11/10 ! that was my favorite game so far! what a lovely experience! great work, as a jazz musician my self it was so much fun to tap along with and listen to the music play.

Turtle is me. Super neat idea and great execution.

I have absolutely no experience in playing instruments and I suck at creating music, BUT this gem was very fun to experience. I really felt like I was contributing to the "band" and the groove was very fun to listen to! The art flowed with the music and just added to the mood. This was a very fun experience thank you very much!

Woow, this is my favourite LDJAM-47 entry so far, what an experience to player! how smooth the gameplay & music cooperate. Just congratz!

This makes me so happy, really brightened up my day. Thank-you!

smooooooooooth!!! great job guys. Really moody. The solo highlight was a great addition

ashashza 2020-10-12 08:38

This jam oozes smoothness.

I thought the subtle touches in this were really clever like the single screen tutorial which completely introduces all the controls with very little friction. The spotlight that suggests a solo is great at gently suggesting a way to play without ever forcing anything. And the audience clapping intro really helps sell the mood for me.

Aaaah that was beautiful! What an experience! I've wanted to do an idea similar to this for a while now but am nowhere near musical enough to pull it off. But you folks proved you have the talent. Visuals were perfect, so warm and hyggelig as the danish would put it. I particularly loved the sloth, felt like everything I made him play on his double bass sounded superb.

As great as it is, I do believe there must be a way to improve the logic even further, so players can both feel like the music being played is more spontaneous while at the same time cheating a bit on the timings so they are always a little more to the beat (tho that may just be my bad tempo honestly). I think keyboard and guitar would sound better with chords rather than notes possibly?

Anyway these are just nitpicks to consider if you take this idea further (which I'd love to see!).

Really stunning.

That's brilliant! Artwork and animation are so warm and cozy, and the jazz flows.. That was wonderful experience, thank you, guys!

Nice! Awesome idea, great art and very chill vibes. I love the concept of using jazz as the basis for improvised gameplay - the soloing mechanic was really cool. Musically it was fun to mess around in, though the notes being random made it hard to actually feel like you're controlling much of anything beyond the rhythm. (Wonder if it might be cool to have the 2 buttons instead ascend & descend the current scale respectively?) Rhythmically, I guess the triplets were intended to allow for swing but if you played more densely it feels pretty robotic and kind of obliterates the feeling of swing which is weird for jazz. I don't want to nitpick too much as encoding the idea of "jazz soloing" in a video game is a pretty intense task and this is a great take on it, especially for a jam. Awesome work! :D

I was vibing super hard with this game, even though I don't have much musical experience. Seems like a great way of introducing people like me to improv. I also absolutely love the artstyle of this game!

Great work!

andre-sadie 2020-10-13 19:16

What a pleasant experience. The art, sound and overall atmosphere was perfect. As a person with absolutely no musical abilities I was mostly just mashing buttons and even that sounded pretty decent. Good job.

killerkun 2020-10-14 07:51

This was a brand new idea and while I don't get exactly how this is trapped in a loop, I loved the execution. you guys did a fantastic job with it and I would love to see more of this in the future. The only thing I wished is it didn't snap my inputs to the beat, or at least an option to turn it off.

cerka 2020-10-14 10:36

An absolute 5! Really nice entry, so far one of my favorite :) I really appreciate music games on this Jam! Only thing which I didn't completely liked was that small delay between pressing a button and hearing the sound. Also, check our game, it's a bit different take on a music loop! I think you will enjoy it!

krysh 2020-10-14 11:01

@cerka thank you so much! I played Stuck in a Loop and I'm really enjoying it, I finally got past room 3 and now stuck on room 4 lol. I think I'm just bad at puzzles :face_palm:

cerka 2020-10-14 13:19

@krysh Well the puzzles themselves aren't very worked out :D w didn't have enough time :(

jelch 2020-10-15 19:48

Really unique take on the theme!

dans17 2020-10-15 20:05

I loved the idea, it was fun to play, and the art and music really set the mood well! Changing the scale slightly and snapping the rhythm to 16th notes instead of 8ths for the solos was a nice touch. I personally would have liked having more control, such as having one button go up a random interval in the scale and having another button go down, but I appreciate that you made something than anyone can pick up and play.

pee-thief 2020-10-19 01:44

I love this so much!! beautiful perfect game

voidfishing 2020-10-19 21:59

I loved this!! the characters are adorable and the art style really suits it - the ambient noise from the audience is a really nice touch, too. this is coming from someone who knows next to nothing about actual music theory, but I really enjoyed jamming around with all the buttons; the sound design is really good and always made me feel like I was in time/in tune. the spotlight solos are great! :)

nsadie 2020-10-21 09:59

Wonderful mood, audio and art! I really enjoyed this!

Being not great at music, I did not feel I have a lot of control, I merely played along, pressing buttons semi-randomly.

nickzouk 2020-10-26 00:13

really nice game ! Good job guys !! loved it

jakob-reborn 2020-10-26 17:24

Wow! One of the best games I played so far! I could play it forever actually :) At times I felt that it's a little non responsive but that didn't ruin the experience. Magnificent work :)

the-sin-preacher 2020-10-26 17:47

Waaaaaah best game ever !! This is the game I won't delete after playing. Thanks for this experience mates !!!

drprettypatty 2020-10-27 01:46

Solid 5 stars from me, wow. Perfectly sized concept and amazing execution for a jam! Even the little controls tutorial at the start was great. You probably thought of this already, but it would be sweet if double pressing the keys led to a chord, although I'm sure that would be harder to compose and program with the tempo fudging. Thanks for making this!

noakishere 2020-10-27 15:34

This was my favourite game of the jam. I just loved everything. 5/5 for sure ! God I loved this game so freaking much. Thank you for this !
