Had fun playing nice gam
"Meow" there! This game's graphics is cool. I loved audio of "moewing" while encounter obstacle or fish but I think there should be a little background music. Overall great game and idea.
Thank you. Yes, the game does need music, I just didn't have the time to get around to it. I will make some music soon and add it to a post submission update.
This is a tiny and intuitive platformer game. Even as I write a comment, the meow seems to ring in my ears.
I wanted to try Defold, but I couldn't due to a lack of time on the LD51. Was Defold a convenient engine for making platformer-like games?
@benthetwoofus, I have tried so many game engines but Defold was the one that clicked the best with me. For the way I approach making games as well as my programming style, Defold makes it possible for me to turn my ideas into actual games and allows me to make 2D games in any genre. It lets me focus on actually making the game instead of trying to work out how to make a game. Also, I really like Lua. Its not perfect, no game engine is, but I like it and since using it and I have not had an itch to try other game engine since. You should give it a go and see if it is the game engine for you. Each game developer needs to keep trying and searching until they find the game engine that works best for them.
Hard platform jump and limited time, a little more stressful for me. But I like the graphics and sound! Tiny and cute game, well done!
Good take on the theme!
I couldn't make it past the 2nd platform but man was I howling with laugh. The SFX was great. Holy hell is the game hard.
Very nice game, i got a little frustrated at the part with the many saws and 1 block between but all in all good game.
it was fun ! just one note: some "collison box" are a bit too big, and kill me even if i was far away. especially for the circular saw)
Fun little platformer! Liked the SFXs used. As other users pointed out, some hitboxes were wack.
Nice idea with the resetting timer. Kinda hard, but cool.
Great little platformer, with the perfect sound effects. Nice work!
I have just released a post submission release of Run kitty Run to Itch.io that includes a music track, a minor tweak to the level and updated collision detection on the spinning disc. To play the post release, please use the Itch.io links.
Loved this game. It´s cute and yet reminds me of a rage game but in a fun way. Loved every meow. Music is great, really. Great work!
Neat game, interesting to see stuff developed in Defold. I think there's some bug that your character movement is tied to framerate (maybe missing some `deltaTime` factors?). The character moved and jumped comically fast for me on my 144Hz screen. The sound effects were quite fun :D
I think the meow sound effect just balanced just a little too loudly compared to the rest of my system sounds, perhaps bring it back 5db
This is one of my favorite games from this jam! I love precision platformers, especially when they're so quick to come back from death.
There's a few tweaks that would make the game more polished, like better feedback/alert for when you die because of time (I kept thinking there was something hidden killing me), hitboxes that are slightly more forgiving, better jump control (horizontal speed seems a bit slow, and it would be nice to be able to jump higher/lower by holding jump or just tapping it). Also, sometimes you die right after respawning because you're still holding a button to move.
All minor issues, understandable in a jam context, and they're debatable, others might disagree with me. All in all I loved playing it and getting 100% fishes :)
Also, about the post-jam version: how am I supposed to play the game while I'm dancing to that song??? :)
I see a cat related game and I liked it but omg that speedy ass cat ha-ha
You were not lying when you said this was a precision platformer... Sometimes the death "meow" played so loud it was like a jumpscare!

@foggydude, I am so happy that you played the first level all the way through and didn't give up. Hearing the Meow 447 times must have got to you after a while. Yes, I will definitely look into fixing the loud meow bug. Thanks again for giving the game a good go.
