome little game! Love it, congratulations!

telo-philippe 2024-10-08 16:28

Very poetic experience, I liked a lot just wandering around, with the chill music, and the cute little characters :) Very nice game! And I loooove the look of it, with the photos and all.

lofipop 2024-10-08 16:29

Like the others said, it's a really artful and nice game, with a nice philosophic touch. The collage graphic style is great. I really enjoyed the music theme too, it really sets the mood. Well done ! I'll be checking you itch page, I'm intrigued by your other projects as well

1finiteloop 2024-10-08 16:34

Wow... This looks like a work of art. Such a powerful emotional expression—absolutely amazing!

daniela 2024-10-08 16:58

Love the details!

the-floating-brain 2024-10-08 18:57

I have no idea what is going on but I really like the mood and just running around looking at the environment!

jordantanner 2024-10-08 19:09

The collage-esque visual aesthetic is really nice. The mixed materials and textures make for an interesting visual. I also really enjoy the blurry parallax foreground elements near the beginning of the scene. The chiptune music is very heartfelt, as is the writing in the dialogue. Seems to be aiming to create an emotional reaction in people rather than focusing on gameplay mechanics, which is something I wouldn't have thought to attempt. Really unique entry!

ecaterina 2024-10-08 19:20

This is simply stunning! It's the first time I've seen such an original, creative, and visually pleasing aspect of a game. I immediately showed it to those around me. The music perfectly matches the visuals. Keep it up! Amazing!

nazariglez 2024-10-08 19:49

Beautiful and unique game! The collage-style visuals and chill music create a relaxing atmosphere. The writing adds a thoughtful touch. How big is the world? Well done!

eugen-rantev 2024-10-08 20:04

Love the game, just wish you could select the choices with the LMB!

halgendy 2024-10-08 20:55

Little big planet vibes! You're giving me too much nostalgia. I love the artstyle so so so much.

solidhinken 2024-10-08 22:10

Paper and paralax effects are sick! Great work!

velvetlobster 2024-10-08 23:59

that is a pretty good idea @eugen-rantev we will make sure to add that in the next stages of our development

andrew-michienzi 2024-10-09 01:07

good vibes! I liked this a lot!

coleslaughter 2024-10-09 05:07

This was a very pleasant and relaxing game! The art style and chiptune-y soundtrack complement each other so well!

I do wish there were more characters to interact with. I was kind of disappointed that I ran out of unique NPCs after a few minutes (unless I missed something). Would love to see this expanded upon!

soohee 2024-10-09 10:35

I love playing this game. I want to know the process of making it because I think the idea is really creative. This is my favorite game from this game jam. The interpretation of tiny creatures is also unique, and the approach to game design resonates with the core idea. It was truly an excellent game. Thank you!

velvetlobster 2024-10-09 10:46

you are right @coleslaughter , we do really need more characters ... What happened was that we had very little time to finish the game. We were leaving on Sunday, and we wouldn't be able to do much after that. So we rushed to complete it on the first day, and that's why we ended up with just these characters only ... Certainly, we're planning to expand later and finally implement all the ideas we've wanted to include since the beginning. 😊

Thank you to everyone who is testing and providing feedback. I'll make sure we take a look at all of your games. 😊

karenchik 2024-10-09 11:07

A very cool vibe of the game, the style is very unusual, but cool in its own way. The only thing I had some problems with the dialogs, the buttons didn't work((((. But I hope that this problem will be solved soon.

velvetlobster 2024-10-09 11:27

Ah, @karenchik I believe you might be referring to whether or not you agree ... that you actually have to use the same key, the "Z," to confirm. This might have led to some confusion since they aren't exactly buttons you click with a mouse.

I'm not sure if it was a good idea, but we tried to simulate a way of "insisting". You know, you have to agree three times or not agree three times ... There is some feedback where the agree and disagree options shake a bit. But I'm not sure if it was enough. You can also navigate them with the arrow keys, so you never actually use the mouse in the game.

zastegnushka 2024-10-09 11:56

Very interesting style, I like it, pleasant, and the idea is also good

unagiv 2024-10-09 13:09

So creative, congratulations !

zbrogdom 2024-10-09 13:17

I love infinite falling.

trusty 2024-10-09 16:09

Nice game, was a creative idea and enjoyable experience.

kanity 2024-10-09 20:56

I really like the absurdist-genre-vibe of the game. The visuals are also incredibly cute and charming ^v^ Little clouds are my favourites <3 Overall, I like the mixed-style with objects, paper drawings, etc. It gives a unique and fresh feeling!

