Was a fun little platformer, Like the graphics style of it, keep up the good work

it was so much fun to play. good art style. nice music. I immediately understood how the game is controlled and what I have to do (which cannot be said for every LD game). Overall, I rate excellent. good jam entry

Great gameplay loop, it was really fun! I loved the destructible environment, and how much control the player had over that, it gave the game some great challenge and strategy. The feedback the game had was also brilliant, I loved all the little effects when the blocks spawned in and were destroyed, it looked great. The graphics in general were very readable, and it all looked cohesive, which was great to see (literally)! As well as that, the music and sound effects fit equally well with the rest of the game, so it all came together very nicely! I had a great time playing this, so good job on making it!

simple and really good looking game. great compo entry!

Solid game, quite polished. Music is great, did you not make it yourself? I can't vote on the audio, would've given it high marks.

This is ridiculously fun to play. I legitimately jumped with fear, when I realized those red plus boxes spawned more black holes.

It's polished. Great work.

Very great platformer. Funny to play. Everything is perfect.

themadpangolin 2022-04-05 19:46

Thank you all so much for trying and rating my game ^-^ I'm very happy to see people are enjoying it!

@ollie-d Thank you! I did make the music but not during the Ludum Dare itself. It was already pretty much a finished song so I polished it up a little bit and just used that, which is why I opted out of the audio category.

ollie-d 2022-04-05 19:47

@themadpangolin I understand. I did that for my GMTK jam last year so I feel you completely. Sometimes a song you already have just fits the game perfectly. I really did enjoy it though :)

That is a really nice game! Loved all the "cosmetic" aspect: music, graphics, FX, little effects, everything is REALLY beautiful and nice. The controls are smooth, even if I would enjoy a way to assign controls to different keys or controllers.

There is juste one little thing that I would change: when we go against a block and try to jump, our character is stuck and can't really jump. I think the gamefeel of this little thing is quite frustrating. Other than this little detail, everything is really really nice and polished. You made a wonderful job on this game, thanks for sharing it!

themadpangolin 2022-04-05 23:32

@chocolat-endive Thank you ^-^ I agree about jumping against blocks. I've been trying to get a decent time and keep having trouble with it myself xD

I think a mechanic where you automatically climb over the top of a block if you jump/fall onto the side of it would make it feel alot better. I'm not sure if I'll make a post jam version but if I do I'll definitely have a look into it.

Fantastic game!

Really enjoyed this entry. Only had time at the moment to get a Silver rating, but I had enough fun with it that I very much plan to come back around when I have the time to go for that Gold (will probably have to do some external controller binding, I'm terribly bad at platforming with keyboard v_v).

Graphics are really solid. The slime is adorable and the animation when it jumps is great (nice little shimmer on it). Each block type appearance being quite distinct was great for quickly being able to identify what was going on when things got chaotic.

Most blocks where pretty obvious in their effects as soon as I hit them. Only ones that weren't with their exact effects were the Plus and Arrow blocks, but the Research Notes were really helpful in that regard (though I did get the Ice block note like five times in a row at the start XD).

I do quite like the mechanic of the Black Hole growing and getting slower as more blocks are on the field. It gives some options on how one wants to try to handle the situation (keep less blocks but having to move more quickly, or have to fight through the clutter with a bit more time to spare but more difficult maneuvering around the Black Hole), which is an interesting bit of strategy to have in a quick game like this.

Nice touch with the floor blinking before it vanishes. I didn't know that was coming the first round I played, so that visual indicator helped a lot. It was immediately obvious to me that I was going to lose the ground and I had to scramble up onto the blocks.

The only thing that wasn't immediately obvious was that I had a wall jump (discovering that almost got me killed as I sort of latched onto the outside wall), but as soon as I discovered it, it was really helpful in giving additional options.

Anyway, great job with this entry! It was a blast to play!

I had fun and loved learning tips while playing. Animation and sound are really gound. thanks for your entry !

This was reaaaaally good, I like how juice the art is, how fitting the audio is, how the character feels, overall a great entry, well done with this one!

svntax 2022-04-12 06:22

Really well designed and well polished game! I had a lot of fun playing and restarting, trying to come up with a strategy for surviving longer in the next run. The black hole fits perfectly with the theme.

edmanbosch 2022-04-13 19:39

Very fun and unique game, feels like something I would buy and play on Steam. I think the character's handling feels a bit off though: when you latch onto a wall you can't move off of it, your only option is to perform a wall jump (although considering the character is a slime, this might've been intentional). When you collide with a wall on the side all your vertical momentum is zeroed out, which also feels very off-putting and can be hard to deal with at times.

Love these games that just look and feel finished! Had fun watching this get played in our stream earlier and had to give it a shot myself (i'm not good lol). Can't believe this game doesn't have 20 ratings yet! I definitely noticed the getting stuck on blocks issue but other than that everything was smooth. Amazing compo entry, enjoyed playing!

coleslaughter 2022-04-17 06:44

[Thanks for submitting your game to stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1457959497?t=01h45m23s)

Absurd that this is a compo game. I love the unique mechanic, paired with the clean visuals and tight controls. Absolutely well done here!

robonaut121 2022-04-17 19:19

Wow! You got a lot done in the compo timeframe! Personally, my games just end up being unfinished messes in 48 hours, but not only is yours complete, it's polished too! One of the funnest games I've played this jam!

I found myself tanking the black hole and shooting at it until there were no blocks left, than instantly dying once the floor got removed as my strategy was very reliant on floor, but eventually managed to get bronze :-)
