Hey m8 i r8 this game an 8/8

2017-12-04 13:50

Game Matches the theme perfectly. For Me it was a bit confusing but after playing it for a good 5 mins I got the hang of controls. This game at its current state is playable but it lacks the depth. I suggest make it a multiplayer game (Red and blue) they can shoot each others bullets and if they miss there bullet gonna be a target for other player. Make target spawn at random positions after some period of time.

Thanks for your feedback, We were thinking to make it multiplayer in the beginning but we ran out of time, even though the game jam was 48 hours we were too busy with other stuff so we had to make it in 24 Anyhow it's all about having fun (^^)

Good ideia i enjoyed playing the game and its realy nice adptation of the theme however i found it a bit to confusing when it came to getting it. Sometimes the bullet seemed to pass by me as if they were above me and sometimes it hit me but it may just be me being abit of a noob =) good job anyway found it preaty fun

Nice entry! Enjoyed playing it for a while. After some time I was able to get the enemy pretty easy, and only made it harder on myself by spamming all the bullets. Works great with the theme. Good job!

This game does have some issues with mapping 3D information onto a 2D interface, but more often than not, that works in the player's favor, allowing them to "dodge" bullets that pass right over them. I was slightly bothered by the red and blue circles on the top and bottom of the box that inhibited movement, but ultimately it just meant I stayed to the "walls" of the box instead. I had a lot of fun just hopping about firing bullets wildly about the box. Nice work!

Great take on the theme! I also really liked the simplistic style. Just a small tip though, pack the game in a zip file so you don't have to have an extra program installed to unpack it. At least it reminded me that I didn't have 7zip installed on my tablet yet ;)

I just had trouble to find out that the enemies were the red balls but It is an interresting concept!!!! love it

kantora 2017-12-07 12:14

That was a pretty cool concept! I actually liked the unconventional way to move. I really enjoyed playing it though it was quite tough at the start. Nice entry!

P.S. : Happy to see a mac port! Don't see much of those so I can't play a lot of the games

settings 2017-12-07 12:20

I have never played something like this before, it was a fresh experience! I think it's mainly because of the movement.

Many times when I died, the "death animation" occured in a different spot than where I died. But idk, besides this I don't have much to say, I liked it! Congrats!

bastienre4 2017-12-07 12:34

Nice little game but its hard to see the projectile depth. Congrats :)

Great slick gameplay with nice graphics and movement + camera made the game even better. The changing environment was also a good touch.

Not much to complain about without getting nitpicky.

aruculadomal 2017-12-07 12:40

Woah! amazing gameplay! took me a while to understand everything, but I loved it. I really like how you can climb into the walls or ceiling, and how the bullets go where you aim, even if the enemy is on the wall. Particle work is on point too, really cool! Let me think about something to complain... maybe if the difficulty increased a little faster it would be even funnier. Also, in the beginning, I thought the red boxes were the enemies, took me a while, maybe they could be another color. amazing work guys, solid entry!

Awesome game ! I was surprised by the absence of sound (correct me if i'm wrong) but the controls and camera are great, the minimalist approach hits home, awesome job !

josscomposer 2017-12-07 14:09

I don't understand but the windows build doesn't seem to work... :-/ it tells me the archive is corrupted... :-( I want to play it !! damn !

lestat 2017-12-08 08:27

Same, the .rar seems to be corrupted

rngsilvercraft 2017-12-08 08:40

Nice little game here! The 3d space really makes it stands out.

lestat 2017-12-08 08:46

Just had to update winrar, now it works.

josscomposer 2017-12-08 12:09

@lestat thank you !! AAAAwesome game !!! I will threaten you so you put a leaderboard ! This is enough to keep me playing for hours.... x) Also, sfx, ambient sound and music would be really great ! (I can do it if you want) See ya ! PS : our game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/the-darkest-light

hugimugi7 2017-12-08 13:27

Fun mechanic and that blocky art style really fits! Audio would have been cool though...

2017-12-08 19:23

very cool game to play, simple and perfect the 3d world soo interactive to play nice job!!

spaceturtle 2017-12-09 10:44

Interesting concept and nice aesthetic. I think the mechanics would work a lot better on a 2D plane, because in 3D the lack of depth perception and limited field of view mean dodging projectiles is largely a matter of luck.

plasmonic 2017-12-09 12:06

Love the gameplay, very cool! Shame about the lack of audio though.

tulipekoni 2017-12-09 12:51

I wasn't able to move my character?! is that a bug or a feature :D please someone help

aldo-v 2017-12-09 12:56

@tulipekoni Use your cursor to point and press ‘right click’ to move or press ‘left click’ to shoot in that direction

2017-12-09 13:08

Interesting idea, but didn't find any skill to not getting shot other than just not spamming. I'd love to see the other cubes in the arena affecting my strategy, which would have to change when the cubes moved. (edit: accidentally published anonymously -- this is runamucker)

joror 2017-12-09 16:08

Figuring out I was the blue cube, and not that the blue cube is my aiming cursor clarified things a bit. :D Like the smooth abstract look, but the game itself was a bit too simple for my taste. A few sound effects / music would also do wonders.

lorenzos 2017-12-09 16:31

Original gameplay, I can't remember of games I played onto the inside walls of a cube.

The description says your bullets can hurt you, but to me they can't, fortunately! Also, I can't get what red cubes are: the description talks about blue one (you) and white ones (obstacles). I find confusing not be able to see the enemies at the beginning.

I suggest you to opt-out from audio votes, since I see there's no audio effects or music in the game :)
