cubungus master of running
cha-cha!
This was a cool idea! I like the thought of dimensions switching and causing new mechanics. The music really sells it and the visuals were cool to go along with it.
I couldn't figure out how to become the master of running unfortunately. It would have been nice since the level is large. Maybe a map or something to guide the player would help. Some of the mystic orbs didn't seem to do anything so I couldn't find the carrots.
Overall, really cool! I hope to see more games from you guys.
The music was very fun!! Gameplay wise, I struggled to feel like I was progressing, and I only felt like I was walking around and avoiding stuff, but I enjoyed my time doing so!
I lost myself in the map :( But I love the idea of different dimension with different timer :) Good job ;)
For the begginers it's ok. Of course you have problem with gamedesign but you have nice mechanic at least
Great sound design and overall style of game! Good job!
Hey, thanks for playing my game. I'll give some feedback as a first-time player. I played several times. One time I died to the sleeping monster, thought it was harmless. The map is pretty big, it could be useful a minimap or something that allow you to guide through the level. For the switches, I wonder if there's someway to visually connect the switches to the gates, that way you can figure out where the corresponding switch of a gate is located, maybe in one of the dimensions directly see the wires. Another thing, when you activate the switch you can also deactivate it, that could be dangerous if the gate is too far away, you can't tell if it's open or closed. Overall congratulations on your first game! The music is very nice. It's really a great start, you brought an idea to life in 72 hours. Hope we see each other again in Ludum Dare 52!
Really solid entry for a first game! The dimension hopping is a neat idea, but the map ended up being so large that I kept getting lost with the modest player speed. I got up to the yellow orb and *saw* the red orb but not the way there, after running around for a while I lightly touched a bear and ragequit :D Some checkpoints could be nice for future games (a thing that's lacking from many LD entries). But all in all a very good first-time effort, thanks for allowing both WASD and arrow keys!
I found the map was a bit too large, it helped to make the game harder though. I really enjoyed the change in the mood idea and the music. Well done overall!
Great first game! I agree with the other comments that the map is too big and that it's unclear what kind of danger the enemies pose. Might be a good idea to have one in a cage you can observe on the way in like a little tutorial. (There might have been something like this, and if I missed it, it's because the map is too big  )
I died from touching the grass (I think?) but I really liked the bears sleeping at different times and having to sneak past them
The art looked good, and the transition beetween dimensions were pretty smooth! Music sounded great and fit each dimension, but it looks like you have used third party music and according to the rules you should opt out of the audio category
for a first game jam, i think you guys did great!! there's a huge map with many puzzles to figure out, so a lot to discover and play around with. with regards to level design, i think for the next time, your team can really benefit from building a level that gives the player more direction, especially if the puzzles need to be solved in a certain order.
the choice in music was fantastic! i really like that the feel changed every ten seconds, as well as the colors in-game! for the next time you guys do something similar, i would recommend starting the next round of music from where it left off (i.e. round 1 is 1-10 seconds of each track, then round 2 is 11-20 seconds of each track, that way the same 10 seconds of music isn't played over and over again each round, if that makes any sense!) i did enjoy that when the slow-time button was pressed, the music played slower, too!
i really loved the pixel art for the bear, the spheres, and the grass!! i think it would've been really neat to see cubungus' design have similar detail.
overall, it was awesome to play what you guys came out with for your first jam!! i hope you had fun, were able to learn a lot, and will participate again in the future
Great job on your first game! I had a lot of fun with this! I love the changing of "dimensions" and how you queued it up with different music for each. It was nice to be able to see the order clearly with the timer at the top too. I'd love to see the mechanic explored more with more things you can do with each color, but of course there's only so much time in a jam! I also felt like the rooms were a little bit too big meaning I could walk for a long time not encountering anything or knowing where to go. But overall, really great job! I love the bear art btw haha
Good use of the theme. I appreciate the varied behavior of the enemies across dimensions, and the fun little Easter egg. It was a nice touch to implement a slowdown effect instead of a sprint; they basically have the same effect, but slowdown plays more to the theme. Great job on your first jam, and keep it going!
