LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Loop Wood Shire by C64Gamer 2020-10-08T09:57:49Z

Very nice graphics and nice idea for a gameplay. The idea of having the flag is really good. For me that makes the game quite challanging :-)

But you really should add an highscore ;-) (and might hide the quit-button on web).

Overall a really nice game.

Looping for lööps by Steffo 2020-10-08T10:27:28Z

Awesome sounds and graphics! The idea with the buttons is quite nice and also that they can be traps. But the "extra-extra-EXTRA" speed thing killed me every time. Once I managed to slow down again, but I was already in another trap and so the laser got me ^^.

Rogue Pickup by frozenfire92 2020-10-09T06:18:26Z

I think I can see where this game wanna go to. The current state is for me more like a prototype which makes it hard to tell something regarding it. But may I can give some ideas on how you can continue with it - and may you like one of the ideas and will use it :-)

- I think the map is too big. I was driving my cycles and easily escaped from them. Then I wanted to "crush" them but had problems finding them again. - The car should be really slow on dirt so that the player wants to drive on the road. I saw no need to stay on the road and the non-working-items actually made me leaving the road - Having items on the dirt is ok - but they shouldn't be too far away (with keeping in mind that dirt = very slow) - Zombies should make more damage. I first thought they wouldn't deal damage until I parked in them and waited for some time - The car must be better controllable. I wouldn't make it too difficult for the player to stay on the road. That shouldn't be no problem. The challange will be zombies and items - Different types of zombies. You also could need a FAT BOOMER which the player don't want to hit ;-)

And of course: Audio and SFX =)

Mad Science Loop by digitaldude555 2020-10-08T08:11:07Z

I like the idea with freezing the level in order to make it. But once starting the game I nearly forgot all of the control. So I'd really recommend you to update your itch-page so that people can read them again ;-).

Active Cell by Jonas Michael 2020-10-08T11:00:17Z

I like the graphics and title-animation very much! You already got me with the main menu - it made me click around :-). Everything fits very well and I like the "contextual tutorial". Very nice game =)

L.O.S.S. - Looped Orbital Space Shooter by amarillion 2020-10-08T10:40:28Z

At least made it to the highscore :-). I atually double checked if it local or not. And I like that it is a global one :-).

The audio is really nice and the sound effects made me smile :D. Nice game!

Roundabout Rowdy by Andreas Roschal 2020-10-08T08:52:16Z

I like the idea very much and the cars remind me on a 10min-modelling-challange on YT :-P. I now follow you on itch, rated the game on itch and it is the very first game I've added to an itch-collection. Do I've to say more?

Party Pooper by Bibicio 2020-10-09T17:28:41Z

WOW!

This game was really funny! The comic at the beginning - that it is skippable once read. The upgrades, the ingame shop - the highscore. Just wow!

There are only two things which imho can be improved: 1. Allow me to play it in fullscreen ;-). I'd problem when starting it on your itch-page. So I looked up the url to the index.html and played it isolated. First then it took my WASD-input. 2. Add a settings page so that the sounds can become regulated

But as you can see: those things are not dramatic. Because of the humor this now is my favorite game of the jam =)

Choo Choo Loop by thunderkerrigan 2020-10-08T07:45:31Z

I like the game idea and I was able to find out fast what I've to do. But I've also struggled with the loops. So I tried to build a very long track instead.

So the overall game idea is quite nice. If you keep on working on it I think you can create a nice casual game out of it :-)

Orbiting Defense by Vimlark 2020-10-08T19:38:01Z

Also just saw your video and I somehow felt your pain because I also struggled a lot with the theme (not as much as you - but I also thought about quiting the jam).

I like the outcome very much and I wouldn't have noticed the "journey" behind it. I think it was worth it spending so much time with the controls because they've turned out very well. In general I like your art style so it isn't a surprise that I also like the art from that game.

If you'll continue working on that game after the jam here are some ideas of me: - I'm sometimes an impatiant person. It would be nice to skip the intro-sequence of a new game. May hitting enter brings one directly into the gameplay - I think it might would be cool to be able to have collectibles which are reparing a satelite (may with the condition that it has to become collected by a broken one)

Overall: really nice game. Continuing with the game was the right decission ;-)

Need More Space by wheatleyscience 2020-10-08T08:00:03Z

Very nice game and awesome graphics. You did a really good job in getting the player on board. Having different levels explaining everything was a really good idea.

