Interesting concept!
I love your art style. And the theme translated to "more light = more enemies" is great, I am tempted to ease my exploring by having more light, but it actually make it harder, forced to constantly re-balance.
Some explanation of the control may help, as far I understood : arrows to move, number to control light, space to jump and left click... We need at least 3 hands to be play comfortably.
Thank you for your feedback! You can use the WASD keys to move your character, hope that helps you with the controls a bit.
I struggle with dark scenes, there are many games which are too dark for me. This one is really hard because even with the light on max I could barely see the ground.
I think there is potential here. The mood is dark and with a little polish it could be really depressing, if you are into that sort of thing =p
Good start! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlEs2Zt4em8
Quite original and I really like the slightly scary mood.
Amazing, thank you for playing our game. I Subscribed to your Youtube, keep the good video's coming. Thanks everyone for your feedback!
Right, I'm going to divide this feedback into two parts, things I like and things that should be added or are bad.
First of all I love the wacky way the character moves, the walking looks funny and weird which I personally love in combination with the theme. I like the artstyle, it's cartoonish but still has a certain spookiness to it, I think wacky animations go well with a spooky theme. I'm also a sucker for platformers so I'm rather fond of this type of gameplay.
Now I know this might sound a bit harsh but negative feedback is probably the most valuable. First of all, where is the intro? Who is this character, why is he there, what does he want or have to do there? There is zero background information about this wacky dude which is a shame.
It would be nice to have a tutorial or at least a preview about what your character can do. The lack of a damage indicator makes damage really confusing and caused me to die really quickly because I didn't even know what happened. Stuff like the oil lamp floating in the air and weird noises for attacks are understandable for a first game!
I could go on about the small stuff but what's most important about this game is that you as a team have fun creating it, making games is all about fun. Sometimes i wonder where it all went wrong with AAA industries and I think it's because they lost the ability to have fun creating something.
I hope this helps and i'm interested in your upcoming projects.

Thank you for your feedback! You are absolutely correct. But sadly we just didn't have time to add a tutorial, backstory etcetera. Maybe next time! Thank you for taking the time to write such an in depth review.
Nice entry! I also felt that the animations were a bit clumsy. Mood of the game was absolutely spot on! music and those footstep -sounds really fit together. Good job!
Cool idea but execution is little bit rough. Firstly, controls feels awkward, jumping and acceleration is weird. Secondly, it's just too hard at times. Overall I like the idea and mood.
Nice game you have here. SUPER WELL DONE!
Come check out my game if you like! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/virus-detected
There's a concept, which can be developed. Hard to play, yet. But somehow tells the story. Or is it just my mind? Almost got the narrative.
It would have been nice to get a controls listing, even in the description for the game. I didn't know that you could even attack for a long time. Also, the game is altogether too dark, even on the brightest lantern setting :(
The idea is interresting. The character is really great. But overall the experience is still a bit rough. Aaaah, that's often what jams are about ! Rushing tough projects with friends...
But I really hope that you will have the fuel to release a post compo version !
Thank you for all your feedback this year! We wished we had more time to implement all our ideas, but at the end of the day, we are happy with what we delivered. A post-compo version is not one of our top priorities at the moment. But we will definitely keep that idea in mind!
