LD39 — Running out of Power

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-01T01:31:51Z

I really like it! I'm only concerned as around 4600km I ran out of power but it didn't game over or anything.. you might have a missing fail condition in there... I got to 5100km before I decided to end it by crashing into an asteroid. Still.. I really liked the narration you did! It was pretty funny... Could you tell me what the character says backwards when you get a clock powerup? It's probably something like "Rewinding time" but I was too lazy to try and figure it out myself. :P

Cryozia by Flipsy 2017-08-01T01:42:09Z

I would like to play, but, unfortunately, the in-browser flash version crashes on start. (I see a large, colorful logo for a split second before I get the "Flash Player has crashed." notice.) I'm running on Linux using Firefox 54. Downloading the SWF and playing locally via a Flash Player I have also causes the failure (but that's probably because it's using the same plugin to run flash as Firefox.)

Winding Woods by tybantarnusa 2017-08-05T04:11:17Z

I liked it! It was fun to move around in and eventually I realized how the rearrange mechanic was triggered so I was prepared for it. (Those landmark objects. :P ) Only thing I want to say is that it was really, REALLY tedious to interact with things.. picking up the power cord or charging banks and interacting with the charging stations required I be oriented a very specific way for the dialog to pop up.. I'm not sure why it was that way.. but.. yea.. it happened... and it made it rather difficult to play without being twitchy a lot and trying to find how to stand in order to get the option to pop up. (I should note I was using the Linux build.)

Power Plant Manager by Josh6680 2017-08-05T03:16:39Z

I was disappointed at first that I wouldn't be able to play this nor request a Linux version.. but then I realized it was programmed using the dot Net framework and I wanted to see if maybe I could compile it using mono... Well.. It seems you left something called "JGL" out of your source submission.. that or I'm not putting something in the right place as you have two source submissions....

REAMS by CameronPenner 2017-08-01T02:30:23Z

Any chance on Mac or Linux versions? It looks interesting, and I'd like to play.

REAMS by CameronPenner 2017-08-02T05:00:23Z

I can confirm what @rijnswand is saying. Honestly, it looks like there's some kind of missing asset issue...

... After several hours of messing around I can't really tell what the problem is.. (And by messing around I mean decompiling your source... I just leveled up in Assembly-CSharp.dll voodoo... :P ) There are objects in the scene despite non of them being visible...

... I couldn't quit.. just spent another half hour working on it.. and I hacked in a no-clip... it's just your meshes for your walls and floors.. Lights are still visible, but nothing is there. I happened to notice when in the beginning I looked up and saw lights retreating from me so I hacked out the gravity.. and could immediately hear the little spiel the narrator gives you about what's going on...

So.. the problem is.. for whatever reason the geometry in your scene isn't loading. There's no floor.. and therefore... your player controller falls into oblivion when the game launches.

...

I hope my obsession with wanting to play this game fixes your bugs.. XD

REAMS by CameronPenner 2017-08-05T02:51:50Z

@pickens-inc I can run the game with both versions (the x86 and the x86_64). In either case, the physical geometry of the world is missing. It really looks like some asset files are missing or something. I dunno what else to try as I've tried all I can. :P

A Night at Grandpa's by Kingethaniel 2017-08-01T01:16:34Z

It looks interesting, but sadly I can't play it as there is no linux version.

Power Hamstro: A Hamster Point and Click Adventure by defectivemelon 2017-08-01T02:12:39Z

It looks.. interesting.. but yea.. Not much to do there unless there's something hidden I didn't find. :P

Robot Run by jake 2017-08-01T02:15:59Z

Any chances for a Mac and Linux version? It's not a compo game so I can't look at the source to see if something like that would be feasible. :P

LD39:Running out of energy by johnnwfs 2017-08-05T03:34:43Z

Like others have stated.. the movements seems a bit strange and it's really hard to get anything if going down.. and left or right is sheer luck. Still.. it was interesting to play and the enemy losing energy and having to respawn was a nice touch.

Airship Engineer by ryte2byte 2017-08-05T03:12:25Z

I had fun! Like other entries with similar sound effects.. I greatly enjoyed yours. :P I got quite a chuckle out of it the first time I heard the "warning alarm" one. :P

Nex Machinan by MestreRothLD 2017-08-05T02:56:30Z

This looks interesting! I notice you built the game in Unity.. I don't know how you're doing your global leaderboards... they might prevent it, but do you think you could try exporting to Mac and Linux?

Power Crystals by chispaLBC 2017-08-05T03:54:39Z

Neat looking game.. but I can't play it! It seems you built it in Unity and on Itch you even say this game is for "Windows, Mac, and Linux" but only the Windows build is in the files! Any chance you'll update the release to add in Mac and Linux?

Ready, HANDHELD! by emanvidmaker 2017-08-01T01:36:17Z

I notice you made your game in Unity. It would be nice if you could export a Mac and Linux build so that those of us without Windows could play too!

Ready, HANDHELD! by emanvidmaker 2017-08-02T02:28:53Z

Interesting concept.. I like it.. but like others said, that delay in the jump button is really bad. I found the game really hard to play because of it as it made timing jumps really, really difficult.

Low Battery by Battle Buddy 2017-08-05T03:52:50Z

I downloaded your game wondering what it was built with.. and noticed it was built in Java! Using lwjgl! So.. I was a little confused that you linked to the source as a "Windows" build.. and then shipped all the binaries for other OSes with it.. Still.. I thought I'd give it a shot..

