The graphics and UI looks amazing! It could have a bit more clear feedback from the actions and how the affect the elder god.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → Deep down the Abyss

Not very intuitive(for example, is the GUI thing the gods health or mine?) but quite fun! The graphics do look amazing, i really like how both of the old gods look. The sound and music is just as good! Quite a nice game!
very nice
As said above, Graphics/UI/Mood are just perfect! I just spend most of my gameplay thinking the globe was the creature Life D: haha
Overall great job :D
Amazing visuals and audio. I made it past the first elder god (though I think it might've been a fluke), but couldn't figure out the mechanics of the second one.
The graphics and music were very great, but I didn't fully understand the mechanics. I just keep clicking stab and clicking mind dive when I'm low on health, then I win. It would be better if the mechanics were a little easier to understand.
Graphics, audio, mood, absolutely terrific! But gameplay wise - I couldn't really understand what I was doing, the UI was unclear to me, I didn't really understand what my choices did and how they mattered, the whole experience was quite confusing unfortunatly
Excellent art and audio, it all connected and fit the game perfectly. I beat the second god and got the end music, nicely done. I still don't really know what stab/insult/curse do, I'm guessing they removed some of the god's actions like it was doing to me, but I'm not 100%. I think stab was the "you are more damaged now" option, not sure about curse/insult. If this came with a full story mode, I'd definitely pick it up on Steam.
you definitely did a great job with the atmosphere, the whole setting feels brilliant and amazing. unfortunately, i couldn't even get past the first god, mostly due to not really understanding what was going on - so i resigned myself to just looking at the art and clicking around for a little bit to enjoy the sounds (and imagine the animations :P) despite wanting to keep it more mysterious, i feel like at least some instruction (in the game) for players would go a long way!
Amazing art, sound and mood. But sadly too difficult to play. ):
I hope you can focus a bit more on the gameplay aspect in the future, but keep up the good job on the the art!
I had no idea what I was doing and if it was good or bad or if I was progressing... But damn was it graphically impressive and fun to look at! : D
Also where is my hug the eldritch monster option. > : o
Visually this game is masterfully done! Music and the atmosphere are also great, but I must agree with others in that gameplay is a bit confusing. There really isn't any feedback for the player and I get that it adds to the mystery but it perhaps was to the detriment of the game.
+1 on needs some kind of feedback, doesn't need to be "He seems to be on pain!" Maybe he enjoys being near death. Maybe some kind of system that gives you a small hint. There's a line between "I have a strategy and i think its working" and "I am pressing random buttons". My experience was not all random though, since I knew mind dive healed me and focus made the next attack stronger. But I did not know if I was healing the monster by stabbing, insulting, etc. Its a really cool idea with awesome graphics and audio. It could be an epic steam release. Extremely innovative!!
The presentation here is top notch! Fantastic visuals, and probably the best music and audio I have seen yet! Absolutely gorgeous! I kinda like the idea that the gameplay is a mystery where you learn how the mechanics work yourself, however I think the lack of information in some places, not all mechanics can be reasonably learned without outside help. random suggestion: Make the focus action have a visible effect on the UI/world the next turn, ie - make the buttons glow gold or something to show that they are powered up.
All in all, this is fantastic. :)
Fantastic job on the audio and visual front. As others were saying, I think a little more player feedback would be helpful. Not too much so you can maintain the amount of mystery you were trying to portray, but enough to more clearly communicate the effects of the choices I made. Some of that could have definitely came down to time. But overall, great job!
Loved the aesthetics. Loved the music. Loved your take on the theme.
Did not loved the overall gameplay. If you want some feedback, I did not fully understand what was goin on since the monster had no healtbar and the player attacks didn't show any damage number or similar feature. I guess you didn't manage to fit in this type of things because of the few timespan.
Overall, nice eldritch game.
The art and audio are great, they set the right mood. The gameplay itself is plain, the lack of any feedback makes the game a bit boring. Also, you've got my attention with the technical stuff. How did you manage to make the build size more than 5Gigs? From what I've seen in the game it's not very obvious. I think this is the technical issue on your side you should look into, as the build size can scare some potential players off.
@bereg The size was mostly for the animations, the animations were done in after effect and not with the unity animation rig because we didn't train with it
I loved the visuals, atmosphere, idea and music. But as everyone else said, the game is really confusing, I didn't have so much fun clicking random buttons. More feedbacks would help.
Also, is the video you use not compressed?
@gord10ahmet We used a png sequence, and the first one was 24 fps for 20 seconds so took a lot of space, messy for a first time using after effect but we will do better next time !
The art is really amazing, and the music and sound design are very good too! Like everyone else has said though, the gameplay is very unclear, which makes it hard to play. It is clear what Stab does because the name is obvious, and Mind Dive is clear because it has some visual feedback, but it would help if you offered some hints at what everything else does.
The visual look is amazing, the music sets an ambiance I love, and the animations really make this a beautiful game. But the lack of feedback made me quit. I feel like this could be awesome, and I understand what you're going for with the lack of feedback, and not wanting to give too much away, but there isn't any feedback at all. I don't know if I've done any damage, or if the creature has an effect on it. You can give some visual clues, like a green cast, or wounds, or something to let me know I've done something to the old god. With no feed back what so ever I feel like I'm basically stumbling around in an empty room with a blindfold and my hands tied behind my back.
great job on the visuals and atmosphere and sounds, but how to play was pretty confusing, and i ended up just killing myself when i thought i was killing cthulu. i clicked through the various options, but never felt like i got good feedback on what was effective until i saw the meter running low by alternating curse and insult. in the end, alternating those two was actually killing me rather than the boss.
The concept, the graphism and music are very good. I think this game is a true potential. But I agree with some comment. Zero feedback make the game frustrating. I tried meany combination without to know if it's interesting or not... At this end, I took random actions... and preyed that it's help defeating old god.
So my question is, how the player is supposes to find a strategy? Without informations except the visual of god and name of actions... it's hard.
Must we know the old gold lore to find a way to defeat them?
I think your concept of "lack of informations" is nice idea but it's need to be more mature.
For example, you could add a description of the monsters to give hints? Like escape game? Or add an information of the life monster?
Nevertheless, the game gives a very good feeling to play an epic scene. Good job :)
As far as I understood, we are talking about a video. Maybe you could export it to a format like mp4, which won't take as much as space like sequental png's?
Thanks for your game i had much fun:)
@gord10ahmet When I tried to render it with a video the quality was not that great and the file was pretty heavy around 3 Go+, the png sequence was the most light one around 200Mo for each monster
My favourite game from this jam! I love art style.
Hi there! 5:4 aspect ratio squad reporting here, just letting you know that the left and right sides of your UI are completely cut off on 1280x1024 and similar resolutions. Game is still playable, but just a heads up for next time!
