LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Stuck In Paris by CocaPasteque 2020-10-06T03:21:48Z

Simple gameplay, controls feel nice, clean graphics, and plenty of explosions. I love it!

Bust-a-Loop by PeachTreeOath 2020-10-09T03:23:54Z

This game is quite addicting. It makes me want to try and try again until I can get it right. It's challenging but it's really rewarding when you win. Add some audio and maybe some particle effects and I think this game would be even more great.

Lethal Loop by Chaosinism 2020-10-11T00:12:56Z

The idea is really unique and goes great with the theme. It's like a puzzle and an action game at the same time which is cool. The audio is a little rough on the ears though. Would also be nice if there was more than one map. Another suggestion I would add is to add a tiny cooldown when drawing cards because I found that spamming worked since I would almost get infinite shield. (EDIT: Reading the comments and it seems like someone has already mentioned this). Overall though, it's a solid game. Well done!

The Magic Steak by chispaLBC 2020-10-06T03:33:39Z

The graphics are really nice. The audio suits the cute and silly feel of the game. The game was pretty easy to be honest. I wasn't really paying attention to obstacles, just holding jump and bouncing around. It was still fun to play and it grabbed my attention for a while. Well done!

Xenolasso by Carraka 2020-10-12T00:04:00Z

The game felt a little tedious, especially because most of it was spent navigating the map with a painfully slow walking speed. An instant recall back to base would be nice. On a positive note, the idea is quite innovative and the game as a whole has plenty of potential. The art is really neat and gives off somewhere between NES and SNES vibes. Also, the sound effects done by mouth killed me lmao. Overall, well done!

Rogot Slide [Prototype] by itsdanidre 2020-10-10T23:58:04Z

The gameplay mechanic is unique and interesting. I'm not really a fan of these kinds of puzzle games, but for what it's worth it's a well-built game. Good job!

Cercle funeste by LoicLeGrosFrere 2020-10-10T23:29:46Z

I'm usually not a fan of puzzle games but this one was really interesting. Once I figured out the mechanic I really felt my brain working. The story compelled me to keep on going until the end. The game also really fits well with the theme. The choice of background music and sound effects were also great. There are a few tweaks I would suggest though. I noticed a few spelling and grammar mistakes. Also, a main menu with instructions would be nice. Overall though, a solid 4.5 stars from me. Excellent work!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-06T20:29:56Z

It took me a while to figure out what to do but once I got the hang of it I loved it. The game is totally original, it fits the theme perfectly, the music in the background is really chill, there is plenty of humour, and the mood is a great mix of calm and exciting. I will probably find myself playing this game often. I think this deserves a perfect 5 star rating! Excellent game!! (I was not bribed by the way)

@ryuk47 It is you. You are the game designer. The workers you hire help build the game, but you design the ideas.

The Game Designer Cycle by melhem_fares 2020-10-07T15:56:59Z

@etrealjunior Thank you! I'll play your game after I'm done my homework.

@doc-moustache Thank you!

@carraka Yea that's a 1/10 chance lol. Also thanks for the suggestion. I was planning to add achievements/milestones later on so at least there's goals to strive for.

@donamougou Many thanks! I really like to keep things simple.

@pulni Thanks for the idea. I was thinking of what you said, but I didn't know how to do it unfortunately. I'm still kind of a beginner. I would love to learn more so I can implement that in the future.

The Game Designer Cycle by melhem_fares 2020-10-11T17:40:42Z

@blue-pin-studio I agree. There's nothing to work for. I was planning to add some achievements or story in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

The Game Designer Cycle by melhem_fares 2020-10-11T22:14:15Z

@misterm Thank you! I understand the preference, we all have our types. I'm not really a fan of puzzle games myself.

The Game Designer Cycle by melhem_fares 2020-10-27T16:26:59Z

@itsdanidre Funny you say that because I originally used Bosca Ceoil to make the track but then remixed it in LMMS. I guess that's where it gets its Bosca Ceoil vibe.

ReReReSpawn by Arttu Halonen 2020-10-11T18:01:05Z

This game has lots of potential. I think more levels and maybe even upgrades would make this game really neat. The level design and movement was good for juking out the enemies. The graphics are basic but cool. The idea is pretty innovative.

Here's a bug I found though: bug.png

The enemies didn't want to go inside this box.