Unfortunately, even after getting the libraries on the path, it crashes on launch complaining it can't find a method in the OpenAL library.. something to do with "getintegerv".. So I still can't play it. :(

ElectriClick by Cornelia Xaos 2017-08-01T02:19:39Z

@besslaaneshi Yea.. I ran out of time balancing it. I was trying to do so right up until the deadline and then I just decided to buff everything slightly so you could at least make it to year 200. Money is practically pointless as you get so much so fast it and everything costs so little in comparison. (I was primarily focused on making sure energy supply / demand was somewhat "balanced".) You should be able to last around 225 years if you click CONSTANTLY. :P

ElectriClick by Cornelia Xaos 2017-08-02T05:03:49Z

@wizard-exe When I first formulated the idea my mind ran wild with possibilities.. but most of them had to be culled to make it doable in 48 hours.. I had plans for things you could purchase to help curb consumer electricity demand.. or even having an actual map in the scroll area and you'd have to build water wheels at actual sites of water and hook power up to cities. There was a lot that can be done.. there just wasn't enough time in that short weekend to hit all the really cool things.. so I went for the basics and just tried to make that work. :P

BioTechnoWorld by Dioinecail 2017-08-05T03:30:25Z

Interesting... I downloaded your source and built a version for Linux since I figured it'd be faster than asking you to make a build. :P I did notice what appeared to be batteries, but I couldn't pick any up.. so my energy kept running out really quickly... because.. SO MANY ENEMIES.. AND BULLETS.... EVERYWHERE... OMG...

The best part of it all, though? That intro... Truly magnificent. :P

Midnight Manor by GeraldFIngBurke 2017-08-01T02:29:17Z

I liked it! I dunno if you meant for the player to get the "Oh god, no.." screen a lot and simply remember what they had found before.. which is what I ended up doing as it felt like the generator's timer was just a little too short to do any sleuthing. Still, it was a nice little "Escape the Room" experience.

Dynasty Through The Decades by Jamie McClenaghan 2017-08-01T02:14:55Z

It looks interesting, but I wonder if you happen to be able to build for other OSes so that someone with a Mac or a Linux machine (like me) could be able to give it a shot.

From Kingdom to Freedom by Studio RTV 2017-08-05T03:17:51Z

Hey! It looks like you built your game using Unity and provided a Mac build in addition to your Windows build.. but you forgot about Linux! Any chance you could upload a Linux build as well? Would be nice if I could give playing it a shot. :)

Power Puzzle - My first LD game. by ConfidentGames 2017-08-01T02:07:37Z

Unfortunately, I can't play as you only have a Windows build and I'm running Linux. It looks intriguing, though.. especially given @defectivemelon 's comment.

15 Minutes by TJ Reynolds 2017-08-05T03:45:29Z

Alrighty.. I figured out what was wrong with it.. For some reason.. you can type an infinite number of "SPACE" into the question box.. so I thought it was broken.. but.. I completed it.. Not sure if I entered the correct answer at times, but it advanced and at the end it said I won, so... Yea.. Nice to see a Java game on here. :)

Solaris - Dying Sun by AlteredGalaxy 2017-08-01T02:42:05Z

So.. first things first, you seemed to have messed up your Linux export slightly. The folder names for the Solaris_Data are wrong. The one that is called "Solaris.x86_64_Data" is actually the x86 data. I had to delete the other folder "Solaris_Data" as it was the x86_64 version and there was no x86_64 executable. Then I renamed the first folder to just "Solaris_Data" and I could run the game!

As to the game, I really liked the planet rotating idea. It seemed very interesting and fun to do.. though I didn't find much of a reason to rotate as I could place things down on top of each other.. When I realized this I started spamming solar panels in one spot and a few defense guns to keep the aliens at bay. It was rather easy at that point.

But, I still liked the rotating planet mechanic and found it really innovative.

Selfie Or Die by Lazy Goblins 2017-08-01T02:32:36Z

I just want to point out your link is to the game, but you have it tagged as "Source Code". Also, do you think you can put up some Mac or Linux builds? Or even an HTML5 build if possible (I've seen a few of those). Some people don't have Windows. :)

Defender of the Energy! by BesSlaaneshi 2017-08-01T01:34:12Z

Yea.. Echoing @shaolin-dave .. I dunno if a WebGL build would work on Linux machines or not, but it would be nice to have builds for other OSes. Provided you're not using any external libraries in your game simply building for the others via standalone should work just fine.

Defender of the Energy! by BesSlaaneshi 2017-08-02T02:22:27Z

Wow.. I am REALLY glad you built for Linux, @besslaaneshi .. It is a LOT of fun! I made it to 2:41 before they swarmed me and I lost. I really liked the mechanic that the enemies could use the energy as well. It was a nice balance.. and opened up for interesting strategies of luring the enemies to one spot where there was an energy orb sitting around. All in all, an awesome game!

Polarized by Dylan Mahalingam 2017-08-01T02:06:07Z

As others have said, we can't really seem the theme if you tried to connect it to one in any way.. but.. It was really fun to play! Very enjoyable puzzles and an interesting mechanic. I found on of the middle levels to be harder than most of the others, slightly more so than the last (as I had to think about it much longer before I realized what I was doing). The last level, though, was really fun to play. :)

Blackout: Security Breach by The-iron 2017-08-01T02:31:10Z

Any chance for a Mac or Linux version? I only have Linux and I'd be interested in playing your game.

Balance by dawdreyor 2017-08-05T02:54:47Z

It looks interesting.. am I to understand that it's a two player game? So you couldn't play by yourself? I'm asking as I can't play right now anyways, because I don't see a Linux build! I took a peek at one of the downloads and it seems it was made in Unity.. so maybe try exporting a Linux build as well? :D
