very cool game for 3 days!

yoshify 2020-04-21 08:50

Get crazy civilization vibes from this. Surprisingly nicely polished for 3 days. Thanks for the game!

demontoon 2020-04-21 08:51

I love the idea ! The execution is great but more feedbacks on de spawnrate and a tutorial would be appreciated :)

Congrat's guys !

pushkan 2020-04-21 08:52

oh my gosh. Looks like game for 2 years of development! I played game like this irl. Name - Carcassonne. Good job guys!

lintfordpickle 2020-04-21 08:53

I like the concept and found the UI and graphics very clean and pleasant. There were a few places where on screen help would have been appreciated (for example, to explain why the tiles seem to rotate sometimes), and I couldn't find a quit button.

Even if you don't want to be rated for sound, I think some stock background 'calm' music would really help improve the game further.

fictions 2020-04-21 09:01

I love board games  I realy enjoy the art and the overall game feel. Amazing Job!

desertmawtobi 2020-04-21 09:02

very beautiful game (in comparison to many others) for a 3 day game. Also nice game idea

tommeh 2020-04-21 09:06

Very clean and polished. Impressive work.

simansimon 2020-04-21 09:06

Fantastic game! Graphics are great, content and the gameplay is fun, and it has a nice flow. I could play this all day, honestly. It's really nicely polished, overall a perfect game for relaxing

dahoon-studios 2020-04-21 09:09

nice game. I liked the intuitive gameplay and the pace a lot. Keep up the good work

koro-games 2020-04-21 09:13

Wow! This game looks like more than a game jam thing

jakemchugh1 2020-04-21 09:18

this game is stunnung

dxk2294 2020-04-21 09:20

Wow! Phenomenally gorgeous, reminds me of Carcassonne. I had some issues with my ultrawide monitor, I couldn't see the quests at the top of the screen. Even still, I had lots of fun just placing tiles and building out my little city. Great game!

solarliner 2020-04-21 09:23

The art is on point. It feels very cozy!

wet-band-aid 2020-04-21 09:25

Fantastic! I'm gonna be playing this game for a while. Very strategic and loads of fun!

timbaleek 2020-04-21 09:27

Wow, I loved it! Really fun relaxing game. Basically carcasonne the boardgame but with hexagons. The graphics are beautiful, the atmosphere is calm, the missions nice and simple but still spice it up enough so you have to place tiles carefully. Especially the missions with "build 11 villages" are interesting because you can't just build one huge village. Great polish and very nice game

riccastudio 2020-04-21 09:28

Good Game for 3 Days but i would have liked a visual Tutorial or Info Screen. Keep up the good work!

koemeterion 2020-04-21 09:28

Beautiful game! Its missing sounds and music, thats for sure. But its fun and I really hope you keep working on it. I can see a game for 5$ here if its feature complete, bring in a few more quests or gamemodes.

What happend to me was I got a tile I couldnt place anywhere (the traintrack in all directions). So I lost, but the game didnt recognized that.

Really nice game!

effarek 2020-04-21 09:29

What a great game ! I really loved it, it took me just one game to understand the mechanics and it is really good. Very sad that there isn't any music because it would have been perfect. There may be a bit too much railroads, I started drawing things on a corner of the board with my unused ones ^^'

baohongjiang 2020-04-21 09:33

The artistic style is great! You must have spent most of your time creating assets. Unfortunately, there is a lack of sound effects.

manyqaz 2020-04-21 09:33

Fantastic game, the graphics look like they could have been designed by any AAA developer and the gameplay was superb and it was so satisfying to play. Ngl this is the best game I have played over the two latest Ludum Dares. I almost got the feeling that you have cheated in some way. I did not instantly understand the game when I first played it and I didn't know why I lost but once I understood railway tiles it was a lot of fun to play, untill I realised it was a bit too easy and I tired of it after reaching (not to brag but) a score of 222. At that point it didn't really feel like I could lose but if you either make the game harder or add more content as the game progresses I think this game could be really good. I seriously think you guys should spend some more time with this and develop it in to a real game, after adding sound of course.

gucio-miszcz 2020-04-21 09:51

Very good game, with perfect graphics and mechanics. The only minus is that it is too easy - got to score above 400 with over 200 pieces left. Could not end even with random placing each piece. Anyway it is addictive 5 star game :)

egos 2020-04-21 09:52

really nice entrie , the tiles and experience is clean i had fun with it the sensation of creating a land is her

just one thing i only understood the extra tiles principle after my first game maybe highlght this feature more than just the pile size with a pop up or something because i pass my first game with the fealing that i cant lose ;)

and a restart button i replay it with pleasure

best score 309

vidarn 2020-04-21 09:56

What a sweet and relaxing game! I loved building these gorgeous landscapes. I think the quests gave you just enough direction while still letting you build the way you wanted. This is definitely a game I will be coming back to, great job!