Petri Dish by johanhelsing 2020-10-08T19:49:34Z

I really not sure what to tell. Because it is really interessting but also really weired. The audio was nothing I'd enjoy. I was too lazy to mute so I thought I would close the game very early. To my suprise I didn't do it and tried it with "ignoring" the audio. Because you did a really good job on the simulation part and I really wanted to try out different things. Actually I wanted to create an epic battle :D.

It would've been nice if I could set the limit for the creatures. Because I've the feeling that it stopped to early (and I really wanted to have my epic battle). On the other hand that kept me really busy with your game ^^.

I wonder what that game would have looked like if you'd about one week time for it =).

Break the Loop by XeduR 2020-10-08T16:51:18Z

Really cool game and it is really nice that the output matches the code. Was really fun to play! Please make some more levels :-)

Arrows Hop by Apandso 2020-10-08T09:46:47Z

The game is really cute and I agree with others saying: that would be a great mobile game! Imho the difficulty should increase more (may by increasing the speed, spawning objects faster, heaths disappear faster, obstacles stay longer).

You also could provide smaller (faster) levels + highscore.

Overall you really should go for a mobile version of that game!

Loopedy Island by Douwe_Ravers 2020-10-08T12:12:15Z

At some points other cars were flying and I found some stairs:

stairs and flying cars.png

(in the background you can see the flying cars)

I like the hud - it is really nice that you can check all the time the controls. But handling the car wasn't easy. Overall the game could need some more work. That isn't meant any negative. I also have tried to make a car game a couple of times and I never got one finished yet. Balancing a vehicle really isn't easy. Imho you achieved a lot within the given time! It may just was too much for one weekend.

Omega Virus by Cryptomnesic 2020-10-09T11:06:38Z

I like the idea. Took me a few seconds to figure out how to move - but than I discovered the buttons and the shortcuts on it. The game is really missing audio. With proper sounds and music you could create a really nice atmosphere :-).

Loopocalypse by Kongo 2020-10-08T11:56:54Z

I like the game very much - but I miss a win/loose-condition. The art is really funny and everything fits very well together.

That certain people belong to certain rooms wasn't obvious to me. I first got this after reading the description. I thought a combo is: putting the same type of person to the same room.

So if you add something like win/loose-condition, (maybe an highscore) and a proper how-to-play-page then you'll get a very nice mobile game :-)

Rewind : A companion Cube Experiment by daimadoushi 2020-10-08T10:18:25Z

Is level 5 makable? Cause I can't figure out how to move one of the white cubes :(.

But overall a really cool game. The gameplay had confused me in the beginning but once I read the description everything made sense.

I like this kind of puzzle game and hope you will add some more levels. Having this as a mobile version would be cool!

Project L.O.O.P by PeteH 2020-10-09T17:08:20Z

I see you put really a lot of effort in this game and achieved a lot within that short amount of time. Of course that creates more mechanics people can complain about :-P. So here is my list:

- When you skip the intro you still here typing-sounds - It would be cool if you could have the option to display the text instant. I'd the choise to wait or to skip. So to my shame I haven't read the story :-(. - Having sound controls for the settings - May update the walking-animation (or not - it somehow looks funny ^^). - Randomize the passwords (I think they're hardcoded at the moment)

I'm totally aware of that you've created a complex game within a short amount of time. So of course compromises had to be done and I've respected that in my rating. You have a really good base. Just keep on working :-)

I really want to point out that I'm impressed by the complexity! Really good job!

Hamster Happiness by shosanna 2020-10-08T08:20:16Z

I once had 3 mices - they could stay forever in the wheel - the hamster seems to be way more complex ^^. I never managed to get him completely happy (but somehow made 100%). Not sure if I missed something because at one point all my decisions just could be wrong :-(

Overall a cute game with really nice sounds :D

GHOST FROM JAIL by Gilad Bar Ilan 2020-10-09T16:42:23Z

It was really easy to get in the game. The game doesn't relay on reading the itch-page first. This is always good! Or in other word: I like that you have a tutorial in the beginning :-). Short and on point!

I like the style of the ghosts very much. They look really cool. Also that you can teleport is a nice feature. But instead of a random place you might could use the mouse for setting a target. Because at that point it is really a gamble if T will be helpfull or not. (If you want to avoid that the player jumps around to much: just add a condition. E.g.: 3 ghosts have to be killed before teleport can be used).

