LD35 — Shapeshift

Vikings by timtipgames 2016-04-19T16:58:00

A pretty solid game, I found no bugs and i twas pretty entertaining! A few varied enemies would be nice, but otherwise great job!

ADAPT by cabezotta 2016-04-19T15:45:00

I like the level layouts, you did a great job with the procedural generation! Very clean and polished, I had a lot of fun playing it and getting good with shape swapping :)

Shape Shifter by Slothmachine 2016-04-21T17:21:00

This is damn cool, I love puzzle types of games and with a bit more enemy variety, I could definitely see myself spending a few hours playing this one!

shifted by akirassasin 2016-04-19T13:18:00

764! It's a hard game but that's ok! I would have preferred a slightly longer time limit for the time you could be out of the square. Other than that, good job!

Feuding Space Blobs by lkr 2016-04-18T23:19:00

A great idea, it's a good Tower Defense style game. It could be made a bit harder, with perhaps more than one 'core' spawning in hard mode.

Polymorphic Menagerie by Soron 2016-04-19T23:13:00

Interesting idea, I liked how the critters grew after some time.

Ludo's Shifty Adventrue by LordKawaii 2016-04-21T00:01:00

Although it's quite simple, you can see that a lot of thought went in to this. Nice one!

Drift Shift by Bailman03 2016-04-19T15:10:00

This was a lot of fun once you get a hand of the '1234' mechanics. Definitely a great achievement for a 48 hour game!. I loved the drift mechanic, if you were to keep working on it, perhaps it would be better without the 'shifting' mechanics and more of a straight up, top down multiplayer racer, like the old micro machines games.

(Web) Pyramid Escape by lukethecoder64 2016-04-21T00:39:00

An interesting game, I like the exploration focus of the game but knocking over the boxes to get through the hallways was really tough!

Galactic Wars by Sanka-X 2016-04-20T17:18:00

The game is a tad hard, but I got quite far on easy mode. It would be make a cool twin stick shooter, if you could shoot in all directions rather that just to the right.

dos by Pibeex 2016-04-19T15:00:00

This is probably my favourite game so for of Ludum Dare 35, so easy to play and addictive :) I did sometimes find it hard to differentiate between the pentagon and the hexagon, these are probably the two shapes that I failed the most on!

Evolved by FinGamer 2016-04-19T15:34:00

A cool concept, I made it all the way to the end and didn't get stopped by a bug, so good going! It might have been easier to have the shifting keys to be the numpad rather than the Fn keys, but other than that it was great!

Moustaches vs Dumfaces by marod 2016-04-18T22:50:00

Interesting game, it would have been cool to start with a random pickup instead of having to collect them, however I particularly liked the exploding rabbits :D

Shape Shifted by Simple Potential 2016-04-18T23:47:00

This is my kind of game I think! Simple to pick up and no bugs as well so well done! It's a bit slow, but I think that is personal preference!

PuzzleShift by KunoNoOni 2016-04-18T23:10:00

The game reminds me a bit of Tiny Barbarian, which is a good thing! It might have been a better idea to let the stamina refill to max as soon as the player touches the floor, rather than just waiting around. Similar to what Munchy2007 said, this would be a solid, simple platformer if you had been able to fix the issues with the player getting stuck on the purple blocks :)

Evolution by 3rdChance 2016-04-19T21:15:00

Fun with great audio and visuals, but a little too simple on the gameplay side.

William's Dilemma by thunderklaus 2016-04-18T20:45:00

This had a great puzzle learning curve! I didn't feel the need to be told what to do/how to do it, the intuitiveness(?) was really well thought out. Some minor criticisms, as someone else said, a retry button would have been useful and the game ran very pretty slowly in my browser. Other than that though, great job!

Shifting Worlds by ichbinkeinreh 2016-04-18T20:24:00

The 'phase' mechanics was definitely very cool! As a few others said though, the last level was pretty difficult, it would have been good to have it split in to two to show off the mechanics a bit more :)

Cloud Sculptor by Naca 2016-04-19T15:54:00

I like the ethos of the game, it's kind of like those feng shui sand gardens that people rake, there's no real goal it's just to relax you in some way. I think the only thing this entry was missing was some light music :D

The adventures of Wizard Hamster: The epic battle with dreadful Robot Cactus! by Shizor 2016-04-19T14:36:00

A fun quick game, I loved the artsyle! I also liked how you could throw an item if it was too close to another, so well thought out there. Nice!

Binary Shift by JHemmings 2016-04-18T23:41:00

Hey, thanks for the replies, I've uploaded a WebGL version to replaced the Unity Web Player. Thanks for your feedback :D

Binary Shift by JHemmings 2016-04-19T12:52:00

@bazkur98 No problem! Thanks for your feedback, I think most people will definitely think the game needs more time.

The key to the game is that there's a slight wait after the shape has formed, although it's very short. It should allow most people to recognise the shape while the pixels are moving quickly and click a button before the time is up.

Binary Shift by JHemmings 2016-04-19T20:00:00

Thanks for all the comments!

@Ikr I should have got someone to play test it before the Jam time was up, as I could have easily added in that extra second! :D

Binary Shift by JHemmings 2016-04-21T02:37:00

@ KunoNoOni Thanks! :) I was actually thinking about how you could fix the character getting stuck on the purple blocks in your game. In the past I've had the same problem and fixed it by putting an EdgeCollider2D just underneath the player, below where your normal collider2D is. For some reason it just works, particularly if you level is made of lots of colliders!

Binary Shift by JHemmings 2016-04-21T19:09:00

Thanks for the comments,, it's a shame but I think the WebGL build makes the game quicker for some than others. I've tried it on a friends computer and it's much faster on their than on my own :(

Will it Shapeshift? by plantprogrammer 2016-04-19T22:23:00

A unique interpretation of the theme! It was all going well until I shapeshifter myself. Sad times.

Congrats on your first Ludum Dare entry!

55 Days by V4lesti 2016-04-19T21:48:00

A really super polished game! I'm not sure if it fits well with the theme but so good regardless!

The Witch & The Witcher by PixVox 2016-04-19T13:10:00

As pretty much everyone else has said, your illustrations were excellent! I also had trouble getting my way past the guard in the upper level, perhaps it would have been good to have some smaller collision boxes for the guards... :D

CDO by A_Cupcake 2016-04-20T23:52:00

It's good the way the squares turn green when you have them in the right position/size etc. although it did take a bit of figuring out what to do.
