Really complete shooter. The control mechanics were neat(Don't know if you made them or it's a standard library).Fast pace and entertaining game. With replayability and runs smoothly. I guess you didn't have time but some music would be appreciated. Congrats!

@gris Thank you! I made it from "scratch" with LibGdx and Java, so the controls are in fact made by me :) Sound in general is my weakness and something that I need to work on. I did actually make some music but it turned out not so great so I decided that no music is better than annoying music.

The graphics are definitely very nicely rounded and well done. The movement and shooting works just fine and doesn't get in the way. The jump seems a bit too strong though, so I hardly ended up using it. As for the heavy and weak attacks, I don't know if there was much point to having the two, as there's no incentive to just damage an enemy rather than killing them completely, and there were no different enemy classes, so the heavy attack seems like the only way to go.

Best game I have seen yet! The slow down, the graphics, the sprite animation. VERY GOOD JOB!!

Definitely one of the most visually appealing games I've tried, the visual polish is a step above most games. Solid shooter game that seems fully realized. Tough but I thought the balance was actually pretty fair. Wish there was a bg track but overall really fun.

The graph is and controls are nice. But the lack of audio kind of brings down the experience. But nevertheless, the game play and the visuals are great. Good work 👍

To say that the graphics are good would be the understatement of the year. This is the best looking game out of everything I've played so far. It looks like it has been pixeled by someone who's been doing that for a pretty long time. Surprised this is a compo entry.
The SFX may be from bxfr, but they fit very nicely. It's unfortunate there is no music. Would've really pushed this to a new level.
The gameplay is simple, but very fun because of the great graphics and smooth animations. Shooting feels amazing and your hits have so much impact. I love it. You didn't hit the theme with the most originality, but it's in there, so I won't complain.
I really had a lot of fun with this and it just goes to show how a nice presentation can make a huge difference - even for game jams. Really awesome work.
I love the main character's animation and the time stopping power felt badass. But the movement is a bit too "floaty". Sometimes a zombie would just bump me right off the level or juggle me around with another zombie.
After 6-7 tries, finally bit this game! (but seems didn't really save the city? haha) The difficulties is just right! you need to be good to use the "E" and "S". It takes me lots of death to get good at it! Really want to play some more stage but it's a compo game so that is enough! Great Job!
Nice graphics :D

@shinmera Thank you for the feedback! The heavy attack uses more energy and is slower, but I see what you mean. It would probably bee better if you had to charge up the stronger shot, and then be able to shoot the weaker ones by just holding down the fire button like a machine gun.
@brent Thank you!!! Glad you liked it :D
@thorneto @nikrt Thank you! Generally I feel like I don't want to put too much time into working on the sound since it isn't my area of expertise and there is only so much you can do in 48 hours. So I make do with effects generated with bfxr, which I think turned out decent. I still think it's important with good sound and to make music is something I'm definitely planning to learn for the next one!
@zelos Thank you! Means a lot! I really liked your last LD38 game!
@pedrowzee The zombies are enthusiastic volleyball players and sometimes they get a little carried away. Sorry about that.
@goldranger Awesome that you managed to beat it! Great job! xD The ending is kind of stupid. I actually really wanted to do a boss battle at the end, but I didn't have time to do it. Might still add one in a post jam update tough.
@pixelproductions @egor-iv Thank you!

So frenetic game, I liked it. It's so good for being programmed without and engine. All the game parts feel consistent, so good job on these.
GOOD ENTRY :)
This was an awesome platform shooter. The pixel art is amazing and yes I agree that no music is better than annoying music . I died a lot but that was because I was enjoying the art instead of playing the game haha! Very well done and it definitely shows the power of Java. Well done!

Art is really great, with a nice dose of juiciness ^^ I would say that the concept and the level design are a little too simplistic, making it quit repetitive really fast.
A little to hard as the spawning rate is too fast and it is too hard to kill zombies, but that may just be me talking after trying for a long time to complete the game. Really well made.
Very solid entry! I liked the graphics quite a bit. It's nice to see some pixel art that doesn't fit the usual 8-bit or GameBoy aesthetic most go for. The sounds were servicable but some music would have done a lot for the mood. That said for a compo entry the lack of it is understandable. The mechanics weren't very original but they worked just fine and it was pretty fun shooting zombies. I will say the player moves a little too fast and the zombies spawn a little to close to him so I ended up running into them quite a bit. That said, good work!

Nice game. Art and mechanics are good. I agree and like that you programmed this yourself without an engine. Excellent job.
I like the game and the pixel art graphics, well done!!
Super solid entry! Great graphics and particle effects.

Really well done game, lots of polish, good sound effects and game play. The only issue I had was when the mouse ends up outside the game window, it loses focus and you end up bringing other windows to the front. If there was a way to trap the mouse pointer while the game was in play that would be perfect. Very good entry. Professional feel. Thanks for the game.
So perfect details for LD! Graphics, effects. But gamedesign, gameplay - need add something for "full game" =)
I completed the game. Great game for a quick one time blast. Awesome gfx, solid gameplay, too polished for an LD comopo entry. Just the game doesnot go with the theme IMHO. P.S. : Clonned your repo, wanted to see how you made it

This game is hard! Luckily it's fun too, so I'll give it a go later. It looks amazing! Hard to believe it was made in 48 hours. The sounds are effective and the gameplay is good enough for a quick go.
You worked hard, good job!

**Overall game impression:** Sound effects fit the game perfectly, gameplay is pretty fun and very smooth. No bugs were encountered. It was very interesting and gets pretty challenging after awhile. It's really simple but fun. Enjoyed it.
**Suggestions and comments on improvement:** More enemy varieties would add a nice touch imho. Nothing besides that.

Fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_RV8hzvGH4

Funny game, but was so hard to protect the two generators in the same time. Good work on the graphics, the audio also was cool. You worked well on this game !
The graphics and particle effects were well done. I'm probably going to state the obvious, but some music would have really helped the game. The mouse-aim shooting felt a little awkward. I would have rather had eight-way shooting. Some additional types of enemies and gun upgrades would have really helped. Maybe also add different level layouts so that you move to another level after surviving a certain number of enemies in a wave.

Simple gameplay, but the controls are pretty neat and there's a lot of polish! The game is super hard, to the point it feels a bit unbalanced, but gameplay itself is pretty solid with the small and big shot, gun recharge and powerups. Overall, great work! I wish it had some music, though~