Imho the audio fits very good to the game :-)

Overall a good game which made play a couple of rounds =)

Hoops Paradise by GuaranteedTrainwreck 2020-10-08T11:16:58Z

Really nice game and I like the art very much :-). The music is well choosen - it really gives the impression of being at a beach with some tourists forgotten their brain at home :D.

Not sure about the difficulty. I'm actually a fan of games not running too long - but the game starts really fast with putting pressure on the player.

Overall I like the game idea very much. But I think it would be more fun on a mobile game (I think right-mouse-button is not really needed and you could achieve everything also with a single click).

An Exercise for the Reader by Jordan Kelly 2020-10-07T15:03:38Z

How you saved your submission is really cool :-). Actually the most fun part was when I saw the comments here afterwards. While you were talking about spending too much time with art, I was doing art and other players did even more art. Unfortuntaley I haven't saved my art :-(. Overall this somehow feels like a loop. Others will listen to your game, do some art, may screenshot it and post art here. Have I mentioned the art-aspect?

RbLoop by OaksGuard 2020-10-08T08:27:31Z

This is a really hard game for me. A super-easy-baby-mode which generates a checkpoints after every collection would be perfect for me. Jumping on the moving plattform was were I gave up.

But however - this is a really interessting and mostly intuitiv gameplay. Once I got where to put the square everything starts making sense. What I really like is that you did a programming game with using an approach I've never seen before.

Loop Control by Tomate_Salat 2020-10-08T10:52:58Z

First of all: thanks to all playing my game and giving feedback. I try to play all of your games (if possible).

@guaranteedtrainwreck I experimented a lot with the speed and if the snake should either grow or shrink. In the first shot the snake had a speed of 360°/s which looked cool - but was too fast. After a lot of try-outs I reached the current balancing. I've seen that you submitted a web-version of your game. So I definitively will play it =).

@typeswitch well - avoiding the snake is actually the core-concept of that game ^^. I also thought of going more in direction of "feeding the snake". But that would've turned the game into beeing too easy. Regarding the health-system: I should keep that in mind. My idea was to set the highscore as "single goal". But it could've been the second. Allowing the player to reach more easy the end of the round would might increase replayability.

Btw: exploring the mechanic is definitively worth it. The snake is not unpredictable and my highscore is 11s.

LD49 — Unstable

Rock by ghpxi 2021-10-05T18:40:18Z

Hmm, don't know what to day. Either I do something wrong or the game isn't working. My problem is that I can not increase the temperature. I thought volcanos can increase it but it remains on -255°.

I would say the game could need some audio. Besides that I like the graphics very much (because I love low poly).

A Glorious Rule by gamesplusjames 2021-10-05T16:01:25Z

Pretty cool game and good amount of levels. Some were really tricky. But your description is slightly wrong. "Mouse is all you need" was defenitivly not the case for me. I was extensivly using the [R]-Key. Not sure if I've overread it - but it would be cool if the assistant would mention this to the player.

I don't think I can give any more feedback to your game. The game is really intuitive and looks/sounds good. Also on the texts you did very well. Even when I was stuck the game made me wanna finish it. So it challanges the player very well in a way so that he continues playing.

Overall a very good game :-)

Unstable magic by Mads 2021-10-05T07:39:18Z

After I've found the first "milestone" I got the idea behind it. But I find it too hard. Even with the hint where the second milestone will be. The map is really big and I usually kill myself with the range attack (but that was actually pretty fun). I think I was close finish the 2nd milestone but I died for non obvious reasons and after 10min I gave up. So for dumb players like me more guidance would be nice - but I understand that this is hard to balance. Because too much hints would destroy the base concept. So may I'm not the target group, but thats ok. Because overall it is a pretty good game :)

Human Stack™ by Minus 2021-10-05T18:10:51Z

Tbh: I haven't played the game as you might expect your players to play it. Because I found a way to solve every level with 2 objects. Here is my favorite one - I call it the "superman method":

cheating.png

Ok - one could say it would be cheating. But sometimes it was really hard to make it with only 2 objects. Because sometimes you have to catch the other object in the air again.

Overall I enjoyed the game a lot and I would say: theme fully met!

HOLD IT by Cloistered 2021-10-06T14:34:35Z

I had to think on another game. There I "cheated" by playing nearly in the way like your game wants me to ^^. So I joined the game in a very good mood :stuck_out_tongue:

I first thought: oh this is easy - and had to laugh when I saw the elephant (pretty cute model btw ^^). But the sword was my final enemy. I did a lot of tries but my best is 5.60s and I need 7s.

