I flipped the raft all the bits flew everywhere but apparently I won

The game actually was surprisingly fun. I really wanted to see what would happen if I escaped. It was a little anticlimatic. Might be interesting if it is a tub and you could try to swim underwater to pull the plug and drain it. Also, sound and maybe an idea of your captor would be fun. I always enjoy story in game.

@evanm That's all part of it :P! Jk, thanks for letting me know. It's been a tricky issue to track down. For now there's a fix to stop the raft from completely exploding, so it just gets jiggly.

@dk5000p Thanks for the play through! I totally agree with all of your comments. At the end of the day it was mostly a time thing. I had DEFINITELY thought about doing some kind of swimming underwater / drain type thing. It would be sick, maybe for LD43 :).

Interesting concept! Controls are great as its really satisfying to move around on the water. Liked the flavour text that appears too. Would like to see it fleshed out a bit more :)

Overall nice game. You water simulation is really neat, and the idea in itself is also great, especially since there is a clear goal to be accomplished.

Two things I would change: increase the pacing (either make the water level rise faster or lower the box height) and make the text more readable (e.g. so that I don't have to tilt my head left and right). The first is especially important, as I was lacking motivation to go for a second attempt.

Also thank you for pointing out the link issue.

Pretty fun, although (like my Jam entry) it could use some sound :)

Interesting concept and awesome physics, the amount of water particles is insane, but the gameplay needs more variety

That's an interesting concept right here, nice job. Took me a while to figure out what's happening haha. I guess you need to be "surfing" in order to keep yourself on the top. Although I found myself not being able to see anything when submerged, and randomly pressing the keys to magically come to the surface...

Didn't rate the game yet, but just letting everyone know - streaming this game is quite risky, as it does melt the CPU a bit (I'm on i7-6700K 4,00 GhZ) and makes the stream die, as OBS don't have enough power to send the footage :)

Very interesting concept, executed quite well but uses a bit too much CPU real estate :P so it gets quite laggy fast. You could've just limited it to like half of the cores a user has or something like that. Could use some sound as well but a really cool game nonetheless. Good job!

The theme was done really well-- not just the idea, but also the implementation of it into the game.

The gameplay I think could be a little better if it was faster-paced, and perhaps had some checkpoints. With that being said, I still like it. I also like how I can really feel the water overwhelming me-- not only does it make me feel panicked watching that meter go down, but it also makes me feel like I'm running out of space as I get buried under the water.

The visuals, although basic, aren't unappealing. I thought you did especially good on the water particles!

Overall, I think this is a neat little game with an interesting concept!

Interesting concept, great water. :potable_water: Maybe can be a goal in the game (for example, transport something) to make the gameplay more dynamic.

Your game is very nice to play. The general impact is positive. As a professional game dev I would suggest... just kidding haha Nonetheless, if you want to work on this project more I suggest making a difficulty incresing algorithm. Graphics - very nice. Controls are also working very well. Maybe you could also take a glimpse at my game? I already enlarged it into a wholesome Android game :)

I love it. It's simple and enjoyable. I love the look of the water too, even if you felt it chugging along by the end of it. Really interesting tack on the jam. Amazing work!

interesting concept

koala-squad 2018-09-04 14:19

Great work! The concept here is quite interesting, and the physics are impressive! It's not really optimized well though, because I was running at about 6 frames per second or less by the end of it, and I have a pretty powerful computer. The graphics are quite good, and both the raft and the water looked really nice, although the background and the cube container didn't look quite as good. The mood is awesome too, with the nice descriptive text and the great feeling of being out at sea in a cube! As far as fun goes though, it mechanically was just spinning around the torrent of water the entire game, but the visual appeal helped make it a lot more fun, especially with the quirky raft physics! Great job!

Cheers! - The Koala Squad

Nice game! The physics seems well done and I like the minimalistic 3d Graphics! Drowning in a limited space is also a great usage of the theme to be honest! =)
