Unfortunately the download doesn't seem to work
I can't download it! Will come back later
great concept, kinda off putting with the sudden changes
I wanna play but it wont download
I reuploaded the Files as "Hectical-escape-Win32.zip" hopefully it can be downloaded now.
The first download didn't work for me but the win32 one did. The movement felt pretty nice, doing a charge jump is pretty unique for a platformer like this but I think it worked well - especially with the powerups. I wish there were some kind of checkpoints in the level as it was heart breaking to run out of time quite far into it because you didn't know which way to go on your first time.
As others have mentioned, the download link for the 64-bit version seems to be broken, but I was able to play the 32-bit version!
Fun series of "race-to-the-exit" challenges. Maybe I just need to "get good" but I did think that the fifth button (? the first one using the speed boost) was a bit of a difficulty spike -- and it's a bit annoying to get reset to start on every failure; maybe some checkpointing would make the challenge more enjoyable.
Also would be nice if there were some indicator as to how much time is left until your powerup runs out!
I like level design and gameplay! It feels very intense.
The tutorial made me think it was a simple game, but then the theme kicked in. Simple controls combined with 10 second sprints made this a good and exciting challenge.
Managed to play the 32-bit version!! Kudos on making a whole tutorial level. Also loved the character sprite. I didn't get that far in the actual game thou, wasn't as easy as I expected. Nice work overall!
Couldn't make it work on my pc :( ! Tried both versions to confirm it.
Really cool level design! The controls aren't that responsive, and sometimes you are penalized for going too fast (I was in my fastest run and suddenly the time went out). Overall is a cool game with great music :)
I like the use of the theme in the game, unfortunately I got stuck inside the wall while trying to press a red buttonScreenshot 2022-10-06 182836.png
Very cool take on the theme, very well executed game!
Now the main issue I see with this kind of game is that the player gets punished a lot. Failing a jump or ducking a bit too late usually means failing the "level", and thus having to start over from the beginning. Also, the fact that you cannot see the whole level makes it difficult to pass them on the first attempt. Here are some solutions I can think of: - When passing the door, pausing the game during 3 seconds and zooming out. That would allow the player to already figure out the solution instead of having to discover the level and figuring the solution at the same time. - Having some doors be checkpoints, so that you don't have to start over again and again.
The animation of the character is pretty well done. The ducking visuals could have been a bit more different than the standing one. The music worked pretty well, and I loved the nice little melodiy changing to the fast-paced one!
Good job ;)
Nice game ! The charged jump mechanic is original and the inclusion of a tutorial level is always a nice touch. I liked how Steve looks really old and can suddenly jump three times its height.