So like on the other game I wanted to "trick" the mechanics and use the walls. But it seems like you've expected that. Well played ;-)

But I really missed some audio. I think the circus theme would fit. Let's try it (... yes I'm actually now moving over to the game again ...) ... and I'm back. With the circus theme I made the sword instant and reached lvl 10. Now the game starts lagging for me - but I don't think it is related to your game.

So overall a pretty fun game :-)

Unstable Balance by simonkmall 2021-10-05T18:21:28Z

Nice and simple game. I like that it feels very fair. If it runs out of balance then it felt like I did something wrong and not that the game would be too strict. But I miss some replay-value. You could increase that by adding a simple highscore. E.g. by just displaying the highest score one got during a session.

Uncommon Chemistry by boxcar012 2021-10-06T14:18:59Z

I like the art style of the game. But the game itself could need some more work. On my first try I placed the incredients to the bottom of the cauldron - because I couldn't move them anymore I thought that would be correct. But nothing has changed and then I noticed that I have to add incredients in a different way (top of the cauldron). I've restarted the game and gave it a new try. Because I had the feeling it would go forever I lost on purpose because I wanted to see whats happening.

In regards of what I mentioned here are some ideas how I could imagine how to solve it: - If incredients are not dropped on top of the caudron then tween them back to their original position. - Add some highlights to the caudron when the incredient is ready being dropped into it. May some particle effects or glow? - You could make the game harder by increasing the influence of the incredients. I'd the feeling that I could really "finetune" the balanche

Paranoia by Tomate_Salat 2021-10-05T06:52:21Z

@the-lame-brain Thank you for your feedback. With level 2-2 you still were in the introduction levels. With level 3-0 another upgrade gets introduced which allowed more difficult levels. Because without that upgrade you won't be able to find certain paths.

This actually was the first platformer I've made and I enjoyed making it. So I am pretty sure I will do some more in future. Therefore appreciate your ideas :slight_smile:

Paranoia by Tomate_Salat 2021-10-07T07:52:25Z

@apple-dash Wow. Thank you for that detailed feedback! About the bug: this is really weired. I know there is a lot of text. Therefore the game asks you if you want to hear about it/playing for the first time. This gives you the option to extremly shorten the texts + most of dialoges becoming disabled. But I can totally understand that this bug + texts can kill the motivation.

I always had the feeling that there is something not right with the wall jumping. But I couldn't put the finger on it (actually I was really close to make it worse). I it is easy to loose orientation during wall jumps. I had the hope to get rid of this by keeping the distances short. Looks like that hasn't worked out as expected. Here I take with me that I have to weight my initial impression higher.

Again: thank you very much for that feedback. I really had fun making my first platformer and I definitivley want to do more of them. The thing with the lights was an experiment which I don't want to repeat (I really don't like that my game could cause epileptic attacks). Of course it is always nice to hear when player like my game. But I do jams for learning. Therefor I prefer to hear how I can make things better. So what you've wrote was very valuable to me :slight_smile:

Zap! by zazz0000 2021-10-06T08:14:54Z

First of all: really good job on graphics/art. The game looks awesome! Unfortunately I don't get what to do. I tried to follow the instructions written here on the ldjam-page, but the battery is throwing an error and kills the game:

``` Invoking error handler due to abort(182) at Error at jsStackTrace (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:16334) at stackTrace (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:16505) at abort (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:748) at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[76185]:0xe03c38 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[46584]:0x89f94d at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[75586]:0xdeec38 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[46584]:0x89f94d at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[75516]:0xdeaf99 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[75515]:0xdeae20 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[45536]:0x885936 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[75946]:0xe02cfa at Object.dynCall_iiiii (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:463649) at invoke_iiiii (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:331142) at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[73745]:0xda8a3b at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[73145]:0xd90db9 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[8639]:0x17ef6f at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[8637]:0x17ee63 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[938]:0x60ee3 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[19486]:0x2cae4e at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[19492]:0x2cb042 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[19457]:0x2ca16b at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[23520]:0x37ee1a at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[23519]:0x37edab at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[20216]:0x2e841d at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[19653]:0x2d0d86 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[19653]:0x2d0d98 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[19642]:0x2d08f7 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[19633]:0x2cfe39 at wasm://wasm/03fde1d2:wasm-function[74596]:0xdc74df at Object.dynCall_v (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:472631) at browserIterationFunc (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:168671) at Object.runIter (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:171732) at Browser_mainLoop_runner (blob:https://operationdogbird.com/30d52c94-2b1f-4eaf-90fd-815b55c7b966:2:170194) ```
But overall you already did a really good job on the game. If that error wouldn't have occured I would have continued trying following your instructions. So the game does a really good job in keeping the player interessted.
The Madness of Larry Donovan by The Lame Brain 2021-10-05T08:02:55Z
I should have read the story first. Expected that I could be able to kill the monsters - but makes sense. A taser is for stunning and not for killing. So that actually matches very well.
For some "levels" I just could run through the levels - monsters never became anyhow dangerous. That makes it hard to handle them in the later levels.
What I really liked was that the game is communicating every item to the player very well! In many games one gets an item and creators thought they are self-explaining ... and I often don't understand them.
Like others I had problems to recognize the theme. After your explanation I got the idea behind it and I think it is totally valid to implement the theme as the story. But then the game should get more story-telling.
This Is Fine by Grizwhirl 2021-10-06T13:52:29Z
:smile: awesome game! I thought the game won't like me because I have no friends - but I like that you also can play it solo. Then I added a 2nd player and played against myself.
I really love the characters and their animations. They are so cute! It's really fun to watch when they get squashed :stuck_out_tongue:
Because I like the game so much, I've also rated it on itch ^^
Good job!
Unstable Adventures of the Space Engineer by Sceef 2021-10-06T09:10:46Z
Great job on audio and graphics :-). Also the map is really nice in designed and there is a lot to discover. But the game really could need a fullscreen-button ;-). I started playing with arrow-keys but it made the page move as well - but fortunately you have implemented WASD as well. That has helped
Besides that really nice idea with that "floating-eye-worm-thing" :D
Tip-See-Saw by MickyHC 2021-10-06T12:13:34Z
The game seems to be pretty solid. Art and audio are well done and matching fine the style. I would say the theme is fully met.
I know how important feedback is and I really would like to give some ideas about what could be improved. But as mentioned: the game looks solid to me. Which means that you also did a good job on planning. Because to me the game looks finished.
Of course one can always improve visuals or so. Ok - here I would have an idea: you could play around with particle effects which happen when the player collects machine parts.
So overall really good job!
HexFall by GAME_RS 2021-10-06T13:35:45Z
The game has a really cute style (and I really like it! :slight_smile: ). Also it is pretty self explaining. I first wondered for what reason the read platform was there - but it got clear once I've picked up the cherry. So good work on that.
I only don't like how sensible the game reacts when you move the mouse. It took a while until I got somehow used to it.
The Door of Illusions by 2CCs 2021-10-06T09:24:10Z
Wow! Really - I haven't expected that. This belongs to the best games I've played so far. It looks so simple but the mechanics are really clever.
The only thing you could improve is to somehow explain the controls in the game as well (so that one doesn't have to read the itch-page). But besides that: really good job!
LD52 — Harvest
Whap Harvest by pushmepullyu 2023-01-10T12:17:14Z
Really cool fishing idea which was fast to get.
I like the simple graphics and the bear is really cute ^^. I got that I had to fill the stomach (may because in my own game starving is a thing) but thats may something which could have been highlighted more. Because I think not for everyone it is obvious that this has to be filled up / you loose if stomach is empty.
Besides that the only thing I really was missing is audio. That could give it a real relaxing vibe while fishing :-)
Overall a pretty cool game which fully met the theme.
Corny Heist by MightyBanana 2023-01-14T09:25:42Z
Cool game idea :-).
The tutorial in the beginning is very well made. It told me everything I need to know. While harvesting I wondered what would happen if they see me. And I was positivly suprised! Often it is like: "you get seen: game over". But that they first have to chase and catch you is really good! And in lvl 3 it wasn't easy to get away from them.
Also I love how the music changes ones they've discovered you. That was absolutley the right decission to use that track! Fits perfectly.
The only thing I was missing are two smallish things: 1. Volume slider 2. An option to jump from a solved level to the next one
But overall that game is really good and fully implements the theme! Well done!
The Domino Surgery by Adam Konig 2023-01-09T19:06:17Z
I like the game idea because I like this kind of puzzles :-)
But I have to revisit it. Because I wasn't aware that main menu will reset the game. So I have to start from beginning again. Nvm I was far enough to give ratings (good ones) and I put it to my collections, so I won't miss it. But I can't play it directly because I remember too much and so don't read the hints properly (I tried)
So you already know my pain-point. No idea why I wanted to pause the game (cause there is obviously no reason for it) but I tried by clicking the main menu. May you could add a warning-popup for "genius" people like me which warns that progress will be lost.
Besides that a volume-slider would be nice as well.
Ok enough complaints (please take it as constructive feedback).
Of course I also have to tell what I liked:
The mechanics are working very well and easy to get. That combined with the nice looking but also impressiv art takes care that the game is good to play. I also really like that you can change the position of the aliens! Imho thats very handy.
Overall pretty cool game and I can't wait revisiting it =)
The Eversoul by Substain 2023-01-12T09:56:20Z
I like the idea of the game. But I'm missing a reason why I should summon the knights. Because it is very risky harvesting the souls and in the end my knights don't survive that long and have nearly no impact.
May to share here some ideas. I could imagine something like that: the own knights are dealing the main damage, the summoner does not damage at all. But he could heal the own knights. Then harvesting is unavoidable.
I also found a small bug. The **overall**-Volume-slider isn't doing anything.
But good work on art and mood. I like the models of the knights very much and also well done on displaying the controls in the menu (many players don't read descriptions. So its always good to have such information also in the game itself).
Nimkip! by T C 2023-01-10T08:02:53Z
That game is really cute and the tutorial is working well. Also I like that the text-animation is skipable. The minions worked actually very well for me. They did what I've told them and it was understandable when to call them back.
What I don't understand is the Battle-System. The rabit tells me about sacrificing but I wasn't having the feeling that one of the minions would have died while fighting against them ... until that one enemy. One "wusch" and nearly all of my minions have died. Some kind of feedback would be nice. Here I could imagine multiple things: 1. An information about how many minions I currently have (if one dies that would help me) 2. Healthbars on Enemies+Minions. Specially first one because I gave up fighting that one enemy due to that I don't know how much health he has left 3. Can I recover my minions? How? 4. Why should I fight enemies. Haven't tried but I guess I could avoid them. They might should drop something thats important for me.
Also it would be nice to have a tooltip for the minions I can build. I was too fast and didn't got what blue minions are for. But because they were from price-range in the middle I decided to go with the most expensive ones.
Overall a fun game (specially for people like me who likes grinding) ... and I would say the theme is very well met :-)
Elite Brain Harvester Zombie by Pulni 2023-01-12T10:17:41Z
Omg - the audio. At first I the background-music were button-effects. Because it matched so well with my mouse movement. I'm really glad that you added the audio-checkboxes on the top. While it was very funny in the menu during gameplay it became annoying at some point. But up to that point it was very funny :D
The sound effects I first deactivated once I had all weapons unlocked (which was pretty late - I heavily concentrated on pistol).
I enjoyed playing very much and made it till level 14 with 744 brains.
There are two things I'd improve: - The colliders sometimes felt unpredictable to me. May i have overseen something due to the action but in rare cases I got stuck without understanding why. I think a tree could be an example. If I noticed it right the top of a tree can block me. - Would be nice if brains would show a healthbar once they took damage
Overall a pretty fun game :-)