By the way, I played the Mac version and it worked fine :)

yazara 2020-04-21 10:04

@manyqaz Thanks a ton for the kind words and the suggestions! We're currently deciding which game we want to develop to a full release from the different prototypes we made, this is a serious contender :)

And I ensure you we made this complete game within the last three days, below is a glimpse of our ideation board ;)

staircase27a 2020-04-21 10:09

I really enjoyed this and definitely got distracted playing for quite a while.

Would be nice for something to happen if you loose (i.e. a message of some form) and some way to restart and try again.

A little more help/instructions could have been useful and possibly a way to make the tile swap between it's alternate version quicker (mainly for railway lines). Also, personally, the forest highlight and fields colours and are little hard to tell if zoomed out to get an overview of a large map.

Eventually it gets a bit silly as you are getting 5 (or so) achievements in a row whenever you complete one as it gives you too easy challenges next. Might want to skip too easy challenges as otherwise the tile stack grows enormous and you lose any risk of losing. Still fun to try and achieve the challenges however event without the risk.

yazara 2020-04-21 10:53

@staircase27a Thanks a lot for the great feedback! Skipping quests that are too easy is a good idea. The other points are good as well, we will see what we can do for a post jam version :)

draelent 2020-04-21 11:32

The fact that things like roads snap together is simply awesome, and I thought i was stuck several times but I eventually received pieces with 3 roads or an end of road and it was a pleasure to fill it in. Great feeling overall

laveilleusegraphique 2020-04-21 13:03

The graphics are super polished for a LD! What an amazing job! It makes me think about dominoes. As an evolution, you can perhaps add some rules about landscape compatibility? Could be fun :)

fazz 2020-04-21 13:12

This is lovely looking! I love a Catan / Carcassone; although similar in aesthetic this plays quite differently. A few ambient sfx and some escalation in difficulty - maybe a multiplayer mode - I would buy this!

oneils 2020-04-21 16:33

Well done! It´s realy fun and relaxing to build my own landscape with those nicely designed tiles. I think it is worth it, to extend it by new sorts of tiles and features. It only seams a bit to easy right now. :)

fabian-g 2020-04-21 17:22

Uah, nice game :-D super pretty too

phantom-lab 2020-04-21 17:36

I totally love the carcassonne mechanic. Absolutely ingenious!

maaxoom 2020-04-21 17:43

Hey boys! Awesome style and graphics. I really got into a chilled mood, very relaxing gameplay. Could be a bit closer to the theme in my opinion but great work y'all!!

selftitled 2020-04-21 19:19

What a good looking game, love the art. The relaxed feel of the game is great. I had no idea what was meant by "group" at first, maybe that needs to be clearer. Overall a very good entry.

nerwerder 2020-04-21 21:08

Hey, the Game looks great but sadly on my Screen there seems to be a Problem with the Scaling:

dorfromantik.PNG

My Resolution is 3840x1600. Is there a way to start the Game in Window-Mode?

sigod 2020-04-21 23:31

On my screen (5120x1440), I cannot even see "to do" UI. That's what I managed to build blindly: Screenshot 2020-04-22 01.51.32_tiny.png (The screenshot is downscaled because of the site's limits.)

Requested by a friend: It would be cool if most tiles had restrictions on how they have to be placed related to other tiles.

lauchsuppe 2020-04-22 03:06

Enjoyed playing this a lot! Great job guys!! Was just a little sad that I ran out of cards at the end dorf.png

kiln 2020-04-22 07:46

Gorgeous game! Gives me Settlers of Catan vibes which is a game I absolutely adore. I can't wait to see what this game becomes!

yazara 2020-04-22 10:28

@nerwerder @sigod Thanks a lot for the feedback! I updated the build to support widescreen displays, so give it another try if you like :)

patsui 2020-04-22 16:27

Great art and polished implementation, but misses the theme and has no sound.

