I really liked the low frame-rate animation of the character, but being locked into the animation often made it feel like I wasn't really in control. Once I got used to releasing the spacebar to time my jumps (as opposed to pressing it), I had some fun flipping about. The music and graphics tied togther nicely for a nice, atmospheric feel.

@snailrhymer thanks for feedback!

gonzalol 2020-10-10 11:31

It has some good ideas for a classic platform game. The animations are cool but the controls are a little bit hard to use. Anyway, good job for a 72h jam!

blood-jackal23 2020-10-10 11:31

Things I liked about the game:

1. The theme and the art style were good and consistent 2. The tutorial explains the game mechanics well 3. The objective for each level was easy to spot

Things I disliked about the game:

1. The controls are not good at all 2. Although the music was a good fit to the theme, the constant looping was adding to my frustration

Overall, a good game but it needs more polish. Keep up the good work

sanojian 2020-10-10 11:32

It is a beautiful looking game, but it is very hard to control. I had to give up on the fourth level because my character would go flipping around and I felt I had very little control. If you tighten up the jumping controls, this could be a great game.

enad96 2020-10-10 11:32

Great art, and music. The controls were a little hard to get used to but was fun after the tutorial. I would like to see a longer version after the jam!

nsadie 2020-10-10 11:34

I struggled with the controls quite a bit, it felt inaccurate. Otherwise nice looking art and some good atmosphere!

kr4ft3r 2020-10-10 12:09

I love how its done in Japanese classical art style, and the girl is lovely. Seems you went for the original Prince of Persia feel, which is not an easy thing to do. However I spent 10 minutes trying to pass first screen with movable platform, and failing miserably every time. Textual tip didn't help. Any tips? I really want to see other screens of this game.

@gonzalol Thank you for feedback!

@blood-jackal23 @sanojian I agree controls need more work, thank you!

@enad96 Definitely we will release post-LD imrpoved version! Thanks!

@nsadie Thank you!

capt-theo 2020-10-10 13:31

@kr4ft3r Here's the tip - when you jump, character lands on her hand. In that moment, you can alter her jump so she goes higher or lower. You may need to step back to give her more space to jump.

wabble 2020-10-11 22:58

Interesting jump mechanic although it needs a bit of work.

Artstyle was ok, ang gameplay short although enjoyable

capt-theo 2020-10-11 23:16

@wabble thanks for feedback! We started working on post-LD version so it will have more levels

melhem-fares 2020-10-11 23:28

The traditional Japanese art style is really nice. The controls were a bit unclear in the instructions and somewhat difficult to use though. The game was also really, really short :( I wish there was more. Overall though, it's got plenty of potential and I would love to see how the story ends. Good luck with the post-LD version.

capt-theo 2020-10-11 23:36

@melhem-fares thank you! Controls definitely will be improved

food-lovers 2020-10-12 16:23

Intresting game, but controls not so comfortable, and that makes gameplay not so great. I like idea of jumping, but, in my opinion, for jam topic it would better to make all movement by looping. I like music and art. I've hoped game would be longer, I wish to see what you'll do next. Great job)

capt-theo 2020-10-12 17:05

@food-lovers Thank you for feedback. Now I see that idea of character "stuck in the loop" of jumping took too far. :)

andre-sadie 2020-10-12 20:07

I like the style animation but I almost gave up on the jumping mechanics. Eventually got used to it though.

dans17 2020-10-13 03:47

I liked the art and your interpretation of the theme, and once I was able to get a hang of the mechanics I could see what you were going for with the controls. One thing I thing would improve the game is allowing the player to chain jumps more than just once and allowing them to change direction each jump. This way, you could make it so the player has to time their jumps to go through the entire level "stuck in a loop" while chain jumping.

kaafirookie 2020-10-13 10:50

The game has a learning curve and I love it! I can see how people can get confused, but once I understood it (didn't take me long) The game became too easy and fun! I love the animations, reminds me of old computer platformers like POP. This could be a good maneuver based game with few improvements and more levels

asfdfdfd 2020-10-13 20:09

Stuck almost at the beginning of the game. Love music and visual style.

island-jam-2-group-3 2020-10-13 21:21

So this is how it feels when the game is good but too short, ouch! (just kidding for my own game being too short too).

I agree with what someone already pointed out: that chaining jump would have added more to meet the LD theme, and that controls could be more polished. Other than that, I liked the style and I really wanted to have more screens before finishing, so good job!

capt-theo 2020-10-13 22:00

@andre-sadie thanks for feedback! I feel you, I'm playing other's games and sometimes want to flip table

@dans17 thanks you, Initial idea was something along the lines, but I didnt managed to stuff several paths into screen to make it work - may be in post-LD version when I have time!

@kaafirookie thank you, yes it is inspired by many old games, not PoP in particular.

@asfdfdfd I feel sorry for you, was it at fallen vase? I had some stucks in development but tried to eliminate most of them

@island-jam-2-group-3 Thank you! I was planning for more screens, there are even trampolines in code, but unfortunately ran out of time.

danielcmcg 2020-10-14 15:38

I liked a lot the animations and the idea of combining keys to perform different jumps, great mechanic that fit well with the game visuals. I only had a hard time trying to jump to the higher platforms, usually getting stuck randomly trying different distances and hoping that the second jump would reach the spot without success.

junior23419 2020-10-17 08:53

I like the art style of the game. The gameplay was too short, I really expected a longer level. The control is kinda questionable. It's not obvious how the W/S buttons work.

harmadillo 2020-10-17 12:41

I enjoyed the game. Nice graphics/art style. The jump mechanic was interesting but felt a little loose/imprecise. I'm not sure if this was the jump itself or the game needed more size/levels to get familiar with the using the jump.

guimoliveira 2020-10-23 02:10

Nice game. I liked the graphics. The controls aren't very responsive. Good job! :)

imod 2020-10-26 18:50

Very nice game. Physics is little strange, but overall it looks cool!
