LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Mission to Io by DeathBySnail 2018-12-03T13:42:26Z

I absolutely loved the atmosphere, really nice sound design, good writing, also good text render speed. I find most of text games too slow and this was just fine, clicked to make it faster just a couple of times.

I don't really see the theme in the game though. I did not have to sacrifice anything, grabbed scalpel from the body in medbay, went to the bridge, unlocked navigation, activated the distress beacon and changed destination to Mars. Then I waited in the shaft and kill the thing, that came up.

However I actually saved the game to my bookmarks and will give it another go later as I have too much questions about what happened and I'm sure the theme is in there somewhere. Will change my theme rating if that's the case.

Overall, great job! I had fun playing this one. :)

Nice little game, I like the way you handled the theme and even though I'm not really into platform games I did have fun. :)

The graphic tiles were glitching for me sometimes, there were visible lines between them (I played in the browser) and I died like 10 times while jumping, because the platforms pushed me back (or it seemed that way).

Also I would change the snowman "consumption" so that I would not eat it with full HP (snow).

Overall really great game in 48 hours, good job!

@tomdeal Yes, platformer movement was really hard for me as well in all my platformer tries. :D

I absolutely loved this game! What a great idea!

It is pretty hard to control and my keyboard could not handle that many keys pressed at once, however I do have a controller, so it was not a problem in the end (thank you for including that option).

The one thing that I think needs more polishing are the wall collisions. I would like to have ability to slide across the walls, it's really hard to coordinate the movements as it's now, so this could probably help a bit.

Overall really nice, I had loads of fun, congratulations on finishing!

Astronaut's Journey by Radical Dog 2018-12-21T10:41:21Z

I always loved flash games, when you had to reach something and couldn't until you upgraded your thing. This brings back memories and it's awesome!

I think having some sounds in the game would make it that bit better, but I see you said you'll include them after the jam, looking forward to it. Also I think having an altitude display on the screen and a highest altitude reached info would be cool, my only measurement was the orange sky, than the space.

P.S. I had a nice wtf/laugh moment when I first crashed into the moon, great idea!

Dungeon Clicker Crowler by HowlingShame 2018-12-03T19:38:09Z

I liked it, needed a moment to understand the mechanics, but I was able to make it to level 5 or so. Nice little game. I think you should make the music play by default though, since you already have the sounds on by default.

Nice game even though it's pretty hard and I have no idea if you can win it.

I felt that every time I managed to find what I wanted to sacrifice the timer just ran out, so I would give the player more time. I find that good idea is to start easy and make it harder with time, it is hard to actually find the right amounts though.

One other point I wanted to make is that I would use different font for the texts. I loved the looks of the game, but the font actually substracted from the mood for me, it just did not fit.

Also took a bit of time to notice what I should click, I first tried to click all the little guys that fit the description and only after dying horribly 2 times I actually found out what to do, I would include this little info in the tutorial.

Overall, really cool game! Congratulations for making it to the finish line!

Brace For Impact by Keksa 2018-12-03T21:20:56Z

Hey @tomdeal, you actually won, you have to travel the distance displayed in the top left corner before the time runs out. If you toss an engine you're actually flying slower.

Hey @owlycode, the point I was trying to do was to actually make it easy to avoid damage to other engine, but if you toss it away, it will make you slower and you might not make in time.

Thank you all for comments!

Death Metal Crowd Pusher by WizardOfOzzy 2018-12-15T16:23:48Z

Cool game, but super easy when you just spam the dive button, I was able to get 11750 score by just spamming. However, the feel of the game is awesome, the graphics and audio really great and sacrificing fans to raise the Lord of Metal is great idea. Overall really nice game.

P.S.: Just an idea I had, I think that the difficulty would be easily solved by decreasing score when you toss a metalhead. Maybe would get you to think more about it.

Lost In Space by Sargonius 2018-12-04T19:30:38Z

Took me a while to figure it out, but finally I managed to save 5 out of 10 cubes. Nice game and nice connection to the theme. Also the music was really cool, even though really simple it fit the game perfectly. Great job!

I did not manage to make it past the finish line, but had fun trying. Good job!
