I like the increasing challenge encountering more guards. I think some different guards or obstacles in the houses would have added some enjoyment, I'm sure there are a few things. Cool use of the theme!

I love the idea x) But guards can see you through walls :warning:
Really fun! Great use of the theme and well executed stealth game. I think guards can see a bit more than they should and the camera is a bit close to the player but it's a fun stealth game.
Also, nice effect on the TVs and the music is cool
The game was quite fun! The controls were smooth and the premise of it was simple. The sound design was well done as you were able to find out if you were caught with distinct alert sounds and know if you were grabbing or dropping the presents. I also really enjoyed the simple layout of the map and how each house had a distinct look and were easy to tell apart this made it easier to recall if I had visited an area. I also loved how the guards pathing seemed to be erratic and that they could peruse you over the entire map and are not locked into sectors. This added a sense of danger to the situation as it makes it harder to predict their movements and makes the guards a legitimate threat if you can't seem to shake them. There is defiantly room to polish some things up like the guards sights as they can see though windows and maybe a small exploit where you can run diagonally to run a bit faster without using stamina, but even with that it was very well done!
Overall this was a very fun a satisfying game to sit down and pass the time with and defiantly was worth giving a try! :)
Thank you all for the great feedback. Yea the guards I was just happy to get working as I have never done any kind of AI or pathfinding in Unity before so even getting it to work I had to say 'good enough' and move on to polish :) At first I just had them chase people in a radius but changed it where they have to spot them but its not a flawless thing. I just said 'they must hear you rummaging though the houses and chase you' lol. If I work on it in the future that will definitely be something to improve upon.
@kiguel182 I'm glad you liked the music. Its only my second time making music :D Also glad you noticed the tv. I thought it might go unnoticed and I would have wasted my time :)
Nice interpretation of theme! I like it
good little game, wish there was more to the dodging of the guards, or a way to stun them maybe.
First tried on my laptop, and the frame-rate was so low I clipped through every wall and fell into the void xD
It's a neat game, feels really snappy to control (especially with the sound effects). I had to be quick about entering buildings, it was game-over if the guards saw me in one. I'd suggest it could use some way to know where you've been and/or need to go, so that you're not searching the entire map for the last present or two (since it's a pretty large map).
@sudocoffee I hope you were able to run it better on another computer lol. That lag would be awful.
I wanted to get more buildings made to give a bit more landmarks but doing it all alone I ran out of time. Thanks for the feedback
Some parts of the scene are too dark to see any path clearly.
Really fun little game, only criticism I can think to give is that the Pause button only allows the player to reset the game, not resume. Would be good if we could pause and un-pause, but overall I really enjoyed playing this. Fun premise and very chill music loop too.
It's a well-made little game! Gameplay loop is already decent, and I can only suggest maybe play with movement speed, guards AI and player field of view to see how it can affect gameplay. Maybe the camera can shift slightly in player movement direction so he can spot guards more easily sometimes. Overall I like how the guards behaved - it felt almost unpredictable when they patroled gaps between buildings.
@matthewdrake I made an edit to the controls. Esc is actually pause and unpause which I forgot to say :D Sorry for making you accidently restart the game :) Glad you had fun!
Nice game! I like stealth games a lot. A small bug was that I could clip through walls sometimes. But still a great entry, congrats :)
@thomas-bringer Yeah I was hoping no one would notice because I couldnt get the collision to work correctly but it happens :) I figured if you figured it out you deserved to use the exploit lol
Props for doing a 3D game for the compo. I think I was able to walk through walls in the house immediately across from the drop zone.
Guards looking through walls is pretty unfair and the character could be a bit faster ^^U Apart from that I liked playing it. Congrats!
Cool stealth game! I would have loved if it was a bit more challenging, or have more things to do. It was a bit too easy to outrun the guards.
Simple 3D, but it works well!
The music gives both a "stealth" and "funny" vibe, that's nice!
Good job!
Cool game liked the graphics as well as the music. Always impressed by 3D and the lighting was used incredibly well. Sound effects were great they fit in perfectly.
