LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Hydra by bentglasstube 2022-04-21T09:16:34Z

Very interesting and fun game! The controls were different than what I'm used to, which I think make it more interesting to try to avoid the asteroids. At first it was quite fun to dodge the obstacles but near the end it got so chaotic I basically just run around in circles. Also, it seems that there's no reason ever to stop shooting, so maybe it could be done automatically instead of having to press a button?

Overall, very well done, and getting this done using C++/SDL2 on a game jam is seriously impressive!

Clear Skies with a Chance of Meteors by chriiis88 2022-04-21T08:48:26Z

Saved 190 people! Fun game with a short and engaging gameplay loop that isn't hard to understand! Sometimes I got trivial decisions, like having 2 of the same card or having "Accelerate -1" vs "Advance 10 Accelerate -1", but that doesn't take much away from the overall experience! Good Job!

I'd hope there were a bit less flavor text so that you can get into the decisions quicker, but I still think this is a pretty good idea! It'd be nice if there was a little more visual intricacy, like having the currently speaking character pop out a bit more or something like that. Overall, unique take on the idea and pretty interesting game! Well Done!

Very fun! Reminds me of WarioWare with all the quick minigames that have to be completed. Some minigames get repetitive after a bit (like the Gouda one, for example) while others have more replay value (such as having to quickly scan the map looking for The Comrade). I like the humor and sound effects as well! Well Done!

Save prisoner Ryan by Maxime Cyr 2022-04-21T19:35:03Z

Very fun! I wasn't familiar with the kinds of controls at play here, but figuring them out was a fun experience! Still pretty hard, but the good kind of hard ;)

I don't usually play strategy games, but the way you only have to control a few units made it quite approachable! Having to decide where to place each vehicle with threats coming from all angles was an interesting challenge, but I think it took way too long to complete a single level: I'd enjoy it more if the gameplay loop was faster, maybe by having a smaller map or having actions happen quicker, I don't know lol. In the end, very nice and fun game!

We Have to Talk by Oleg Bone 2022-04-21T01:24:11Z

Quite a charming game! I like the simple art style, the funny interactions, the light hearted theme, it all fits quite well together. Well Done!

Keep It Warm by Fifut 2022-04-21T09:47:16Z

Very simple but charming! The graphics are very simple, but stuff like the squash & stretch when hitting objects make it more interesting. I wish the gameplay was a bit more interesting, because right now it devolves into walking to the right to get a tree and then walking back to burn it until you lose. However, still a pretty nice, funny game. Well Done!

Impossible Journey by Thulyo Araujo 2022-04-21T19:53:17Z

Wow! Making all of this using plain Java is really impressive! The combat felt well paced and smooth. Some enemies took a long time to kill and I didn't quite manage to beat the game. But overall, had a fun time with it! Well Done!

Live Long And Prosper by i_am_lloric 2022-04-21T03:32:48Z

Fun, cute little game! I like how with each playthrough you get different events so it has more re-playability, and I also like the humor at show. The graphics are nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done as well as it needs to. Would be nice to have some more *oompf* to the UI, but this is still quite a charming game! Good Job!

Lights Out by Dan Livings 2022-04-21T01:30:41Z

The art style is simple but fits the game quite well!

I think the basic idea going on is solid, but it needs more unique ideas to really stand out. Maybe having a cooldown on clicking a block so you have to expand out to a wider area, or maybe there's a "sweet spot" that moves around the level so you have a reason to explore different sections of the board, adding some time-based mechanics, or something along those lines.

I think this could be quite promising as a mobile game!