Froot Loops Delivery Job by InefficientChunkOfCode 2020-10-06T19:59:27Z

I really had fun playing this game. The graphics are really cute. The sound effects are really nice. One thing I would suggest is to have a slider for music volume. I was jamming to the music but it was too loud for me.

HamsterLoop by Misterm 2020-10-11T18:26:05Z

Everything goes well together. It's got a fair level of difficulty. The graphics and calming audio synergize really nicely to create a calming mood. The controls feel really nice. The idea of having a hamster "stuck in a loop" is really clever and cute for the theme. In my opinion though, the life system is pretty old-school. I think it would be better if you ditch the life system altogether. Overall though, excellent game!

TimeHop by Isha 2020-10-11T22:11:10Z

Wow, I totally envy your game! This is 10x better than my idle/incremental game. I can't imagine the programming that has gone into this. I played the entire thing, that's how hooked I was. All it's really lacking is art but perhaps you're not an artist or didn't have the time. Nonetheless, as an incremental game, this is insane for 48 hours. Excellent work!

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-09T02:20:35Z

Graphics and GUI are spot on. I love the art style. The gameplay itself is simple but can get a little boring afterwards since it's basically just a Simon memory game. Nonetheless, the game feels really polished and has a really cool main character. It reminds me of old flash games from 10 years ago that I would play on Miniclip.

Stuck in a.....Loop? by NuclearNate 2020-10-06T22:12:10Z

It was a hassle to open but I had to give it a shot since this is your first game jam and it would be nice if you got some feedback. I wish there was audio but I guess you ran out of time. Your game was very, very short and easy and the wizard's dialogue was really tiny. The game followed the theme and it functioned like a proper platformer which was good. What really matters is that you finished and that you have fun. I wish you luck with your next games. Good effort for your first gam jam.

Ayumi's Day by Capt.Theo 2020-10-11T23:28:49Z

The traditional Japanese art style is really nice. The controls were a bit unclear in the instructions and somewhat difficult to use though. The game was also really, really short :( I wish there was more. Overall though, it's got plenty of potential and I would love to see how the story ends. Good luck with the post-LD version.

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-08T02:35:17Z

It was a bit short but the story and aesthetics were quite nice. I like how you used the circle of life to represent the theme. An issue with the game though is that you can beat the first level without moving. I suggest randomizing the bird's position or maybe even make some of them fly diagonally. Overall though, it was a nice and unique experience. Good job!

Spoonful by Ryuk47 2020-10-06T00:35:34Z

Literally stuck inside a loop. I love the idea. It's so ridiculous that it's good. Graphics are really clean. Felt a bit tedious towards the end but nonetheless a really funny idea.

Collateral Damage by Michael Parrish 2020-10-06T20:53:46Z

The aesthetics are clean, the game fits the theme pretty well, and the gameplay is simple. However, I found this game somewhat difficult. It would be nice if there was like a dotted guideline showing you where you're aiming or maybe make the enemies move slower at the start and speed up later. Overall though, the game is still pretty good!

Loop Runner by Sindor 2020-10-05T21:41:40Z

I've played something like this before, but the text-based style made this unique. Overall, the puzzles are fun and fairly challenging. I also like how the title of each level gives you a clue. Well done!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Lost Treasure of the Bloody Pufferfishes by Teanan 2021-04-30T14:56:46Z

The music was calming and also set the atmosphere well, especially because of the transitions when you get deeper. The controls feel a bit stiff, especially the jump, but maybe that's just me. Also, I didn't feel there was much of an incentive to explore the sides, I just wanted to keep digging. Maybe some power-ups like an extra life would've been nice too. Overall though, really nice and simple game.

Buried in the Past by Ironfred 2021-04-30T15:11:14Z

The story was humorous but also carried a nice message to look back in life. I really enjoyed that. The animations were choppy but I get that not everyone's an artist (I'm definitely not). I really liked the dialogue too, I thought that was a solid feature in the game. There was one bully that got stuck in a box and was twitching left and right. Overall though, funny and creative. Nicely done.

Deep Dive to the wormhole by Retro Banana Man NL 2021-04-30T15:20:18Z

Firstly, I can tell you were trying to make a Motherload clone (or maybe it's just a coincidence). I was thinking to do the same to be honest because I loved that game. It would be nice if there was a visual cue to show that you sold your ores, because at first I thought the shop didn't work. I get that making clones is an easy and fun way to practice game developing, I have done it too. Overall, a solid first entry, keep it up.
