I delivered 19 babies :D. Nice game!
Nice entry, I incorporated delivering babies into mine too.
I delivered 17
Jeez, that was stressful! I delivered eighteen babies, though, so I think I did a decent job, but eventually I got fired after someone complained that I wasn't giving her enough morphine. Anyway, after that I played your game, and it was pretty good!
Nice Game! I also interpreted the theme as delivering babies. This is definitely challenging. I found my self wanting a way to dash or sprint to get around faster. Well done!
@kreshi & @valmontechno - Those are good scores, I'm not even sure what is my high score with the final build as I probably remember some 20 something from easier builds I made previously
@brandon-campbell thanks for the feedback. I thought about it but finally did not include it (Submitted the game at 23:30 local time and did not have energy for more features)
@john-gabriel - Thanks for playing the game. Next time we should try epidural anesthetics before morphine
The web version is hanging while loading (the one on itch.io) I tried with both Safari and Chrome on macOS but no chance. I also gave a spin at the Windows version on a Windows 11 instance running in Parallels but all I can see is an azure screen and the music playing in the background but nothing else.
Featuring moms with attitude throwing up middle fingers during childbirth! The simple art nails it, with the crib-to-OR distance just right for a breezy baby-delivering experience.
Just call me daddy :sunglasses:

I like how the theme is applied in not so obvious way! Although delivering painkillers to mums giving birth is not what I expected to do monday evening, I had fun :D
@tanis - I'm sorry to hear. I checked if I can export to MacOS, but it seems it is not possible from Windows (at least I've never done it before and I get many errors).
It also seems that the html5 build is not working in MacOS in any browser. From the Godot 4 official documentation: >Godot 4's HTML5 exports currently cannot run on macOS and iOS due to upstream bugs with SharedArrayBuffer and WebGL 2.0. We recommend using macOS and iOS native export functionality instead, as it will also result in better performance.
@binroot - I've been in 2 baby deliveries and showing the middle finger is the mildest I can imagine (any other form of swearing would be more NSFW). I'm happy you liked the art style, it was my first attempt at pixel art. Thanks for playing
@rickylee - You are the boss, thanks for playing with such a dedication :sunglasses:
@justslavic - Thanks! Happy you had fun. I only thought about delivering babies, but you are right, double delivery!
The entry is pretty cool and works well.
I would suggest improving the gameplay by adding something when the baby is delivered. Currently, it's possible to "lock" some beds by never getting the baby, allowing to focus on one single bed. Having the mums getting angry if you never come and pick up the baby would be a simple fix.
Nice take on the theme!
The music is a bit too repetitive. I'd advise that you don't use a piano when it's the only instrument. I found that the repeated "tapping" sound of the piano becomes annoying quickly, compared to using an oboe or violin for the same melody. That being said, it's cool that you took the time to create the music, and the sound effects are fun!
Mothers gesturing with their middle finger made me laugh :D
Good work!
@rolly thank you for the review. I agree the current gameplay is exploitable, I might extend it in the future after the jam is over. And yes, the music is 50 notes in a midi piano kind of randomly pressed when I was sleep deprived. I need to experiment with music and sound creation between jams and I will give it a go and test some other instruments instead of piano. This time it was pure improvisation.
What a fun take on the theme! During my first attempts I only managed to deliver 18 babies, but the second time around, with the knowledge of the keeping-mothers-in-some-bed strats I got above 20 like I wanted.
The distance between beds and cribs was perfect, you always had to stay on your toes to make sure you have all four beds under control, there were some nailbiter moments with the outer beds, that made gameplay very exciting. The art when the mothers are getting more and more angry was super funny too. Great job on this game!
Nice to see a different use of the theme. If the doctor was a bit faster the gameplay could've been more dynamic, the slow pace of the doctor takes a bit away from the chaos. Nice game!
@captaindreamcast - Happy you liked it :) @icarusdev2 - Thanks for the feedback. I tried to keep the doctor's speed constant and adjust the other variables to "balance" the game. When the doctor was too fast I had trouble handling everything even if I could get further faster.
Fun entry. Our team considered a baby delivery themed game then went with packing space freighters with packages. Fun to see someone's version of a game we almost went for. Loved the middle fingers lol.
19 babies deliered. Pretty clever idea :D Good job!
Nice work! I had 20 babies delivered before I learned about the strats others had mentioned. The little variations between the mothers was a welcome touch. Was fun :D
I saw you mentioned experimenting with instruments in another comment. If you would like some realistic sounding sample libraries to play around with, here are some free ones I know about:
Spitfire LABS
Orchestral Tools SINEfactory
Project SAM (Haven't used it myself but it seems to sound pretty good, requires the verison of Kontakt Player)
pretty cool little game + You could keep the exclamation points for when the mother has a baby as she is annoyed she didn't get the pain killers before having it and is getting annoyed that you're not taking the baby from her.
@crimoudin - Thanks for playing, I did not expect the middle fingers to be such a success
@kuggenhoffen - Thanks for playing!
@xfinktion - I really need to start experimenting with music in between Jams, I'm a coder and it is my weakest spot. Thanks for all the recommendations, I will have a look over the weekend!
@ellaris - I will probably extend a bit the game once the ludum dare is over. I had many ideas on how to continue but I had no time (I was going to make the babies poop if it took too long to be picked from mum or the doctor carried them for too long). I will prototype your suggestion too, it could work and be easy to implement.
Interesting concept :) that was a funny take on the theme. I suggest adding some background visual elements. Nice job!
@thomas-bringer - Thanks for playing! I will add some background. Art is not my forte, so I will try to add something simple after this ends.
Well done! I like the minimalized graphics. gameplay could use some more variation, maybe some hazards to avoid as you naviate.
ldgameshot.png Goofy fun. Good escalation, I liked how things got out of hand.
This is why I love playing LD games! It's simple, silly, and the selfmade sound effects are the icing on the cake. :ok_hand:
The gameplay is easy to understand, and the instructional text also helps a great deal. After a while it became a bit monotonous, and by refusing to place the babies in the cribs I made it a lot easier.
All in all a great and funny submission, well done!
I delivered 19 babies! Funny concept, but walking around to delivery painkillers and moving the babies around kind of drags on after a while. Perhaps if there was feedback to how well you were doing, or escalation of things to do or perhaps more robots to manage? Anyway keep up the good work!
the baby game we all needed!! A uproarious jaunt of a game
@linus-lindberg - Thanks for playing and for the suggestions. I will consider it when I do the next version of the game :) @bea - Thanks for playing. Happy you like it. @drtizzle - Thanks for the feedback! And yes, I think the charm of this 48h game is all the handmade in-a-rush stuff. It is suboptimal but it is fun. @aeveis - I guess I never thought past the "a short game of a few minutes", so I will need to think about the progress and how to increase the difficulty and variety. @wetburritosupreme - Thanks for playing
Creative view on the theme. Good game difficulty. It's both hard yet manageable, difficult to achieve that.
