I liked the concept and the game, it seemed like a long waiting time between each event. But overall good work!

hadik 2021-10-05 19:33

I like that audio, very good. I dont know, I dont much see what colerate with theme, sorry. Game is fun, but not as good as I hope so. You art is masterpiece, very good job. Overall I like you game, good job. Still time between rounds is very long.

One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will appreciate very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)

AMAZING! How do you make a game this good in ONLY 24 HOURS! This is top notch. If your not already, you need to work on this and make it a full release! PLEASE full release! 10/10 AWESOME game!

thegamerasd 2021-10-05 23:16

Interesting game, I like the idea.

bqq 2021-10-05 23:16

I really like the radial-like menu for building! Unfortunately it seems like some buildings don't appear for me (or then I'm misunderstanding something) and the audio seems to crackle on the web build.

wobs 2021-10-05 23:19

Very interesting take on the topic! The mechanics seemed rather confusing at the beginning and I feel like my Upgrade button was broken, or then I didn't quite understand the mechanics. But overall a really solid and amazing performance for such a short developing time! Great submission :D

firebelley 2021-10-05 23:20

Art and audio are top-notch! Gameplay-wise, it took me some time to figure out what was going on. I also think the fast-moving option should be default. But once I got the hang of it the game was engaging. Nice work!

chrishg12 2021-10-05 23:23

Wow. This is really creative. Darned shame there's no win state, but I guess there doesn't need to be. I'm having trouble pinning a location on that music, almost sounds like a mix between North-East Asian steppe folk music and Northern Native American tribal music. Sounds awesome either way.

chris-mcknight 2021-10-05 23:24

Art and building mechanics are very well done and polish, I would love to see a final published version.

aznz 2021-10-05 23:26

the game bit complicated, with so many things happening at once. but once I restart and play again I started to understand. The visual is amazing pleasing and the audio match really well. the mechanic for the game is really smooth and polished.

carraka 2021-10-05 23:33

Where can I find a tutorial...or something that tells me what Build or Rapire or these other buttons mean? Or the difference between a mine and a farm, other than the art? The game looks great and the music is fiiine, but I was confused. Eventually I noticed that the UI in the bottom left changed numbers depending on where I was standing, and that was when it clicked for me that maybe I should be trying to increase the stability of each square. But how to do that? Unclear...I'd recommend just writing up a quick guide to plop beneath the description so that people can at least have an idea of what they're supposed to do.

Another way to make the game more understandable would be to add sound effects or visual cues that indicate when something is happening. I definitely knew when I was building buildings because I could see them pop up, but for a long time, I didn't think any of the other buttons actually did anything, so I figured those buttons were just leftover UI from a time when you had hoped to implement more features. Even just a little ding might have made me pay attention to the lower left and realize numbers were changing. I think the lower left numbers would also have been clearer if they appeared right on top of the platform you are standing on, so it's clearly linked to the platform and your eyes don't have to travel far to read it when you're pressed for time.

Anyway, good job and I hope to see more!

@carraka Thank you for the detailed comment and for putting this much effort in your feedback <3 I'll improve it for sure. Thanks!

sestren 2021-10-06 00:02

It took me a little while to understand the mechanics, but overall, I like it! It seems like it's vitally important to visit your farming spots to check on their instability and Q them up if they get too high. I'm not quite sure what effect ByteCoin has on your money, but I'm guessing there is some kind of interest and saving mechanic built into the game? Very cool idea!

stroe-andrew 2021-10-06 00:10

@sestren - Exactly. You have to check every single platform and repair it or Leveling it up. If a platform is over level 8 it becomes 100% stable and you can start building an Industry/Oil Extraction or Cave.

ByteCoin is simply a "parody" of how bitcoins kinda works. You earn byteCoin, but when you buy stuff you pay with the Dollars $(The ones displayed under the ByteCoins). As the real cryptocurrency, it's very unstable. Every 1.5seconds the ByteCoin it can go up or down and you'll have more and less money to buy stuff.

sestren 2021-10-06 00:18

@stroe-andrew Thank you for confirming how that works! I'll have to play it again with that in mind and see if I can top my previous score.

gastar 2021-10-06 12:10

Cool idea! Need some time to figure out how game works but then plays really fun. Sometimes platforms behave weird - can overlay each other.

g5-leonardo 2021-10-06 13:45

After the explanation of the gameplay in the comment above it was more clearly what to do. I really love the graphics and the soundtrack, togheter they let you enter a state of focus.

