Absolutely charming of a game. Well done!!!
It was really good, i liked the concept a lot!! Great work!!
This is a lot of fun, and I think it should be polished up and developed some more. The controls seem a little bit janky, but the basic concept is solid.
Really good game! Graphics are nice and fit well even if they're not outstanding. A little bit more sound effects would have helped, maybe for when your tree gets hit? Regarding the theme of the jam, I didn't really see two incompatible genres, I guess it's just a good old tower defense game where the camera follows the main character. But it's good!
First off, this game is gorgeous and the aesthetic is beautiful and I don't know why you disabled mood because I'd be rating you pretty highly on the atmosphere you've created.
Two real quick and super minor nitpicks I ran into when I started playing:
One. The non-fullscreen window barely doesn't fit on a 1080p screen and there doesn't seem to be a way to resize it
Two. The first thing you see when you start the game is "F" right in the middle of your screen, so instinctively you build a branch, which is an awful use of your first 25 acorns since it does nothing to protect you.
Now back to the compliments.
This game does a lot of things right. The arc on your firing means there's some skill to the aiming and you don't just click on the enemy. The enemies seem to come in ever faster at just the right rate that you always have to be building new defenses; after the start of the game it's not enough to rely on your peashooter. There are enemies to counter every strategy. The game is dripping with polish and good design and I love it.
That said, I still don't entirely understand the point of branches. Sure, if you're trying to defend against high-flying wasps they're necessary, but they're incredibly expensive to deal with one of the few enemies the peashooter works well against. Maybe you could place a catapult on a branch to increase its range, but I didn't get far enough into the game to test that hypothesis.
I'm likely going to go back to this game later and try to find a better strategy than what I've been trying. You've really done some good work here. Thanks for the entry.
P.S. - My high score after a couple tries is 7 minutes 50 seconds.
Graphics, Animations and Sound are awesome. Balance maybe a bit off, but like i said ons stream, not doable in a Jam so wont affect my rating. I will defintly play it more later. So yeah really good job!!!
TD usually is static, this makes you active. I like the concept. Good job. Needs a bit of balancing. And good luck polishing it. :D
Really fun game. I have to play it a little bit more becouse it feels pretty difficult at the beginning, nevertheless a really neat game with cool art and a really good idea. SO fun!
This is a really cute game. The animations could use some work - the squirrel slides a lot when running. The sound effects are great! I hope you keep polishing this - I'd play it more.
Really digging this take on a tower defense. I like the multi-layer level. Art looks good too. Plays well. Pretty challenging to keep up with each side of the tree. Good job guys
I really like the mood you've created here with the graphics--especially love the helmet on the squirrel! The extra dimension of climbing up to defend air threats is a cool idea. Nice job.
Lovely visuals, fell in love with that cute squirrel pretty damn quickly! I don't really play tower defense games, so I wasn't so aware of the "upgrade your turret always" rule that tends to fall within the genre. The platforming elements were some limited, would have liked to see maybe a more diverse scenery away from the tree where you would have to jump carefully to place an advantageous turret etc.
10/10 Not enough water.
just got the twitch record with 16:58 get rekt :dog:
Not a fan of the forced resolution (worked for me on my setup, but I can see how it wouldn't elsewhere).
However, this is a very together game. It was challenging without being too punishing and kept me on my toes.
Really enjoyed this entry a ton! Tower defense games are one of my favorite type of games. I loved the chill gameplay, it was so relaxing and enjoyable. The art is coherent and very cozy and the music just hits the right notes to make this a superb feelgood game.
Great job!
This was a whole bunch of fun. It started to get more stressful the further you got but trying to see how far you could go was really fun :) The artsyle was really nice and I loved the main character :D Nice work!
The amtmosphere in the game is spot on. Visually and the audio make it seem pretty chill, but once you get going with running back and forth managing structures and enemies it can become pretty intense. Would love to see this polished up and released later if you continue to work on it.
Couple of suggestions from things I noticed when playing. * I didn't notice when clicking fullscreen that it was actually going in and out of fullscreen. I'm guess the resolution in windowed is 1920x1080, so the size of my monitor, but having it borderless at that point doesn't allow for resizing it down if I wanted. * Would have liked to see some number information on the structures before building the, like their overall dps or attack/strength value, as well as how much of an increase it gives when upgrading. If it is there already, I didn't notice the information provided. * Maybe a small tutorial or more descriptive how to play as well. I wasn't sure exactly what i was supposed to be doing right off the bat other than protecting the tree and what the controls were. You start within the tree with the "F" message for adding branches, so I was assuming that I should do that first instead of later.
Overally I enjoyed this. And MonoGame on top of that <3
Pretty nice game, played for a couple hours. My best time is 18:26.
Wow. That's one cool game. Needed fullscreen and that's my only "complain". Other than that, let me continue playing it :D
Oh, I haven't supposed it would be so difficult and I was so surprised when I died... because of one touch! :D Pretty nice game where you really want to go further and further :D It reminds me old-school times when I was playing browser games at school, what an amazing times, thank you! I am just not sure if tower defense is incompatible with platformer - no matter 3D or 2D. There were games that proved that they are :D But overall - really well done!
Very polished for a jam game, great job! I wish the game was faster-paced. Part of that though is me not playing many strategy-type games. It's really cool zooming out and seeing your whole tree, and also climbing up and down to manage your towers.
Very good game.
Great Game! I love the cheerful mood. It has a high replay value. I had a lot's of fun playing it.