Only, music felt a bit too much for me so I muted the site quite soon >_<

Also, I fell down a lot, but climbing back up felt almost impossible ;_;

thiago-neumann 2024-10-09 22:22

incredible!!!!!!

pekinanebula48 2024-10-09 22:39

Very cute and somehow poetic. What a creative game ! I love the music

oliver-day 2024-10-10 02:23

The mixing of many different types of art was interesting. Despite being not what I would normally go for it was very cool.

I'd also like to know how you set up the placement as there is no obvious repeat.

crozzy 2024-10-10 08:57

I liked the style of the game and the details in it. It turned out really well)

vidarn 2024-10-10 12:17

I really liked this experience! The art was beautiful. The blurred foreground layer gave it a nice depth and I like that the paper texture changed as you moved vertically. And the music was just fantastic, I really liked it. I kept the tab open just to listen to it on repeat after I had finished playing  Great job, thanks for making such an unique game.

dis0rder 2024-10-11 06:27

Quite the contemplative experience!

Some of the graphic elements might have been broken on my browser unfortunately. But I like the usage of found stuff as assets.

---

I also wondered at first whether the **Agree/Disagree**-buttons were broken or was it deliberate.

The *"insisting"*-idea you were going for is possible to implement properly but it would require some additional feedback-elements as you have said.

Gimmicks like these are fun but can be quite tricky to pull off (and I speak from experience!)

velvetlobster 2024-10-11 13:01

thank you all for playing and for the messages. @dis0rder thanks for the detailed review. what graphic elements do you think might have been broken? yeah I think some more feedback is necesary, we are already working on them for a post jam version

faofid 2024-10-11 22:10

I think I might be the only one who tried to play the game, and, unfortunately, didn't get it :( Don't get me wrong, graphics and audio are charming, it builds a good mood for the game. What I didn't get is the goal, the reason to continue jumping and falling and talking to the leaves. I thought I will meet a lot of these leaves, maybe other creatures, maybe they will be connected in the way they tell stories, and I was motivated to move further... But it seems they're not connected and repeating themselves. Also I didn't get what Agree and Disagree buttons mean - the leaf just disappears and that's it? I launched the game once again while writing this comment, thought, maybe I missed something, but still didn't get it, sorry. :sob: At the same time I think it might be a good puzzle - when I saw coordinates in the bottom right I thought that it is a necessary thing for me in the gameplay. Or a storytelling game, if the stories were connected. Or even some kind of a Pokemon game, where you need to collect all of the leaves. But for now I agree with the first comment, it is more an art installation. And sometimes a particular piece of art might not touch you, and that's okay - that's what happened to me. Still, I think it's cool, that such submission are also created, thank you for that experience!

andreia 2024-10-12 23:15

From the start I felt this game is very magical. Playing through it is very relaxing and meditative. I loved to move around and discover all the beautiful art, and chatting with different creatures sharing their random thoughts and thoughtful questions. Felt like I was in a dream. This is such a unique entry, thanks for making this!

doridie 2024-10-13 10:41

I love the art and overall feeling of this game, very inspiring! I think the leaves were all a bit shy in my game, somehow I only managed to trigger a dialog once. I don't know if I never hit the hitbox correctly or if there are characters without dialog. But I can imagine that with more dialog it would be a very relaxing game, great job :)

velvetlobster 2024-10-14 15:30

@faofid In fact, I believe you're absolutely right. We wanted to add more elements, like collectible items, additional characters, and more options. However, we ran out of time and couldn't include them.

Certainly, it is a more comprehensive version that we intend to keep working on. The idea is to indeed add more elements, insert more, let's say, "objectives" or "paths"

And you are quite right to say that, at this moment in time, it resembles an art installation more than a proper game. I believe it could evolve into a bit of both in the future.

Thank you for the sincere and well-detailed review =)

fataljg 2024-10-16 09:31

Calm game and cool leaves to talk to, great contemplative game !

hilary-fischer 2024-10-17 19:46

This game is so cute! Love the art style and feel of the game and the movement was tuned very well. Had a couple of problems with the talk interactions (where I thought I was close enough & it didn't open or I wasn't able to submit my response). Also, it might have been nice to add an objective like trying to find a specific person to talk to or get more of the story or something (like maybe tying into a background story?). Overall great cozy/artsy game!

hacksawunit 2024-10-21 07:23

A wonderful little experience, it reminds me of the best of the Flash-era "game-like experiences" I would stumble upon when I was younger. I love, love the music and the visuals. I think the dialogue was bugged for me- I would press the interact key, and it would show the dialogue for just a second before dissappearing. I was able to read some of it by screenshotting, though. I'm not sure if there was any sort of progression for talking to the leaves, but it was very nice to just fall down and watch my Y coordinate go up. :)

thankyou.gif

weirdbitgames 2024-10-21 16:14

Incredibly art style, this game oozes production value and presentation! The music was a bit jarring for my ears though. Such a beautful and chill game though. I do love games with a story over action sometimes <3
