I think it is too dark.
@hello1423 if I make a series the next one will be snow ninjas
The atmospheric music fit the game nicely, i love the death sound, makes it feel kind of goofy as well. The idea behind it seems pretty good too. It was a bit too dark to see anything. Because of the static placement of the camera relative to the player, you could hardly see any enemies before it was too late, unless they were north of the player.
Its way to dark to see and it froze after I died and I couldn't restart. But the music goes well with the game.
Yup - good music, but too dark to be enjoyable. There's a lot of trial-and-error to understand what's going on. Many bugs as well - had to restart a couple of times after being locked on weird states.
A little bit too dark I would say. However, music fits :)
Looking into the crashing :( Also sad about the "too dark" feed back so now when you camouflage, you get cat vision. Don't worry I'll stop working on the game the second the timer ends. @m4co @roberth332 could you tell me what build you were using please?
**SPOILER** The light switch is on the laser control panel
I Liked it a lot! I Just think that its too dark... if you can fix that up it would be awesome!
Nice use of theme, fun mechanic of opening up the level by blasting walls with bombs. I also found it too dark, and it could have had more feedback - e.g. knowing whether an enemy could see me or not, or knowing how much invisibility I had left.
Nice mood music, but I can't see what I'm supposed to be doing. Took me a long time to find the first 'X' to plant the bomb on.
Way too dark even with the lightswitch spoiled above. Should be easier to get started. Music was pretty nice to set the stage.
It was too dark to tell what was going on. I think that is an issue with building to WebGl. I had to rebuild my game because when I built to WebGl it made it alot darker. I do have to say I like the sound ALOT it reminds me of sly cooper. Looking forward to trying it again with the lighting bumped up a hair.
Nice music and lol the robot sound, a bit confusing (gameplay wise) but interesting nonetheless.
Its was just to dark could hardly see the enemies or where to go but the music and concept where really good
It's very dark... Makes it very difficult to play.
Dudes I'm sorry but it's a stealth game...in space. The darkest game of games. Not a bug. I guess I could have done some shader stuff to make things easier to see but nowhere near prepared for that, maybe next jam.
its not about is it stealth or not, but the game literally just dark, theres like nothing other than sound, i honestly think its a bug , probably problem on my end ?, since even activated the ninja vision i can't see anything other than green overlay
@ghen pardon my stubborn words but * it is supposed to be dark. *
I saw this earlier and was hoping for the darkness to be fixed, but I really can't see where I'm going. I think its probably easier to play this when your developing it because you know what your looking at. But coming into it blind it's hard to tell where to go.
@viater sorry, theres extra light when you go in camouflage, when you hit the lightswitch or get ambushed by an enemy
I also couldn't see anything. As it stands, the game is unplayable for me. Sorry.
So I eventually learned that my bomb count was in the top left. I also eventually learned that my camouflage would only work for a few seconds at a time, but I could not see any UI elements to indicate how much I had left. Would have liked that.
You keep saying in the comments there's a light switch, but it is impossible to see the light switch because **everything is pitch black** - you can only turn on the light if you know how the level is designed, which defeats the point.
Anyway, after a ton of trial and error I made it past the first level. Got to the green exit trigger and got thrown into another pitch black room. This one had really tiny X's on the floor, but I couldn't place any bombs or use camouflage to see anything. I also seemed to lose my player model. I don't know if the game glitched out or if this is by design, and that's not saying great things about your game.
Eventually I got tired of running around with no bombs, no camo, and no way to restart the level, so I stopped playing.
Games are primarily a visual medium. There are exceptions, but this isn't one. If you make the whole screen black, there is no way to navigate the levels. You keep touting the light switches, but they aren't even slightly indicated. You keep touting the camouflage, but that only shows you part of the level and isn't available in the second level. Maybe you could work off memory after you get ambushed, but of the however many times I got caught by an enemy the light turned on only once. I get that you wanted to play with darkness. That's fine. But you need to offer an alternate method of navigating, and the ones you provided aren't available most of the time and don't work that well when they are.
Sorry man; you've hidden anything good about the game behind a bad design decision. No easy way to put this.
@amras0000 congrats on making it to level 2! But yeah the invisibility button makes you invisible (people don't read instructions). Yes games CAN be visual mediums but I wanted to offer the best combination of visual and audial feedback to make a challenging game. It hurts me that you made it to level 2 because the camo makes the game wayyyy too easy but here are the tips I can give to new players.
Stick to the walls and watch out for enemy patrols. If you hear an enemy, freeze until you can monitor them and slip by them. Or if you prefer, stick a bomb up their a$$.
Also Escape reloads the game ^^ dying should reload the level
Like everyone else I thought It was super dark, and I was having some trouble getting out of level one because of that since I had no clue what was going on. But I like the concept and it could have some real potential.
Way too dark, need to be able to see where I am going and what I am doing, even when in camo / ninja mode.
I think it's a nice concept, but I am with the others and think that it is a little too dark. It is pretty confusing when you play the first time and don't know about the extra vision and such. Found out about that, but still was pretty confused why I died sometimes. Overall nice idea, but pretty difficult as it is.
Sadly I couldn't see anything.
Nice idea. But too dark. Couldn't find how to activate the ninja vision to make it better :( I feel like it would be great with a bit more lighting.
I just cant see anything, and it looks like enemy is not shooting at the right direction.
I like the camouflage ability. would be fun it had some restrictions like for example you can't move while camouflaged. nice entry!
Nice work, those robots scared the shit out of me when they chased me down, felt like I was a human on the Bot Planet from Futurama. The character was too slow, and I think nightvision is broken on level 2. Audio was good and made it a really nice atmosphere.
Okay, that was incredibly hard! Like the others mention, it was really dark. I think one solution would be to have a very soft point light attached to the player so you'r never really in black.
Nice idea but way too dark, but the music abd sounds made it quite atmospheric though.
It's like dark souls but darker.
Jokes aside, I saw the dev log already and I get your point, but the fix was necessary IMO. Also you could switch your controls from ZXC to Q/E/R like FPS games usually do, it's more comfortable and players need to move their hands less. And nice audio work.
am I the only one that hates the audio jfc
@kjetil I did exactly that, but it's still too dark for some people so I give up
@kjetil Good Jam game. Yes its pretty dark but that matches its mood and the music was great, really foreboding. Also, don't try to please everyone, make games for you.
@rupert-nerddaygames thanks for the support (i made this not kjetil lol) there has to be a balance though so theres no shame in taking feedback into account, there is in making a game that fits everyone xD
I think your game definitely has a lot more potential if the instructions were more clear. It's difficult because, like a lot of people are saying, it's too dark, and unclear how the game mechanics are supposed to work. Anyways, I like the music!
I can't see anything :(
Played around a bit and had some fun, managed to get to the second level. There's a good game in here!