Nice idea to reinforce the theme not only with the unstable base but even with the currency.

Good job and Keep dev!

papabirb 2021-10-07 10:18

Lol, it took me until I only had like 3 platforms left and stuff stopped happening before I figured out I could do stuff on the other platforms. No idea what "purify" does on the home base, I just spammed 'X' and built stuff on every platform I could and then they all started crumbling away until the last 3 platforms, which stopped crumbling away I guess? I got bored and didn't really feel like restarting.

I love the aesthetics visually and the audio, it feels really epic and looks really watercolory to me, something I love! The sound effects are a little crunchy and distorted though, and either the song doesn't loop or that was an indicator that I lost or something because they stopped chanting at me after I had 3 platforms remaining.

One thing I'll note is it threw up a weird error the first time I clicked on it on Itch.io on Chrome, repeatable on refresh. Something about full screen error, even though I was not clicking the full screen button. error on dudes game.jpg

With a proper tutorial, I think this has a lot of strategy potential! I liked it!

nice audio and graphics.great job

dinwy 2021-10-07 12:44

It is kinda sad thing, I was unable to play this game. It was keep switching between full screen to window screen, I was unable to play :( Happened both website.

sli 2021-10-07 12:46

The game looks beautiful. At first I didn't realize I can move. The mood is prefect. Good Job

kernon 2021-10-07 12:55

I also ran into the fullscreen issue. I wasn't sure what I was missing after that error as the game seemed to play. Once in fullscreen mode (which is forced) all the UI overlay is missing and I had no idea what was going on. Please ping me if you do end up getting this fixed as I'd love to be able to give this game a fair try!

donatello 2021-10-07 13:19

Nice job on the graphics and the audio they really blend well together, I don't usually play this kind of games so maybe this part I'm about to write it's me not being accustomed to these mechanics, but I got a little lost in what I was supposed to do to keep the base stable. I think it needs a tutorial at the beginning, but overall you did an impressive work in only 3 days all by yourself. Nice one!

michelangelo 2021-10-07 13:52

Without a tutorial or the rules explained I spent almost 20 minutes to figure out how it really works. Infact i almost give up on learning the mechanics. But they were so interesting that I kept playing.

The only mechanic i didn't understand at all was the unstable earning of money, which i read in these comments; i found it fascinating, but it's a vital information that must be explained somehow.

Audio is phenomenal, it really helps to set the mood of the game! But after few minutes it just stops :(

itzemii 2021-10-07 20:13

Wow. Complicated game for a ludum dare. Very nice graphics and cool music! Time between the events felt a bit too long. It would be nice to see where platforms will disappear ... I would like to at least. Controls are good. Congratulations!

atmospherium 2021-10-07 20:25

Great game, felt really ambitious. Nice usage of resource building mechanics and exploration. Took a while to get a feel for what the homebase could actually do, but after a couple failed attempts it clicked. Art and design was really well done and felt very immersive. The music was great at building the mood, but it's usually a good idea to disclose that you used external assets for something that integral to the mood of your game. On the whole, impressive work, especially since it sounds like you did this solo. I'd love to see if you develop this further.

vivyhasadream 2021-10-08 04:29

I feel it's a very great strategy game, with cool art and concept, but as soon as I clicked the "click" at the very beginning, it showed the following error msg. I guess I'll need to use Q B E keys, but they didn't work (I think it was because of the error). so I can't try the full game features. but still this game looks very appealing to me!

ghatazorg 2021-10-08 10:30

Great concept! I love the art. It just lacks a little bit of explanation of how to play, I didn't understand that I could move at first. Nevertheless, it's a nice game, good job :)

mediflect 2021-10-09 01:47

The art is really well done - I like the painterly aesthetic a lot! The mechanics are pretty obtuse, but there's enough there to understand what's going on once you put some time into it. I think making the data on your current tile a little more centered would help a lot. Right now it's in the bottom left corner in really small text, and it took me a few minutes to even notice it was there. If it was just over the tile directly, it would be much more obvious. The music was a nice touch and set the mood well. Once I figured out how things worked, I definitely started feeling the pressure to get as much done as I could before the next event happened. It felt a little bit like an RTS in that regard!
