Awesome game, actually a fun little challenge. I think I worked out a slightly BS way to win but hey, I beat them all!

Awesome game, actually a fun little challenge. I think I worked out a slightly BS way to win but hey, I beat them all!
Very cool. Nice use of the theme, nice mechanic. Well done.
I really enjoyed it.
Really fun. Reminded me a bit of Pikmin but with more crippling debt. I had some difficulty beating on the guys but I went back and tried again and figured him out. You have a nice little audio loop as well as solid gameplay.
Nice music and use of the theme, but I'm not really sure how the opponent decides on who to send. Is it randomized or do they actually have some algorithm that they follow? If so, that's pretty cool.
Clever little game and play on the theme.
This was a pretty cool game! I liked the management aspects and battle sequences. The hand drawn art looked pretty good as well. Question: is there anything in the dark green area? I explored it for a while but didn't find anything.
@pookipoot good question! I never got around to putting a wall around the region  so there's actually nothing in the dark-green areas
Had fun getting in and out of debt!
interesting concept especially how you need to strategize to know when and from whom to borrow, settle, and then take everything from them! lol Perhaps this might make the game a bit too easy but I wonder if letting the player know which units the enemy has chosen at the start of each round (or some sort of hint) might make it more fun to strategize. Then again, I typically lean to over empowering the player (preference of mine I suppose). :P Well done!
Cool game, nice mechanic and nice take on the theme. The battles seemed a little bit too easy; for my last battle, the opponent should have easily crushed me, but it seemed like he didn't want to send big amount of troops and I could get them one by one, even though I was outnumbered.
The visuals are ok, but their animations are really cool and add a lot to the cute/funny vibe. The music is simple too but works correctly with the visuals and spirit of the game.
Very good job overall, it's a nice entry!
Nice one! I loved the graphics (super cute characters, simple but effective animation, background is equally simple but adds a lot to the mood). Sound worked well, too (it's not good music _per se_, but worked very well for the game). Simple and interesting mechanics. Canonical example of "the sum being larger than its parts"!
What I missed: First, the battles felt too random in the sense that the opponents don't seemed much smart when selecting their "soldiers". Second, I think that I won the game, but there was no message telling me that!
Oh, and a nice interpretation of the theme! I really tried to come with more creative ideas, but could not think of any non-obvious idea that was also fun. Hats off! :tophat:
This was so fun! I got a bit confused at the end after beating everyone in the sand area. Did I win? Do I have to go to the grass? Otherwaise, great game!
@mrbrainfed you won! I ran out of time to design and implement the end-state :poop:
I managed to get every little critter and not lose a single one! The overall game was simple, but well executed. I feel like if there's a way to tell what the opponent is going to select, then I couldn't figure it out. The game is somewhat easy if you start by taking some heavy hitters and then attacking the ones with small stuff to pay back the debt right away. That said, I felt like there was some strategy to it, and I also felt like this game was reinforcing some good ideas about debt (pay it off immediately, don't borrow more than you need, etc.). I was frustrated that I couldn't dethrone my debtors, but I suppose taking the 10s and then attacking the guy who had them would be a bit too easy. I like this interpretation of the theme, and I'm glad to see a game that did it!
Congratulations on your game, it is very beautiful and the characters are very charismatic which makes it a very fun game, my suggestion for future upgrades would be to add enemies that use basic operations like multiply and subtract, a big hug, and I await your feedback regarding to my game.
Really cool! The setting and atmosphere are great and it feels like a very nice place to be in. Art is lovely and music fits really well. Mechanics have to be discovered through some messing around but otherwise not very hard to get. Figuring out the strategy is the best part!
“Deeper and deeper in debt” isn't fun haha, but it is a fun game!
Good exploration of an interesting concept, I don't think I ever played something similar before.
Maybe with more fighting and strategic depth, It could be a very good full game.
A simple you won message when you beat all enemies would have saved me some time searching for more. Good job on making me want to play more of it though.
Cool idea! The exploitability makes it pretty fun. :)
Cool - I borrowed and battled until I had defeated all of the other dukes. The combat mechanic is fairly interesting. Good enough for a game jam though could probably get a few extra layers of strategy and nuance if you were to decide to turn this into a more full fledged game. Nice relaxing background beats. Great for a compo to have been able to include that.
You have the guts of an interesting idea here. Alas, I think there are some bugs that prevent debts from being paid? Also - I didn't understand why I should chose a particular option (fight vs. borrow). Some explanation of why the choices were relevant would have been good. I seemed to be able to walk off the map into nowhere which was confusing. I'd love to see a more polished version with tighter instructions! Satisfying to win a battle with a bigger army! Good luck for the jam! :)
