An absolutely chaotic game. Trying to keep track of everything is a good challenge as well as trying to manage everyones needs. Pretty good game overall but takes a bit of getting used to

zakolnuki 2021-04-26 12:39

Great game! A bit complex at first but gets easier with time. Only real comment I can think of is the stat bars are a little hard to read sometimes with the flashing, especially when the bar is empty so you cant see it flash.

kunonooni 2021-04-27 04:38

At first I was confused as to what I needed to do. I stuck with it because the game looked like a lot of fun and I was right, this is a fantastic game! I did poorly at it as all but one of my researchers died. but I was like "this is fine".... and then the drill broke! Well done!

God I really suck at these games but this is really really polished and the mechanics seem all pretty well-balanced. I tried finding abusive strategies to speedrun the game but I couldn't find anything. It's rare IMO to see this sort of thing done right but you've managed it, really really nice work.

My only comment is same as @zakolnuki, it's a bit mentally taxing to read the stats. Otherwise this is a ridiculously polished and complete game for 48 hours, I'm sort of blown away.

doommustard 2021-04-27 05:53

This game is so addicting, and my biggest complaint is that I spent more time than I wanted to on it.

jeremia 2021-04-27 09:55

Alex, Jonathan and Cassandra have way too similar Colors. It would have helped, if it would display the names of the Person, when you hover over or grab the Person.

foot-jam 2021-04-28 01:51

Really enjoyed trying to beat it, a lot of depth for a compo game(pun intended)

dhim 2021-04-28 09:34

Is there a possibility to have a web or mac version to test it ?

flatgub 2021-04-28 10:24

@dhim Unfortunately I can only produce windows builds, although I believe on mac it should run just fine using Wine?

corruptor2037 2021-04-28 10:59

Oooh, it's too hard to watch for everything Also it was very hard to understand how to turn on electricity on room

patomkin 2021-04-28 11:41

Diving **deeper and deeper** into research staff micromanagement :D

Impressively solid for an 48-hour entry, good job!

goutye 2021-04-28 12:00

A lot of depth and things going on! But easily able to take them one by one without being overwhelm too quickly. You went really deep in making this game :v: I had a lot of fun trying to keep my crew alive as much as possible while going deeper! But forgot one and he died :x: Congratulations !

I couldn't play the game properly, the collision of the mouse seems to be offset. I need to aim the mouse lower of the objects in order to hit them.

flatgub 2021-04-28 15:59

@xmatos This sounds like some kind of DPI scaling issue maybe? I'm not sure what to do about that so I'm sorry you had issues with it.

joh 2021-04-29 00:59

Hello, I am also having issues with mouse offset. Saw your progress building it and it looked pretty nice and I was definitely looking forward to play it so that's a bit of a bummer. Let me know if you find a solution id certainly like to give it a proper play.

flatgub 2021-04-29 20:07

@joh @xmatos I've uploaded a bugfixed build which I think may solve your mouse offset problem? If you can I'd appreciate you trying the new built to let me know if it worked, because I'm not able to replicate the issue on any device I own.

@flatgub Hey it did fix things though it was a bit small. Was able to play! It was certainly an interesting idea, I love this sort of managing games. I do think it was a bit overwhelming. The game looked great but had a bit of a missed opportunity of conveying info through its art. remembering what each pawn was was a bit challenging. Icons on people would have helped a lot I think. Also hovering information! There was a lot to take in and I'll give you that, it was all explained and the information was available. It was just often through one extra click, I felt. It took me a while to notice the view stockpile, the info on it I feel would have fit has hover info on appropriate rooms. With the fastforward, bars crashing down, having to read and parse information was unfortunately too challenging.

Overall, it still a highly polished and deep game, highly impressive!

baturinsky 2021-04-30 17:24

Played it through end, though it got kinda repetitive. Cabins are kinda useless, as sims nearly never get tired. Most of time I kept drill, mess hall and entertainment room on, shuffling entire crew at once, so I don't have to bother abound individual states.

It would be good to have visible indication of room's task, always visible stockpile, and sims with same jobs having similar color.

Ah, also portraits of people would add a lot to immersions.

justcamh 2021-05-03 02:59

Hey flatgub, neat little game, very polished! I really enjoyed it at the start, but the micro management eventually got to me. I think there's just too much to manage, I had to pause and play so frequently that it took half an hour to drill 1km. I wish there were something that could be done to reduce the micromanagement over time; it was interesting at first, but maybe upgrades could reduce the amount of busy work for the mid to late game?

That said though, I really like the art and ui, everything was very clear, and once I'd settled in, things could be done faster. I like how the status of each room and character can be seen visually, it is very organised. I also like how all the indicators have sounds too. Overall it's a really solid game flatgub!

blackopsben 2021-05-03 11:54

This has a lot of potential but currently there isn't enough visual/audio feedback to help guide the player towards what to do. Had I not noticed the playback buttons at the top I might have sat there for a while wondering why nothing was happening. I think what would be helpful is some sort of indication of what is happening when a character is in a certain room.

pxldev 2021-05-03 19:11

The game looks great! I love the chaotic gameplay!

2021-05-03 19:56

I really like the theme here. I was imagining John Carpenter’s Thing the entire time. The simple interface is actually kind of nostalgic and the simulation running underneath is fairly complex. There’s plenty of detail to keep you busy, although it can be a bit overwhelming at times.

I was especially impressed with the balance of both the simulation elements and the game difficulty given the amount of time you had to get it finished. Good work!

zackavelli 2021-05-03 21:54

Like others have said this game is chaotic, and in the chaos can have moments of fun. I wish the UI was a little bit easier to read. I think it would have been helpful to have icons for each characters profession above their head. Interesting project and not an idea I would have expected so nice job!

cvetk0 2021-05-03 22:26

The doctor and the chef went first... with the non essential personnel gone, the drilling picked up the pace. Rotations were good, scientists cooked and the engineers kept the things going. For some time at least. I felt like I had it but one of the engineers died due to unknown reasons... probably despair .

Great Compo entry and a lot of stuff packed in in such short time. Sure, it's probably too hard to figure out what exactly the needs of individuals are, maybe their most pressing ones could be indicated on the mini map. I am honestly not good in micro managing and trying to figure out all the needs, keep the station running and making sure at least food was stocked up was hard. But I liked this anyway.

Keep up the good work!

wolfier 2021-05-04 05:10

I think my biggest criticism of the game is that i can't tell who's who between the icons and I keep moving the wrong person when one of their stats gets low.

I will also say that moving people around between rooms was kind of awkward since I'd have the game paused to determine my moves and then the game complains when i try to turn on the power in a room. So what usually happens is I press space, push the room buttons, pause, move people, unpause push more room buttons.

The game is really well designed, i do like the really simple artstyle and the gameplay is pretty nice.

gnaro 2021-05-04 10:51

I love management games, and this one is somewhat a mix of Rimworld and FTL, and I do mean that as a compliment! I found it kinda hard to pick up the game pacing and what is required to do in each situation. I feel overwhelmed at times but its great when everything works out and no one dies!

Great game dude!
