Really nice take on horror game for a game jam. The monster is really REALLY scary (I actually shouted when I first saw it). too bad, because the "life" depletes really fast and goes up when you pick the papers, I had to read very fast and it was a bit frustrating. I was a bit confused as if there was a way to stop the monster or not.
Still a really strong entry for the jam.

Too scary for me! But that's definitely a good thing in this case :) Didn't get to see much of the art, but it looks really good from the screenshots.

The horror here was in how fast you expected me to read those notes...!
But seriously, I was even prepared for the damn thing to jump out at me, and it still made me jump anyway...! Wasn't expecting... whatever *that* was, so... for a first horror game, good job, you spooked me.
The atmosphere was good as well. Just the environment in general, actually. I wasn't a big fan of the transitions between areas. I quit out the first time, thinking the game had crashed, but it was okay once I got used to it.
Was a bit hard to get all that immersed whilst I was having to blaze through the text before the uhh... *thing* caught up with me. I think I'd have been able to enjoy your environment and atmosphere design more if I hadn't been concentrating on reading quite so hard.
Overall, great work!

Aaaaaaa. It's too scary! It's night outside now, I can't play such a game at night. Atmosphere - 100% horror. And these sounds... Sorry, but I'll try again tomorrow.

It's nice to meet horror that can scare even if you know what's going to happen. Great job, you guys are great!
great environment, really horror! the graphics and all the assets are really good, and with those sounds it really becomes a great horror scene overall!
Nice ambient you created there, I think the problem is you have to read + explore at the same time, it's not easy to focus on the gameplay along with the story/background. I managed to read like 70% of it. I felt a pressure on my shoulders every second that my light was depleting, so the tension you bring feels very good. The thing I was a bit confused about as well are the dark corridors. At first I didn't know if it was a corridor I was supposed to walk in or just a little loading screen. Overall, I think you've completed a nice horror game! Well done!
The simple 3D geometry, textures, sound and lighting was brilliantly put together to achieve the feeling of horror. The periodic darkness was a creative mechanic after I figured out it wasn't a cutscene and I could still move around. Ctrl+move crashes the game
Great game! I really liked the enemy, it took a while for me to actually be able to catch a glimpse of it before it would get me (it kept getting me from behind), but when I finally got to see it running after me it was a pretty creepy experience! Also, you call this a "generic" horror game, but I actually like the unique take you made on the common "notes all over the place" thing. In most horror games I've seen, the notes are left by other people in the story, which never made a whole lot of sense (why would someone just randomly scribble a note someplace?) but you made it make a whole lot more sense, the story being about a person stuck in some kind of loop and leaving notes around to help themselves figure out how to escape. That being said, I personally couldn't figure out how to finish the game. Are you just supposed to collect all the notes, or is it the fire ball things that you want to get? Other than that bit of confusion though, I really liked this game. Great graphics, audio, and storyline. Well done!

I was facing away from IT when I played. Coming here and seeing people talk about IT made me go back to replay the game, but that video on the page served the same purpose. Creepy, but kind of hilarious.

Enjoyed playing a horror game :)
Not a huge fan of jump scares but i know I'm a minority in the genre.
The audio was creepy and I liked the graphics.
I wish the fog/lighting was tweaked a bit in the transitions between connecting areas. It felt bugged/broken/that I wasn't moving in the correct direction. I think the time ticking down detracts from the narrative on the notes. Maybe pausing the game to read them would help.

This looks awesome, ngl, I'm too scared to try it.. might have to convince my bf and teammate to do it tomorrow, while I watch through my fingers with hands in front of my eyes ^^
Cool game nice graphics
I like this game, it's atmospheric and cool! Keep it up:)
It took me a while to realize I should just keep walking when the screen goes black. But once I did and was able to read 9 of the notes, I was really hooked and wanted to see the ending. But I can't figure it out! Nice graphics and mood. Wish I could figure out how to get to the end!

@daniel-username Thanks for playing! You've just listed main issues with the game right now. Firstly, those "screen goes black" corridors. Secondly, no time to read notes. And finally, the game's ending. So basically, the game ends with you being chased by a monster. It's like an endless loop. Finding all 10 notes is the highest you can get out of the game. Then, you just get chased by the monster, after timer goes down. Since, it isn't fair to add or change any features to the game at the moment, we are going to do it after the jam ends. Have a nice day :)
@aniki-ta ah cool, makes sense! Good luck!

Nice, that was actually pretty scary, and the artwork suited the mood well. I did also get a bit confused by the black transitions screens, as I originally thought they were loading screens.
I always love the indie vision of horror story, they are more fresh, its a great implementation, the feeling of the nightmare in each part its really well applied. Amazing job

Okay, so I played this (although I said in your blog post I wouldn't because AFRAID haha) and I'm happy I did it :) I like stuff when it's not too scary, and finding out about mysterious, gorey stuff (think like Fallout vault type stuff etc.) so I liked finding these notes, and the audio made this very athmospheric :)
Sadly I died after exciting the first scene? Although I'm kind of glad because I read there's a jumpscare somewhere and I fucking hate jump scares lol, I wish that would be generally agreed upon to make them illegal xD (Still curious about the story though, so I might make someone play it and watch ^^)
Liked the notes, the story really seemed very interesting :) I just wish I could escape the curse of Arial for once in this gamejam :P
(Seriously guys.. just download ANY font and put the .ttf or .otf file into your project! ^^)
good job buddy on finishing your game!

Wow that was scarier than I thought it would be. Great monster design, although you can sometimes miss it if you're looking the wrong way. I'm not sure if there was any way to win the game but either way you definitely conveyed the feeling of a never ending nightmare.

The atmosphere is much more scarier than the actual monster. I felt a sense of eeriness everytime i traveled through each room. The strange music coupled with the level design fits the horror aspect of the game.mpc-hc64_yoMJmuqGeZ.png
