Fun idea! Something was making additional coins spawn over existing ones on respawns but it didn't cause much trouble. It would be interesting to see a more fleshed out version!
LOL, when I realized what I was doing wrong. This game makes you fight against your gamer instincts. It's hard and fun.
Hah, interesting concept! I could see this expanded on a bit for sure!
I Managed to beat all the levels! does anyone else remember playing these types of games in their childhood(I'm under 18 :D)? Very nostalgic.
@tulipekoni That was my goal, to subvert the expectations players have of their goals.
I like the idea of you fighting against your instincts and coins being your enemy (also fits quite neatly in with the theme). Graphics are nice simple but I found an issue where the restart button would go behind the floating islands. A big issue I had was that the controls felt very unintuitive and sometimes straight up unresponsive, I had very little control in the air and it felt a bit like I was battling the game instead of playing it. An otherwise nice concept which was executed quite nicely though I wish that the controls as I said were polished up a little.
Also sometimes when I picked up a coin it would count as 7 or 8 (for some reason)
@call-me-nutty Thanks for the feedback. Maybe in future iteration's I'll try and make the air controls a bit more responsive. I'm afraid to say I did see the bug with multiple coins but had no idea why it happened.
The speed and jump force really just from too much to so little that its hard to control :P Other was a pretty fun little platformer. Great for a first game!
Nice concept for a game, the controls felt a little too loose but the difficulty was just right, it took me a few tries to beat most levels. Kind of wish there was a volume slider as the BGM was a bit loud, though it did fit well. Overall I did enjoy it.
"Screw this dev nobody tells me how greedy I can be"
->Misses next jump and dies
I feel like this will be a recurring theme for my experience in this ludum dare.
Actually playing through a whole bunch of games feels at some point like a chore, but coming across something that is both challenging and enjoyable is a great experience. Graphics were quite simple but effective, I loved the sequential text in the beginning and the gameplay was good.
Thanks @aarre-entertainment
Man was that hard! There was this one coin that really screwed me over, which actually might've been a glitch. Had fun though.
Anyways, clever use of the theme. That intro was awesome, but I think it would've been funnier with some of those over-the-top cinematic bass booms :P
@ale I was so gonna add those as well!
I was struggling with the controls which seemed to slide around a bit. It wasn't 'til later that I noticed I was rolling. Oops! The sliding made more sense after that. It is a bit like mine, but with a much more interesting twist!
I especially like the particles on the coins, to make them that much more enticing. :D
It's a fun concept! The player feels very floaty and the momentum feels weird though. Something about how it controls doesn't feel very tight or precise, which can certainly make it a bit frustrating given the precise movement needed on certain levels. Additionally, the point where you can no longer jump when moving off of a ledge feels a bit off (there were a few time I had momentum and was right at the edge of a platform but it wouldn't let me jump).
Some other recommendations: Give players a button to return to the main menu Let players skip the text on launch instead of having to sit through it after relaunching the game Raise the killzone, as the player currently falls for far too long.
Nice concept, although I found it steering the ball very annoying after a few loses. Graphics and music are great.
