Such an ominous, creepy game! The music is absolutely wonderful! It could've been a super banal game, but it managed to avoid that perfectly!

anton4ik-dev 2022-10-04 09:35

Cool sound, art and story. But it can be better if you give player possibility to scroll all post even when he tries to decide who is the killer. And of course it's bad connection with JAM theme)

jammin 2022-10-04 09:54

@anton4ik-dev yeah, at the end, we realized that the theme was more of a restrain. If we have to release a post-jam version, we'll probably let the player navigate freely in Instacrime.

tibseydon 2022-10-04 15:40

@anton4ik-dev unfortunatly, our connection with the thème is not well shown, but its exists héhé. Each clue / instacrim post has a duration of 10 seconds ;)

Very interesting concept. I couldn't figure out the murder by myself. Finally got to the ending by bruteforcing through it :) It was pretty cool, nice work!

I got super into it! Pulled out a pen and paper and frantically wrote down names, objects and whatever else I thought might be relevant.

It took a few tries but I figured it out! It was satisfying to see the art reflect the actual conclusion, too. I had no questions or moments of "how was I supposed to know that?!". It was great! Fantastic art, music and super interesting gameplay.

Wow such an interesting title! I love the idea of watching this slideshow so to speak of social media posts and trying to untangle a murder. I definitely struggled with it in terms of finding out, as it felt like I didn't catch on to anything hahah but I was probably missing lots. I thought the audio was absolutely phenomenal to sell such a great eerie atmosphere. Really nice job!

Loved the artstyle!

saltysa 2022-10-06 19:02

Sadly the posts are going by a little too fast for me to really look into it as much as I would need but I managed to make it to the end! I loved the idea of just using instagram post to figure out the situation. I also liked the style, simple but effective.

Mr. Jingle is really cute

nick-gozak 2022-10-06 19:02

Art and sound are definetelly very good and stylsih. Really nice job with it. But I didn't found out on how I was supposed to make notes( There was no notebook in the game for it) Unfortunately I couldn't find out who was a murderer in three tries, because I saw only one or two connections between posts)

tobiasd 2022-10-06 19:05

Reminded me of the game Dead Man's Phone which given what you created in 3 days, is amazing! -Great music -Lovely art -Great vibe I honestly really struggled to get a sense of the murder and motive I'm afraid though. SPOILER: Did Katyln kill her because she stole her Pokemon cards? Honestly, I couldn't even remember the name of the victim as soon as it wasn't on screen ha ha! Would be great if you could find a way of establishing who is who earlier on in your story (match names to accounts to profile pictures). Or have an onscreen note pad to make notes. Really gorgeous work tho.

Great game! Was hard at first but then finding clues was really fun. Love the art and music, the idea of using instagram stories is great, well done!

ofiro 2022-10-06 19:52

My first guess was right. I thought I must be missing something so continued looking.

There are still some things that aren't so obvious to me, but the game was very well made and I really enjoyed it.

jammin 2022-10-07 15:56

@tobiasd We are really glad you loved the game! We wanted to say who is who in a more obvious way (like via tags in photo), but we lacked time to implement that. As we sayed in a previous comment, if we have to update the game, we will remove the 10s limit to let people have time to write notes down. SPOILER : Yeah, Katlyn did kill Emma because she stole here pokemon card collection. For that, she used the walker of her boyfriend's grandmother.

misfire-dev 2022-10-10 22:41

I still have no idea who out of the character's was murdered when i'm looking at the posts BUT I still had a good time doomscrolling through this murder mystery.

ryusui 2022-10-12 04:11

Clever presentation, great artwork, good music, questionable mystery. I feel a little cheated that all the drama hinged on something so banal - I never would've caught on to "stolen Pokemon cards" as a motive for a murder mystery, and if the game had been upfront with it, I would probably have mistaken it for a joke answer. @_@;

Plus, as others have noted, the lack of information about the case's dramatis personae as well as the inability to scroll freely back and forth through the posts seriously hinders the player's ability to investigate.

bqq 2022-10-12 12:36

Now that's an unique entry, love the concept! Was able to figure out the game after maybe 5 or so loops but without brute forcing, the puzzles were just hard enough for me to solve (and I'm not known for perception skills :D) so I'd say it's quite well balanced. The art looks great and the music is very fitting as well!

I think there's some Godot-related issue where it loads the pictures when you advance and the music stutters for a while, it doesn't happen on further replays, not sure if there's some way to preload these. Also with the theme it seems like many are struggling with the same thing where it hinders some aspect of the gameplay, for me I didn't mind it as it felt something like a "stories" type feature which are naturally timed.

Oh yea and the scenario writing was really good as well, all the posts felt natural and the mystery didn't feel ham-fisted in there, great work all :D
