Cute game! Love the art style!
The art style was AMAZING! There were a few bugs with the game (I passed some levels even though I didn't beat the game), bu I had fun playing it! To reiterate, I LOVED the art style !!!
Love the art of this game. The sound was pretty nice aswell.
Beautiful graphics, catchy music, and a nice game idea! I initially couldn't click on the mirrors in the fullscreen version, so I just played it in windowed mode. Lots of fun, good job!
This gameplay idea fits really well with the theme. As others have pointed out the graphics are very good. Wish I could have art like this in my games :)
Nice puzzle game! Art style / visuals / sound design are all on point! I will say that the "ten second theme" might have hurt rather than helped though - it felt like more often than not I'd win a level just by the color changing to the correct one by luck rather than having to solve for it. Excellent entry though!
I loved the puzzles, the art style and the sound design ! It was a real joy to play your game !
Really fun game ! The art is amazing and the gameplay is solid. I had some trouble to know the direction the mirror where going to turn when I click on it (maybe a visual cue would help). Also it's a bit funny how the light ray stops when it's not reaching anything (but a good clue where to aim). Just details though. Great game overall ! Parabéns !
I like art style. Cool game!
That game has such a nice art, it's pretty nice to have a story in it too! The puzzles were clever, I liked that you had to play with angles and colours
Lys is awesome! I had a lot of fun, well done!
really cool artstyle.
Very nice puzzles :) Had a lot of fun
You can tell a lot of heart went into this game. It was a fun experience! It's a little easy to just brute force and click through some of the puzzles, but it was fun to play all the way through regardless. Nice work!
Hello! long feedback sorry :c
First off, I really liked the idea of this game, I have never thought about colour changing mirror puzzles. It was well combined with the theme and it's rare to find a puzzle game that uses colour theory. It's amazing how much assets you created, background and character art, UI, gameplay assets... that's crazy! And to have a story on top of it too!
I feel like there're a few things that could help elevate the game: - I really really liked the colourful background art/cover art you created for the game, it fits the game perfectly! I wish there were posters of it <3 However, I think it was a little busy to use for the dialogue window, as there are white texts on top of it. It was a bit draining to read. I really enjoy the use of multiple colours, the aesthetics stood out in a good way, it just needs some clarity and hierarchy. Same goes for the prisms on the background art, they blended in due to the lack of edge clarity, a brighter outline in white for the prism might help?
- The levels were really fun, I liked how there were "misleading" mirrors that made me think again, I feel like that worked really well. The learning curve was also well adjusted. One issue I had was how the mirrors could only be turned towards 3 angles, but they're in a circle which implied that you can turn them 360 deg. I often found myself clicking on them multiple times to see it's maximum angles because it wasn't indicated already. And like others said, sometimes it's easy to just spam clicks on the prisms to solve that puzzle.
That being said, I think mirror puzzles are some of the most difficult and intricate puzzles to design, so you guys did really well for picking such an ambitious theme. You may have already seen these two games for inspo: Portal & Talos principle. They had some really well designed laser puzzles.
Awesome puzzle game, had a fun time playing it! Really liked all the art and the character designs
The concept of this game is really strong. But I think it could have benefitted from some animations/transitions/easing etc. Winning a level is instant and sometimes not I didn't know I even completed the level correctly, it just went on. It is also difficult to see which angles a mirror can be in, maybe allowing full rotation would be nice but limit each mirror purely by range?
I like the art and the dialog in the game! Overall a very nice entry!
Great looking art and I like having a story to drive the game! The gameplay started off straightforward but got a bit confusing for me, I managed to finish the game by almost randomly clicking mirrors and crystals in the approximate direction I wanted to go. I really like the idea of combining colors though!
I really like the artwork, and I appreciate the dialog/story to move things forward
Very cute artwork! Love the style and general vibes of this game. The gameplay was a bit too boring and easy for me, but I can see the potential in it.
