Hey, would love to check out your game, but when I launch the .exe on Windows I get some errors. They all go like this "The code execution cannot proceed because love.dll was not found", with different file names.

rhythm 2020-10-06 17:55

The game doesn't start and shows missing love.dll/lua51.dll/SLD2.dll files. Maybe you need to check the packaging again?

bongard22 2020-10-06 18:05

Having the same issue as these other two.lderror.png

sli 2020-10-06 18:06

Comment when you fix it, so that we can play.

blue-pin-studio 2020-10-06 18:11

Came to play the game, couldn't launch it.

dome 2020-10-06 18:27

This game will run if you download the zipped version of LÖVE here: https://love2d.org/ and paste it into the extracted folder.

pluisjen 2020-10-07 10:34

Oh no! I missed the part about needing to include the DLLs to make it work on other machines D:

I've uploaded a new version that is a zip with all the required libraries and should work without any extra work.

Thanks for the feedback and hope you'll still give it a try.

Hey nice job! I like the graphics and controls are nice! could you check out my game? :D

fabula-rasa 2020-10-07 22:40

This is very interesting. I liked the concept and died sooooo much on my first try :) (of cold mostly, but also of food poisoning). I did better latter, as I familiarized myself with the game. It is a nice experience, I enjoyed it. There are some neat ideas in the game and you really could keep working on it, if you wanted to.

Shame you cannot change what you want to make in a crafting hut/build on a tile after you ordered it, even if the project is not started. Would be nice if you could do that. Would also be nice if you could examine a project that is in progress (sometimes I found myself missing resources to complete a project but being unsure what those are ;)).

The graphics is obviously very basic and some sfx/music would add a lot to the experience. But you know that :).

I really think it's a great jam job and could be a beginning of a very cool resource management game.

Cool little game! The loop being a trip around the globe is an interesting take, but it is a bit hard to notice/realize if it wasn't for your description here.

Are you planning any post-jam updates? It feels like there's quite some depth to the mechanics, so I think it would be great to see this engine with some more UX polish.

re: "when everyone is dead there isn’t much left to do" -> gotta love these jam solutions :) But I think this one works rather naturally, just because your tribe is done, the globe will keep turning and your perishables will keep spoiling when noone is around. A fun loop-mechanic could be an other tribe moving into the abandoned camp site eventually if you don't quit the game :)

Wow, what a fantastic game! After a few attempts of dying I managed to get into my stride and I'm currently on turn 136 with 12 survivors, seemingly too big too fail now. I would love to see this be expanded further as the game concept is so much fun, with more stuff to do and a bigger late game, combined with a visual overhaul and sfx/music, I would buy this game without question. Really incredible effort, well done!

Nice concept (hard but playable)! I like the idea, and have to say is a very good interpretation of theme. I miss sfx, but in overall is a good entry and have potential. Please if you can play and hate our game. Tks.

hadik 2020-10-14 10:36

Game is fun, but not as good as I hope so. Partly match the theme, maybe next time it will be better..

One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will aperceite very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)

spitzy 2020-10-17 06:55

I really enjoyed the game! The concept is really good and I would love to see it as a full game.

I had a little trouble understanding the mechanics at first, but once I did I really enjoyed it! I think some improvements to the UI would make it a little easier to understand, such as making the scale of the winter bar clearer, showing the weight of each item on the travel screen, and adding the ability to hover over your people and see what status effects they have. Also, I noticed a bug where if you leave some people in a location before you travel, it will create clones of them that will persist in the location but won't travel with you. I'd like to see a full version with more distinct locations, and a greater variety of event/day types.

pluisjen 2020-10-19 08:39

@dans17 can you share reproduction steps for that bug? I have not encountered this myself and am not sure how to leave people behind.

Also thanks for all the feedback so far everyone :) I'm trying to put in some more time on this entry. If I get a more complete game out of it, I'll let you all know!

dans17 2020-10-20 00:41

The bug happens when you put people in one of the resource gathering areas (Forest/Quarry/etc.) and then travel before ending the turn. You still take everyone with you when you travel, but when you loop back around to the same location, there will still be clones of the people in the same resource gathering area that you put them. You can still use these clones to complete tasks, but they don't come with you when you travel again. Though it clearly wasn't intended, it was actually kind of nice to have a couple helping hands for a few turns. Maybe you could add a random event where you run into a friendly tribe and they give you some extra people for a turn?

emkani 2020-10-23 11:31

Great idea, I love the idea and I'm a fan of board games so some inspiration is clear to see. I wish there was a bit more usability but the game works.

sevenlevelgames 2020-10-25 10:58

I really liked the games concept .The graphics and sound effects are basic but for a 48 hour game its pretty good! Overall i really enjoyed while playing, Good Job !

theinkskeleton 2020-10-27 19:22

Unfortunately, the game opens up for me with a strange resolution, and I was unable to see most of the UI, so I couldn't play it. From the pictures, it looks like it could be fun! So if you'd like, sometime, you could look into that.