Found it chill and kind of stressful (in a good way) at the same time. It was pretty challenging but I'm not very good at stealth games. From the ones I have played this seemed well balanced..
Didn't really mind that the guards could see through walls because I accidentally slipped through the walls to get away from them a few times which I enjoyed.
Funny little game, I like the concept of the "reverse delivery." I will say that the guards seemed to notice me too easily, even if I was behind a wall, and it was too easy for them to catch up to me and corner me, was very challenging to get away. Also I think it would be interesting to make it so the guards only arrest you if you are doing something illegal - i.e. in another person's house or holding a present, but just walking around empty handed or in your own home, they would let you be. Congrats on completing and submitting your game!
Very nice! Guards are a bit OP, and I think you might have a faulty model somewhere, because being in certain areas absolutely tank the FPS. Liked it!
Really fun compo entry! I've seen a lot of people interpret the "Delivery" theme as Santa delivering presents, so doing a game about stealing them was a nice subversion.
There's definitely something off about guards detection colliders. I think their shape might be a bit different than the shape of the light cone would suggest. Quite often I walked into the light from one of the sides and managed to turn back without being detected. On the other hand, the guards' detection range directly in front of them is so long they sometimes found me before I even saw them on my screen.
And they can see through the walls - at one point I was hiding on the bottom of the map, behind a building, and a guard approaching the front of the building managed to detect me. Because of that, best I could do is get 7 presents before being caught. At one point, one detected me when I was standing still in the delivery zone: rhc.png I'm not sure what's the best way to fix this, but one thing I'd definitely do is make the present delivery zone a "safe zone", so you can't get detected when you're in there.
The camera seems a bit close the player, but I guess that wouldn't be a big issue once the guards' detection is improved a bit. One thing I'd add for the camera is a bit of look-ahead movement, so you can see more in the direction you're moving in. Did you use Cinemachine for your camera? Try it out, it's pretty easy to figure out some basic uses for it, and it does have simple controls for things like look-ahead values.
Other than these issues, I really liked the game. The guards' movement patterns were cool. It was fun just watching them move around while trying to move quickly between the buildings and finding one of them decided it is the best place to patrol at the time. :P The music felt cheeky, fitting for a Robin Hood type of character. The environment seems well designed. The TV effect was nice, though it made me spend way too much time watching all the TV's to see if there were any hidden messages occasionally shown on the screens. Maybe it's a good idea for a future easter egg? :P
@lcstark Thanks for all the feedback. I definitely wanted to improve the guards detection but due to time and this being the first time I have coded enemy AI in unity, I didnt want to waste TOO much time on it. Currently how they detect, there is a ray that casts in front of them the length of the light. I couldnt figure out how to do a cone detection so it is just a straight line. I also couldnt figure out how to make it not detect through walls. It works sometimes but not others lol. Because I couldnt get it to work how I wanted I also added a small radius detection to act as "hearing" you as it was to easy with the failed cone detection. I guess it didnt come across good enough and could have used enough work but honestly just proud I got the navmesh and ray tracing detection working since it was the first time.
For the camera, it isnt cinemachine. I had coded a smooth camera so the camera lags a little behind but seeing everyones feedback, I should have probably inverted it to trail ahead of your movement :) hind sight and all.
The tv effect took a lot longer then I wanted to take :D but enjoyed the affect it added. I definitely wanted to add some stuff on the screen but had to edit. I learned a lot of new things to implement in the future however since I am relatively new to unity (mostly GMS for me). Anyways, thanks for the detailed feedback!
Some strangeness with the guards (seeing through walls, et al mentioned above), but I did enjoy this a lot sleuthing around and avoiding detection. Good work all around!
The game is rather good! Nice concept and idea. Design looks good, too. I can say, that it's a good job
pretty cool!
It's an interesting concept, but as others mentioned the camera made it very challenging to play. And it would be nice if the guards didn't follow so long. Given the time restriction this is decently smooth for 48 hours though. (I got 5 presents at my max, but I only got that many because I figured out I could clip through walls.)
I like the weird christmassy robin-hood-esc vibe of this game. A very unique twist on the theme. As people have already mentioned this game does have a few bugs, but overall for a compo this is a good entry!