Deadlicious by Tomate_Salat 2023-01-10T12:22:32Z
Thanks for the feedback so far :-)
@adam-konig Yes powerup also came through my mind. I actually wanted to use them to also make the player trying to explore the town. But (due to the nature of jams) I run out time and decided to not implement them.
@nougato Cool :-). I'm not sure anymore whats my best (specially considering the latest changes were I added new humans. That made the game harder). But I think atm I would be below 37. But with that a new idea came through my mind. In future I should add a "you beat the message" in case if one was better than me. Because I guess you would have seen it ^^.
Deadlicious by Tomate_Salat 2023-01-12T10:22:51Z
@pulni Thanks for the feedback and well done. I think I never reached 40 or higher - so you also beat my best ^^. In case of the starvation I totally agree with you. Actually I wanted to that but somehow completly forgot it in the end. The game should communicate the state of the starvation clearly and now it only shows how its going down. But the exact rate would be interesting because that one is increasing as penalty if the player doesn't eat. I should have given that priority instead of alway pushing it back for "later"
Noxious Harvest by Pe7e 2023-01-09T19:20:31Z
Imho you did very well on the exploring part and I also like the short story. The art is pretty nice and the pieces one has to collect make sense (at least I think I've understood what they do :D).
But I really missed audio on the game. That would have added a lot of atmosphere to the game.
Besides that you also could have added a timer. A game like that should always have speedrunners in mind ;-)
Overall a nice game which fullfills the theme very well :-)
Harvester Inc. by OffDutyExtractors 2023-01-12T15:31:04Z
Thats a really cool idea :-).
The learning curve is way flatter than expected. Didn't expect to get started so fast. But once I clicked the "password forgotton" link it was clear what to do.
Actually don't know what else to say here. The game looks really polished. I found the audio stressing (I would prefer a more decent or heroic soundtrack).
Tbh: throw it on steam. I would say thats in a sellable state.
Harvestracks by LucDeligne 2023-01-12T17:47:12Z
That game is pretty cool and once you got it easy but still challenging. I would also say that the missing tutorial / ingameexplanation is forgivable. Because I think here its ok to let the player figure out what to do (its doable and feels rewarding).
But the game really needs some relaxing music and sound effects. Besides that a better readable font would be good. Getting the **Q** felt like solving a captcha ^^
But overall a pretty fun game which implemnts the theme in a great way :-) Well done!
Starvesters by z0rg 2023-01-10T11:58:44Z
The game has a really great athmosphere. You start the game and think "wow!". Unfortunately it is not that good playable in the browser because it doesn't catch+hide the cursor. So when I hit screen-boundries my rotation is blocked. So it would have been nice if the game would allow me to rotate via keyboard. I guess the downloadable version would work better in that regard but for jam games I really would recommend to have web-version as highest prio.
But overall a pretty cool idea and even with problematic controls I enjoyed flying around and bumping into planets =)
Carrot Jack by RobLaro 2023-01-10T12:49:55Z
Wow - what a game. The idea is pretty cool, the graphic looks awesome and the audio fit very well. Its really a polished game and I'd a lot of fun to play.
But I also started hating you because while it is really relaxing - it is also damn hard! A missclick and you fall back by a lot. So soon or late I learned that I really had to first grow a field of carrots before harvesting. Otherwise I'd say its not possible winning that game.
Welcome to my LD52-Collection on itch. I just can repeat myself: very polished game!
nut another harvest story by WhaleJam 2023-01-09T18:02:51Z
Well - it was something different than I usually play ^^. But it is really cute. The graphics are awesome! May i will recommend that game to my wife (she loves reading-games).
There was only one thing I've missed: speeding up the text. I'm really impatiant in that regard and for me that kills replayability. Because I want to go fast to the branches I haven't read yet.
But besides that this was a really nice new experience :-)
Harvest Humans: Galactic Gathering by Bazzzing 2023-01-09T18:30:56Z
Really cool game :-)
The controls are intuitive and the game is nicely forgiving in the beginning (which is good - because I often parked above cannons ^^).
I also like that you can reach certain levels. Don't remember mine but it wasn't that high because I was too much into torturing ... eh "rescuing" the people (I wanted to collect as much as possible with the beam. For that one has to ignore the rockets).
Btw: the Art looks awesome!
Haywire by Merin Car Trunk Key 2023-01-10T11:40:43Z
For others: I had to disable my adblocker in order to get it working with brave.
I like the idea but the game raised several questions but it gets repetetive very soon. But lets start from the beginning: You should have removed the weired sound and the slider (volume?) in the main menu. I was really confused due to that and the first steps I did were trying to figure out what this slider is doing. I guess nothing?
Ingame the enemies don't feeling like enemies. Not sure but I guess I killed the boss in the beginning by accident. He was dropping particles and I wasn't sure wether I should collect or avoid them. Then suddenly he died ^^.
What kept me going was how the robot is building up himself and that at a certain point he is getting bigger. Specially the last point felt very rewarding and i wanted to see how far it goes.
