Great storytelling!!! I loved all the clever little ways the plot unfolded naturally as I played.

Cozy game! Absolutely no mystery!

We love some good *deterior architecture*. I mean... *interior*.

I love the story telling you put together just from descriptions of rooms people want to live in. That takes some skilled writing to pull off, and you nailed it.

The way all the various objects begin to decay over time is really cool, and I like how they don't all decay at the same rate. Some objects are more rotten than others as time passes, which is a great touch. I'm awarding you the **Interior design used to be my passion back when we lived above ground** award:

This entry was very vibey. I spent a while decorating at first and then when I realized it was also kind of this take on a post-apocalyptic scenario I liked it even more. The atmosphere was awesome!

The rating system was also very interesting. And the fact things deteriorate over time was the icing on the cake. Very awesome!

Here is my house, dilapidated over time haha:

auuh that was excellent. Started really nice and cosy, set the tone and then gradually twisted it. Loved the ending, there was a surprising amount of atmopshere and narrative in such a contained game space. Really loved this, great work. Top marks from me.

Nice one!

I wish there were a bit more items to customize the room, or a bit more to the gameplay with evolving needs as the user(s) grow older, but given the number of variations you had to make for each asset, I can get it :D

The visuals work so well to represent the decaying of everything, but I especially loved the background music getting worse and worse with each level.

Very cool! Good job

the narration was such a surprise and well-paced, congratz!

I really loved the contrast between the high-tech promise of the NewHouse™ and the gradual reality of decay. It makes the passage of time feel incredibly tangible, even in a contained space. Very creative concept!

Well, that got dark. Decorating has never been my forte so I'm not surprised it went downhill. Really nice presentation!

Really beautiful graphics, quite good sound design and music! I gotta say, I got quite scared with what the said screenshots in the folder would be XD hesitated for a while to see them lmao! Quite scary game, really curious concept. Decorating felt nice, the new logo boucing like a DVD screen protector was a really cool visual flair! :) Overall a really nice entry, thank you for the game! 😄

There are so many great little details in this game that help tell the story. Here's a screenshot of the last room where I interpreted the "lock the doors" message maybe a bit too literally:

Added a bunch of doors to level 6

Two notes: - It took me a bit before I realized the beige looking thing next to the control hints was a delete button - It took me a while to realize what the "door" piece was supposed to be

I really enjoyed the narrative side to this. I am a fan of stories where you kind of infer something happening. The dying plants and torn walls definitely added to the experience. Congrats!

Starts out as a home designer, and turns into a kind of narrative game. The way the designs (and music) decay over time is really effective, and I love how all you get from the story are little snippets from people who just want some shelter, but it feels like you're a part of some much larger story.

My headcanon:

* 2100 - The world's surface has become inhospitable to life. Massive underground networks are constructed to house the remaining humans, but much of the world's technology is left behind when the doors to the surface are closed. * 2160 - Ludum Dare is on the news, and still going after 158 years. "Elephants in the Room" has finally been picked as the theme, and suddenly elephant statues are in high demand everywhere. * 2165 - The various systems keeping humans alive underground are starting to fail. Plants are wilting, and stores of food are running low. Two factions emerge: one that wants to breach the surface and attempt to restore lost human technology, and the other, which would rather live out their remaining days in peace, away from the sins of the past. * 2170 - The above ground faction opens the door to the surface, and leaves the undeground, never to return. The few who remain do what they can to survive. The final Ludum Dare is held this year. * 2185 - Long dormant computer systems from the surface turn on, and begin to slowly purge the underground of its infrastructure, along with any humans who remain inside. * 2190 - The last humans perish.

Such a cool game!

The art and music charmed me from the very first second. The sound design is fantastic, and the artwork makes you want to take screenshots (oh, right, the game even has a feature for that!!).

Gameplay-wise, I would have liked slightly clearer objectives in the second half.

And story-wise, I was really hoping for a powerful final payoff. You’re so close, just give it that last little push!

Thank you, I had a wonderful time playing your game <3

Man, I really like the mechanic of redesigning a house for new tenants—the way you tailor it to their specific needs.

But my favorite part is the stage where the house is still half-abandoned.

Also, in my opinion, the amount of furniture is already close to perfect—it doesn't feel cluttered. That said, adding a few more pieces would offer even more creative variety.

Ha, very funny game. I loved the escalation happening in the background. I clocked out at 4.3 average in the end, I didn't make a very inviting home in the second level and didn't seem to do that well in the final levels (but notice all the doors! Should be one satisfied customer slash survivor)

Level6.png

Looking at the other screenshots, there really is no resisting the urge to place little elephants around, is there? But yeah, very fun game, I enjoyed the creative outlet of designing a little house up to specs gameplay-wise. There was a real sense of development as the functionality of some rooms stayed the same (the top room HAS to be the boss' bedroom) and some rooms changed (bottom room is either the packed-like-sardine room, the guest room or the kitchen, it's just that versatile). The progression of the items looks great as well, it's super cool to flip through the final screenshots (another great idea) and see the progression of them all falling apart. Same with the music, that also slowly whithers as everything falls apart. Super good game, great job!

I put my playthrough of your game on YouTube!

Probably like a lot of people, I spent a lot of time on the first house, didn't really know what to expect. Very clever with the implied storytelling, and you created a really specific vibe with the music and the way everything degrades. Nice job! 😄