I didn't find the goals very engaging, so maybe give those more spice with story. :)

sigod 2020-04-22 21:35

@yazara Thank you.

My score: Screenshot 2020-04-23 00.28.18_tiny.png It doesn't get hard enough over time. I had to corner myself to fail.

acgaudette 2020-04-22 22:13

solid art direction, great work there! the core loop feels rushed and needs tuning--I played for quite a while and felt like I was on autopilot the whole time. a deeper inspection of your constraints might work to your benefit here in order to offer more tradeoffs and challenges per turn. on the other hand, the creative element to building your own world and using the goals as a jump off point seems promising and I would love to see more of that if you can expand the emergent properties of the tiles. excited to see where this goes and keep up the good work.

pee-thief 2020-04-23 05:31

gorgeous colors. the board feels very nicely tactile. very pleasant!

icarustyler 2020-04-23 11:02

This is lovely! Love how the train-tracks fit together :)

deathstorm 2020-04-23 18:28

An interesting Game.

Maybe some better indicator would be more interesting. And one or two more types of tiles.

But in general a nice Game and well Done. Good Work

cadstor 2020-04-23 20:20

The combination of graphics and music with sound effects is very good. I really like this kind of games, it doesn't seem like a jam game.

rexagon 2020-04-24 10:29

Looks great. Awesome work for 3 days!

rolly 2020-04-24 11:22

Definitely the best visuals I've seen in this jam, probably in any jam ! Good job on that. It's really sad that there is no relaxing music included in the game to create an awesome mood.

The game mechanics are quite simple yet kept me focused and wanting to continue!

I wish the todo's got more difficult sooner in the game. At some point I just decided to focus on building a beautiful scenery rather than going for the objectives until I eventually lost. A finish screen would have been nice!

I can't really see any connexion with the theme. Did you decide to put it aside or do you have an interpretation of it that I'm missing?

Thanks for the experience, great entry !

trigueiro 2020-04-24 11:50

Reminds me of Carcassone

firellon 2020-04-24 19:43

That would be a beautiful board game!

Very easy to learn, could be hard to master with additional of other hex types as well as more complicated goals!

All the best wishes for the rating!

linluk 2020-04-24 21:29

incredibly well made, absolutely love the concept!

maytch 2020-04-25 08:55

Well made fun game with great graphics. Definitely something to take forwards post-jam.

yazara 2020-04-25 10:09

@rolly Thanks for your feedback! :)

Regarding the disconnect to the theme: We started thinking about "keep it alive" in regards of keeping a civilisation alive. But after a while we fell in love with the tile placing mechanic and the setting, so we decided to prioritize simplicity and mechanics over the theme. Especially since we're also looking for a game we want to develop in a larger scale in the future. The theme was more of an inspiration to us that lead to the idea we realised in the end.

So now our connection with the theme is more of a "keep it going" ;)

rolly 2020-04-25 12:29

@yazara Ok thanks for the explaination. I'm glad that you didn't try too hard to stick to the theme ; I did that once and it became a game mechanic totally out of place. Your game is really great as is, and who cares about the theme when in the end you created such a great product. I now follow you, please let us know if you keep working on this game, I would definitely want to see more of it!

zwi-zausch 2020-04-25 13:15

@firellon Hey, thanks so much! We had many things in mind, which we had to cut because of the time limitations, but you never know ;)

zwi-zausch 2020-04-25 13:18

@Rolly thanks for your kind words! We also think that a "free-building-mode" would be awesome, and generally feel like things would have to be rebalanced or rethought in case we continue work on this.

zwi-zausch 2020-04-25 13:51

@acgaudette thanks so much for the solid feedback! We recently uploaded a slightly rebalanced build which is a bit harder and gives feedback on your progression in the goals (e.g 5/8 houses etc) We are definitely thinking in several directions and where to take this. It was definitely a more complex system than we thought at the beginning, and balancing takes a lot of time as i am sure you know. :)

zwi-zausch 2020-04-25 13:54

@laveilleusegraphique Thank you! Yes some of the rules would need to be made more clear, you are right. ther are several directions in which one could take this system, for now no decisions were made on that, but you never know ;)

pythooonuser 2020-04-26 10:31

Very nice game! Good job with the different tile configurations that adjust to their neighbors. If would love to see a devlog of some sorts about that :) Sounds could have added so much more atmosphere, though.

attala 2020-04-28 15:54

I really enjoyed this game. The graphics are very nice. The gameplay is innovative and fun. I forgot to put on some soothing music in the background so I was missing sound/music. Solid submission!

gurkenlabs 2020-04-28 17:50

Congratulations on the art direction for this game - it looks so gorgeous! The gameplay was very satisfying and soothing, but would have greatly benefited from some audio. Also, some sort of intro and outro would be nice.

avi 2020-04-29 14:03

This game is so relaxing and fun once you get the hang of it. (BTW I played it on my mac and had no issues with it in case you needed mac testers)

vesper 2020-04-30 21:25

I love this so much. Just a gorgeous little game, and really easy to get caught up in. Some sound aspects would have been a nice way to add atmosphere, but I just played music in the background which was fun in its own way. I was blown away by how beautiful and adaptive the tiles were. You guys did great work.

I would like to note that on the Mac version at least, everything ran fine, but there was no way to exit the game. I had to use a keyboard shortcut and force quit when I wanted to close the window (or restart), so some basic functionality there would be nice. But overall this was great, and I played through way too many times trying to see what sort of landscape I could create. Would love to see it developed further. Very nicely done.

papaver 2020-05-02 15:02

Nice game! The graphics are nice, and I just put on some Philip Glass music in the background. :)

At the start, I wanted to rotate the tiles, and match up the tiles like carcassonne (field to field, etc), but apparently, most tiles fit anywhere, except for train rails. Speaking of which, I was very confused by how the tiles with train rails are changing form all the time.

The selection tool to select trees/fields/villages was useful.

I played for quite a while, but after a while the goals became somewhat repetitive. (I forced an end with 203 points).

I am curious to see how the game will develop. Well done!

hgcummings 2020-05-02 22:01

Absolutely love the art style of this. The graphics are really polished and wouldn't look out of place in a commercial game.

I like the core mechanic. I find that part of the joy of these kinds of tile-laying games is building neat little layouts while also meeting the goals of the game. I couldn't see a way to rotate tiles before placing them, which would have helped with this.

Also, the rewards for building disconnected groups of trees/houses/fields encouraged spreading out the tiles a lot more, which made things look less neat. It would be nice to have a way to split up groups without having to do this. Perhaps the railway lines could count as dividers, like roads in Carcassonne divide fields? (In fact, I couldn't work out whether the railway lines had any functional significance at all; they didn't seem to, although I like the way they looked in the game).

Overall I really enjoyed it though. Just a few mechanical tweaks and a nice soundtrack would make this into an excellent game.

alexey-kuzovkov 2020-05-03 08:24

Please tell me how to stop playing this beautiful game! This game is a gem!

greendinogames 2020-05-04 14:46

That's an impressive game! I like the details for example the railroads, how they rotate depending on what tile you connect them to. It looks already very polished but I hope you continue working on it!

ivan643 2020-05-04 17:04

127 points, my record. It is very cool! Something like "Islanders". A few more improvements, and I would buy it. (Sound, and progression to cities of course ... plus bonuses for connecting cities by trains. There may also be tiles that change old ones.)

However, you do not need my advice)))

rednaxelus 2020-05-04 20:03

It looks real nice

flynn 2020-05-08 02:44

just wow! It is such an incredible game in just 3 days. Lovely artstyle. even small details like little animation when the tiles are being put done are just right. With some bgm and sound effect and more game progression, it will definitely be a game worth publishing.

macrovin 2022-02-28 16:00

I like it very much. [Spider Solitaire 2 Suit](https://spider2suit.com) is a card game in which you must use two decks of cards.

viomaximus 2022-11-17 07:43

Continue to provide informative and engaging articles. I like reading what you've written, and I'm quite pleased with your website's general quality. If it's okay with you, let's play [rolling ball 3d](https://rollingball3d.com) a highly popular ball-rolling game that is played and shown by everyone.
