LD56 — Tiny Creatures

About Crayons and my garden by velvetlobster 2024-10-07T01:49:35Z

This feels more like an art installation than a game in the traditional sense. And in that endeavor it is very successful. This is a very personal expression of wholesomeness with a touch of madness just below the surface. This is beautiful and human. And at any rate, it scores highly on the metrics. Might be the only game I award the full five stars to in the mood category. I sat with this for a while. Well done.

Great job! That was a fun little game. I was able to beat the whole thing without getting bored. I liked how all the flowers made the terrain feel a little bit more alive.

Small Critters by leorid 2024-10-13T14:35:27Z

I had trouble navigating with just one slime at first. I feel like this would benefit from having the option of seeing the invisible leader. That said, this is a very clever game, and has a lot of potential!

Slime Party! by William Corrin 2024-10-07T01:32:08Z

Bravo! This is a solid entry on every metric.

I came back to play this again just because it's so good. This deserves to win and get fully funded on GoFundMe.

I loved madlibbing the pieces. I didn't realize that that was what was happening until about the third round, and then found the reshuffle button. That helped me find an acceptable team for that impressively hard final level. I'm a huge nerd for this genre and I must say you did very well in the time window. This is great work and scores highly in my book. Also fun to see another shoutout to the Fear of Ducks theme which sadly perished. Also, an extra half star overall for the flashing lights warning.

Great little strategy RPG! You did a fantastic job balancing the game.

@richjbaron Deepest apologies for that. I haven't been able to test all the platforms yet. Doing the Mac test tomorrow, and also looking in to setting up an itch and putting out a web version. Which OS are you on, if you don't mind me asking?

Incoming Cellular Activity by Ariast 2024-10-07T12:56:58Z

@william-corrin You actually can! I gave the game four control schemes on the keyboard. WASD with QE camera, IJKL with UO camera, arrow keys with delete and pagedn camera, and numpad 8456 with n7 and n9 camera. Also, my friend didn't figure this out, but you can drop food at the cost of 1 DNA, and it distracts the bacteria.

I ran out of time before I could make a tutorial. :_)

Lessons learned from my first LD!

Also, you can use a gamepad and right stick the camera.

Sorry about the technical issues, everyone.

@cloverfall, thank you. I will get around to that... some day. (sigh)