Great concept! I found it a bit confusing at first which color would be shifted to on each rotation, but got the hang of it by the end. Would love to see how much more could be added to the boss fight, the multiple targets over time added a nice new layer of complexity :)
Great game !! really good concept. Got stuck in middle for a while but figured out the way later. Awesome work for a limited time jam. You should go with this concept further. A little more work from the SFX sides would have done wonder, but then again the time was limited so I can understand the complexity. Overall really good job. Please do check out my submission as well.
I love the artwork and the characters are cute, however, I felt like I was only clicking on the mirrors until the ray touched the next mirror and repeat til it touch the end. It was a bit too easy and not very interesting
Overall a good entry! The mechanics were pretty fun. Some feedback: - the next button in the UI blended in, that it wasn't clear it was a next button at first - the level ends so abruptly and the next one starts, would be good to have a bit of a transition
Keep on making games
I managed to get through the whole game :) Nice puzzle game and interesting style. Great job!
I am the world savior!
I enjoyed the game. It's a nice concept, although gameplay is a bit too easy. Because the light changes on its own and there are no consequences of making an improper setup, the player can basically click blindly to set the mirrors and then wait for the right color of light to come, without even understanding the mechanics of the light change. In all the levels but the last one - in the last level, the timer plus the amount of portals you have to vanquish add up to fun gameplay (as there you actually have to think about what you're doing). More levels like that one would be cool!
The character art is great, and I will definitely remember Lys. I was voicing over the characters as I played, providing some fun to my husband as well :smile_cat:
It would be nice, if there would be some level transition screen. And some sfx when setting mirrors and prism. The background under the text is a bit too busy and too saturated (drawing attention away from the text and making reading harder on the eyes).
PS. This is the fourth game made by you that I played, and I see you are starting to create a connected universe . Is Mindy also connected to Lys and Becky, I wonder?
Hi @fabula-rasa, thank you very much for the words! About Lys's level design, we had a lot of ideas during the conception of the game, but as always, being a gamejam, we ended up not being able to put everything we wanted into practice. The idea of redirecting light rays, and mixing colors, seemed simple in theory, but we realized that it would be something daring to do (in 3 days) in a way that made sense.
But yes, we agree that most of the levels are quite easy, and many players end up finishing without understanding the mechanics. We tried to find a balance between difficulty and fun, but because of the rush this balance was a little sacrificed I would say.
Anyway, we are taking into account everything that is being said here to improve as game developers. I am happy with this community interaction.
And about the connection between the universe of our games: Glad to ask that!
We like to "play" a bit with the idea of all our games here at LudumDare having some kind of connection. I believe this leaves open some story possibilities and even (why not?), the return of some characters in other games, in other LDs, with other themes. I think this is a way for the player to connect more easily with our games, because he might think "Hmm, I think I've seen this somewhere". Of course, this is not a rule, which will define whether a game is good or not (far from it). But it's something I find interesting to have around.
And answering briefly about the connections between the characters, I would say that they are very superficial connections (for now). Lys is Becky's sister (the baby sitter of the demon baby), and the "demon baby" is the son of Mindy (LD 48), and Sryni (LD 47). If you want to understand these connections a little better, take a look at this post: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/lys/$310630 (in this post there is another link to an older post that I had made during to LD49, explaining about these connections).
Yes, it's a pretty crazy universe! Hahaha
PS: Sorry for the long answer!
This is a really cute game! I love the art and the characters, I think it's super cool that you were able to get the dialogue into the game as well. The puzzles and moving the mirrors around is fun to figure out as well. Overall, really nice job!
Concise puzzle game which seemed simple enough as I got into it. I didn't read the big block of text but just mashing between the colours worked for me :D Good stuff
Nice concept. I don't think the 10 second theme really meshed well with the puzzle game you guys made. Early puzzles you have to just wait for the color to change and later ones can easily be solved by spamming the prisms until you pass. Sometimes I solved puzzles without knowing it and I couldn't see what I did because the next level would load. I wish there was a slowed down win animation that follows through the beam step by step. I liked the character art and their expressions changing through the dialog. I liked the comic book background art too. I had fun playing. Good job.
The artwork is super nice . Great color choices and the music makes this game feel awsome.
Very fitting mechanics, beautiful art, awesome you even have a narrative put in place! O:
