Very interesting mechanics! Difficult at the beginning, but quickly get the hang of it

spoopyissad 2023-01-18 00:23

Very unique game, I had fun playing, though at times it felt too difficult. Great job!

Super cool control scheme! It takes a while to get used to and the difficulty ramps up a bit fast, but nice game overall!

Awesome game mechanic you got there! I feel like I'm so bad at your game, but at the same time I know it's entirely my fault so it makes me want to try again.

I loved that your take on the theme is a reaper taking care of its flowers. Makes it so cute :)

The visuals are pretty good, with the little cutscenes and everything! The only thing that bothered me was the flowers when the scene contains to many of them. The fact that their animations are synchronized made it look like the background was moving while I was trying to focus on the gameplay, which made it very disturbing. I think it would be ok if all flowers were moving at different speeds or asynchronously.

Would have loved a nice little music with it!

Good job!

Very fun and interesting mechanic. I was stuck on the last level for a while but I eventually beat it. The cutscene was pretty cool so I was hoping there would be one for beating the game. The only problem was the flower animation kinda made it hard to focus sometimes since they made it look like the screen was moving. Overall really cool and innovative game.

Refreshing to see something a bit different, both control-wise and visuals. Nice job!

That was really interesting, I'm not sure if I've ever gotten something that controlled exactly like that ()! It was annoying at times to build up enough speed for your scythe, even when spinning my mouse, I needed an unreasonable amount of space to build up enough speed in order to slash the weeds; I know this was probably fine tuned to make the game at all challenging, but I wish it could've been at least a *little* more sensitive (but that also could've been me setting my sensitivity too low ). Really nice, I would've liked at least a little bit of audio, but I get it being hard to implement any, I've done the same thing myself.

Good job, keep it up, and I'll see you next jam!

Wow, im really glad i made that post... This is a game like BPM(if you dont know it check it out)... Its simple, its 1 mechanic, no complexity just basic. But that gameplay loop! OOOF! Its just... OOOF I LOVE IT! And i have so many random incoherent remarks so i hope you dont get lost... - I played a game this jam called "Shred a bunch" and it was about a combine with which you harvest things avoiding zombies. I tried to hard to spin around as much as possible to do the scythe move from this game just for fun lol. Sadly it wasnt very supported to do so in that game... - I dont know if you have fast food thin pancakes where you live, and if they are made the same way so this might sound strange. But i felt like i was making one! xD Likes smoothing over in circles, ah it was so satisfactory! - I want more out of this, route A add a timer, so we see beautiful compilations of people cleaning the levels in one ballet like dance... Or B make a Vampire Survivor game like this... Or C both! Or D, tell me if you wont do it so i can steal the idea and not feel guilty about it! Im not joking please tell me... :3 - I really hope you get to your 20 ratings, since this is a really amazing small mechanic that i would love to see being further worked on. Good luck!

PS. your link doesnt work!

Interesting concept. I really love the idea of swinging the scythe yourself. Really fun idea for a physics game.

However, I felt the smoothing of the character when you moved really took away some of the fine control you need to swing the scythe and avoid the flowers. It made the game difficult and frustrating to play.

Wow, very clever controls ! It feels fun to have the right momentum to make the right movement, so well done it's a great idea !

That was a great mechanic, and well used. I enjoyed playing. I struggled a bit on level 5, but eventually realised there were flowers off the edge of the screen. Resolved by not using fullscreen mode and resizing the browser window to get the whole thing in. My mouse also took the opportunity to run out of battery half way through which didn't help. Got to the end eventually. I really like the trails the scythe makes. All the flowers switching to the next frame at once like that is quite jarring when there is a lot of them though.

This game was really good! I enjoyed the mechanic and think that it has alot of potential in the same manner as Dustforce DX has. With a neat soundtrack behind it I coulde see myself playing your gem casually
