Well crafted! Changing orientation randomly is a cool twist
Very simple and good game
Very cute! I see you've met my cat too. Great work :)
I like that the tutorial is immediately a game! Thought I was about to read the controls there, instead I immediately understood how it worked
Sudden changes of playfield caught me off guard, at first I thought I was doing something wrong. Cool game, keep it up!
ooOH the random turning of playing board is. super cool. definitely a fun concept
Fun game. Congratz for the work. I liked the twist with the orientation. 😁
It appears the only unstability is the orientation which is triggered on some point. Contrast to other games I've played from this jam, this one is pretty stable. Some levels don't rotate at all.
Nice art !
Fun, simple, and didn't overstay its welcome! Pretty perfectly paced in terms of both length and difficulty.
@nick-barrash @ty @dekajoo Thanks, I'm glad to see that the mechanics is fun :)
@fabernull Thanks, a story with a cat is always a good story x)
@wafflecomposite Thank you. To be honest, the tutorial levels were the first levels of my game... But because it was too easy, I decided to change it in the tutorial phase
@bloodbane Yes I tried to add the "unstable" concept with several mechanics: the airship is always moving and the rotation of the map. But yes, the theme is maybe not enough used in some levels.
@vishwah @ucsbdad thanks for your kind comments :)
Cool game, I enjoyed it! I wonder if there's a way to make the sudden level rotations a bit less frustrating, while still keeping them disorienting in a way that adds challenge. I died a good couple of times when the level rotated and I was directly an enemy directly with not enough time to react, which didn't seem fair.
Thanks for your comment @itsmebutsolo
Yes it was already a problem I found in the previous version during development and I tried to deal with it by increasing the time the rotation appears. Maybe adding a stop or slow motion during the effect will avoid this kind of frustration...
Neat little game, got myself and the cat back home safely, now he can pee in his litterbox again, and i dont need to worry about getting killed!
Played the HTML version, enjoyable, clean and simple, even popped a "tutorial" in there, even though it was just some simple levels introducing all the obstacles one by one. Wished there where some text to go along with it, but it was a nice introduction at least. The sound work is solid, pretty neat soundtrack.
Not sure if there's supposed to be any consequences when hitting the different colored planets/moons, but they had no effect on me at least, not sure if i just managed to avoid them like a true Alpha male with my superior arrow-key hitting skills during my playthrough(i did use the yellow ones as pit-stops while crusin the galaxy), but i tested the red ones in the tutorial after i finished the game, and , nothing.
This was nice space trip!
Game looks good, music sounds nice gameplay is fine well... well done :)
I still have a few comments/suggestions for improvement though:
- Knowing where you are after a rotation is a *real* challenge. And it is quite annoying. I would suggest having a transition rather than a frame to frame direct change. I could be the board rotating over time or something. My main point is that, in order not to "lose yourself" you have to be able to continuously see your ship during the rotation. I understand that it would make movements a bit harder maybe, but this is something for you to figure out :) - Movement directions after a rotation is incorrect. For instance, my ship is moving towards the north (up), then after a rotation the north ends up where south was (so the opposite), then my ship is still going up thus opposite to the north. So after a rotation directions should be preserved. Maybe this was done on purpose but it made me go nuts ^^ - Not a fan of the story but whatever ^^'
Well done once again!
Nice job! Thats the kind of game that I like to play on game jams hahaha =D
Good job on the submission. It took me a while to realise that the screen rotate. Initially I thought I was moved to a new map. I think that can be better explained I think.
I also feel that the mechanic can be further explored with new type of obstacle but I guess that's for the future =).
Thanks for the game !.
Nice mecanics, played more than a few rounds.
Very simple idea. My only criticism would be that having the earlier enemies be (seemingly) completely random makes it very difficult to balance. I had runs that were impossible until I got lucky and managed to take a straight line to the exit. Good game otherwise
@kekkodude Yes, there is no difference between the colors ... I just started to create the big shape of a level with yellow, then I use red to add more obstacles but I can understand that this kind of design can lead to a misunderstanding ... Thanks for the interesting comment :)
@wafflesys Thank you ^^ I agree, I was not really inspired for the story x)
@henriquecanella @stoickekis @rustywolf Thank you
@zwodahs Yes I probably need to add more visual explanation on the map rotation :)
This game masters disorienting the player in a non-punishing manner! That's not to say it's not hindering, quite to the contrary, but I never played a game that makes disorientation a core mechanic without it becoming very annoying - absolutely inspiring!
Very interesting, very puzzle of a small game, at the same time very test operation ability!Great music and art, cool!
Looks good, simple game with classic controls but it works. Screen rotation confuse me a lot and it take few rounds to understand what's happen ^^
(Bonjour d'Oniro ^^ j'ai trouvé le lien du jeu depuis le discord)
You have a nice game mechanic for the theme, I think you could have created a few more puzzles with that idea.
It was not easy to figure out what to do at first, and the level bigger than a screen in the last levels was a bit annoying.
The visuals and audio are really good!
Nice enry !
edit: you say that music is made by you but you opted-out of the category?
@rolly Thank you for your comment :) About the music, I made it a few years ago and the sound effects are not mine, that's why I opted-out of the audio category.
I really like the movement mechanic - it plays out very well!
I really appreciate the feelings when you move your character. The music are really nice, and playing your game is funny. Good job.
Got caught out a few times with the glitching/jumping. It's not always easy to spot where you are before you hit something or it hits you.
Beautiful graphics and great atmosphere! I really liked the intro! <3
Nice game. Easy to understand concept and I love the inclusion of a short tutorial. The complete randomness of the orientation switches always caught me off guard though, maybe you could have added a short warning before the orientation changes, something like "solar storm detected, navigation may encounter problems".
Cool game, took me a couple of switches to figure out what was happening but cool mechanic.
Weird but interesting game. I think I understood the rules, but then sometimes the level refreshed randomly. I thought I died. After reading the comments I realised that the level rotated. I'm not sure I understand the game at all :D The art of the ships is nice, but the other stuff is a bit lacking. Music and sounds were good. Well done!
Nice work! The rotated level is interesting and reasonable about the theme.
