Feels like playing GameBoy Color again!

abi-code16 2023-05-02 05:58

It is so funny!

jag 2023-05-02 05:59

I loved this!! So much cute and fun packed into so little pixels! It took me a few deaths at the beginning to figure out that I wasn't supposed to press space until I want to release them, I guess some game instinct kicked in and I just mashed spacebar. But once I got it, the game loop was so good! I love the music

random-ideation-studios 2023-05-02 06:15

I am not a pro gamer but it was tough but I can feel game is good!!

greenwooddrive 2023-05-02 06:16

Great entry ! Funny use of the theme :) Small game but its not as easy as it seems to drop these little monkeys on the land. Great work <3

kgurniak91 2023-05-02 07:23

Really nice game, pretty addictive. I loved the pixelart graphics. Music was catchy. Made me nostaglic because the character looked like Goku from Dragon Ball on the cloud.

joscco 2023-05-02 07:45

That's so simple in the mechanics but yet so challenging and manages to hook you immediately! Very well done, the music is catchy too! Love it ❤️🐒

abipup 2023-05-02 13:07

THIS GAME IS SO CUTE I LIKE MONKEYS

causalpigeon 2023-05-03 06:20

Fun little game. Love how you're using the same character and naming scheme. Thought that was cool. Does seem there is a small visual glitch where the characters hand pixels are to the left of them in a thin line. Keep up the great work!

auxc 2023-05-03 06:21

O, this is hard! I absolutely love the neat presentation and vibrant colors. Very much agree with the comment mentioning GameBoy feels, and in the best way too. Great job!

dxk2294 2023-05-03 06:22

There do be monkeys sometimes...

Surprisingly difficult! I love the sound design. Nice job

rohanmoon 2023-05-03 06:33

Very nice, I love the theme. The artstyle and chiptune audio mixed well together. I loved the core mechanic, getting lower with each monkey made you a bit stressed about running out of time, but it also made it easier to drop them on the land, a very nice self-balancing mechanic. Very well designed. My only feedback is I think you should have given more than one life, and let me drop more baby monkeys...look I know how bad that sounds but please let me make mistakes!

foursay 2023-05-03 18:41

classic style as usual! imagining create a series of games in ld and keep a consistent style

tetrapteryx 2023-05-03 19:11

Simple but effective, and really nicely polished! The art style is very cute. I was awful at getting the timing right and kept dropping monkeys into the ocean, but had a lot of fun playing it anyway. The one thing that I wouild have appreciated, as someone who is Bad at the game, is some extra lives so one failure doesn't end the run instantly.

mpk90 2023-05-03 19:11

This game is so hard. Sometimes I collect 3- 4 Monkeys, but the position of the next island is hard to reach. I love the Dragon Ball reference

fidrik 2023-05-03 20:10

hard but fun and polished, nice game!

yellow 2023-05-06 01:19

@janures I also love Gameboy very much and I still revisit some of the games when I have time.

@abi-code16 Thanks! 😀

@jag I can only send a few monkeys home, haha!

@random-ideation-studios Thank you for your like!

@greenwooddrive If I had more time, I would make it even more fun!

@kgurniak91 I also really like Dragon Ball! And my character was also inspired by the very famous Chinese novel, 'Journey to the West'.

@joscco @fidrik Oh! That's a high appraisal! Thank you very much!

@abipup :slight_smile: , look at your avatar! :monkey_face: monkey.gif

@causalpigeon I didn't notice this, thank you so much buddy!

@auxc Thanks! GameBoy is awesome!

@dxk2294 It's indeed a bit challenging. If time permits, I will strive to make it more balanced! Perhaps I will refine it later! Thank you for playing, bro!

@rohanmoon @tetrapteryx @mpk90 Maybe I should consider adding a casual mode! If time permits, I will strive to make it more balanced!! But I don't want to give up any of the little monkeys, ! Thank you for playing!

@foursay I can only draw this simple art style  . Wishing you a happy day!

causalpigeon 2023-05-06 02:42

@yellow ldjamthrowawaycommentimage.PNG Heres a screenshot if that helps. If you're using Unity you can just import the pixel perfect camera package and it solves issues like this. Also if you're using a tilesheet it can create weird lines like these. Its in my jam submission but due to how I have the camera working its less noticeable. Didn't use the pixel perfect camera at the start because you kind of need to make your game around it and forgot to add it until it was too late.

yellow 2023-05-06 03:05

@causalpigeon Ah! This issue would appear in full screen mode!

I want to be good friends with you! I cannot express my gratitude in English. It's not my native language.

谢谢!

causalpigeon 2023-05-06 03:08

@yellow You are welcome have an amazing day aswell! Your english is so good I could not even tell it was not your native language.

yellow 2023-05-06 04:35

@causalpigeon I have already updated! The best solution I can think of now is to use a picture to block both sides. :smirk:

thomastournoys 2023-05-06 23:01

The game is a bit too difficult for me, but either way I loved it, it's so charming and fun

I also love the consistency of game titles and art style between jams, would be nice to see a compilation of them all

jacobingalls 2023-05-07 02:18

Feels like a good game for the Playdate too; though I would request lives...

amarokczukay 2023-05-15 12:55

fun and cute little game, however two things killed a bit the fun to me: i was super bad a making the monkeys land on earth, most of the time i got them by total chance, so i've never been further than 4. i also wish the restart button appears faster, since i was losing a lot, i wanted to try again faster. i love how your 3 games follow each other!