Overall I think the idea has a lot potential, the theme is fully met. So please take my feedback in constructive way and keep going :-)
Veggie Survivor by Hyster 2023-01-09T17:45:13Z
I like the game idea but it is really hard to work with the auto-attack. So like already mentioned: kind of an indicator (timer) would be nice. Or attacks should appear more often so that they can become more predictable.
Besides that it would be also nice to have some kind of upgrades (heal, attack, attack speed).
And for stupid people like me: displaying the score in big letters (eh numbers) would be nice. Because I had a round were I stayed alive for a couple of minutes but guess what, I forgot to check the number of seeds =(
Vegan Robot Takeaway by coder2k 2023-01-10T08:31:00Z
I like the idea and the theme is definitivly met. But unfortunately my runs always ends with softlocking myself. In the 3rd run I thought it was my fault because first by then I noticed: the robot can become de-/activated with left-click. But also that one ended with softlock ^^.
The game idea itself is very interessting and it was fun to play until the robot got stuck. And except for that the controls worked pretty well for me.
Big Broccoli by Tevin 2023-01-09T17:22:33Z
Ok - the game is really pretty fun. Played several rounds until I finally beat the boss and was kind of sad that the game has ended there.
The game itself is hard but I like that really much. But if I could make a whish then those two things would be really cool:
1. An endless mode. Really you need an endless mode. 2. Audio (Sound effects and music)
Overall a pretty cool game which made it into my Ld52-game-collection on itch :-)
LD54 — Limited Space
Whack-a-Soul by JavaSaurus 2023-10-02T16:43:16Z
Not sure if this is intented gameplay - but I definively can say: Theme fullfilled in many ways (limited move space, limited sight and limited monitor space xD):
Unbenannt.png
In the beginning the arrows confused me a little bit (I didn't got why the want to keep me away from the chests) - well, after ignoring them and getting killed things became clear. But I think thats something the player has to learn. You need a symbol catching the attention and it got the job done.
Art and Music are really good and I also like that you can switch art-style-modes.
Good job =)
When Will You Die? by Tomate_Salat 2023-10-04T11:17:18Z
So first of all: thanks to everyone for playing and leaving a review :-)
@zenithstar Well - I wanted to have the F-Key in because the Player could oversee a medikit and he should not be able to collect by accident. The shift key I kept for one reason: once you are close to a mutant you might don't want to run. But I can absoutley understand that this feels kind of useless (I also questionned this for a long time during development).
@arachnid56 Thanks - but in regards of level design the fantastic job was mainly done by Synty ^^ - I just reused their assets here. I'm happy that you like the audio. While this is also not from me the game on intention is really sparse. But you are right - I should have added arrow-keys.
@taeghen Yes, the trees block a lot of sight. I also thought about removing them or working on the camera - but I decided to keep it how it is because it helps building up the feeling of "being lost. And actually it shouldn't be that much of an issue because there is no spawning point below trees. In regards of your second point: thats not intentional (Because I reused an existing map) - but I was hoping for that. But in order to mitigate this effect the game will provide you an indicator showing you the direction (but hides once you are close enough). But I can understand that those trees can build up a feeling of "the game is unfair". Because as a Player you have to expect that might one day a box spawns below a tree which would be terrible. And in case if you couldn't find the box then you could assume it was hidden below a tree (even if it wasn't - but there is no way for you to check). Haven't thought about that - but I should have. So thanks for pointing this out. Will keep that in mind for future games.
When Will You Die? by Tomate_Salat 2023-10-04T11:36:34Z
@arthursenpai Thanks for the feedback. Well the purpose is to surive (may MediKit was also not the best wording - actually I always thought about changing it). But in the end it doesn't save the game from feeling repetive after some days. Therefor Mutants were introduced to push this back but ofc this also has its limits.
Star hotel by Taeghen 2023-10-04T11:01:10Z
I really like the art style - it works out very well. While the concept itself was very clear it wasn't that easy to figure out which aliens can go together. Also I really would have loved to see their attributes all the time.
And yes - I can second what others said: it is really great that you allow to throw aliens to outer space xD. Once I read that I HAD TO play another round and give this a try.
Also I would say the Theme is absolutely met. I absolutely could feel the limited Space ^^
GoGoGoDots by ZenithStar 2023-10-04T10:51:03Z
Great take on the theme. Its definitively fullfilled and I like how everything is a marble. But I don't really understand how red-balls work (I assume you loose 8 points and once you reach 0 or less you've lost?). May a timer would have worked better because colliding with red balls is actually quite fun. Then I have the feeling that sometimes the game doesn't notice a collision with a green ball. May bigger hitboxes would make sense here. Also audio would have been nice. At least some "bonk"-Sounds could increase the fun by a lot :-)
Hmm ... I haven't said anything about controls yet. I find that you did a very good job on them. It really feels like you are inside a marble. So ofc they are challanging but they also should be. But they are not too challenging. Because you still have suprisingly a lot of control.
