It looks really great!
This is pretty fun, love how easy it is to switch frames of reference.
A really interesting idea. Playing while fixing the machine might prevent you from enjoying the game fully, but it definitely adds a lot of tension. The scene is also very immersive. Often, you get so caught up in playing that you forget to repair, or so focused on repairing that you forget to play pinball. But later on, there's just no time to fix anything—the machine keeps burning and you can't put it out. Overall, the whole process is really fun, and the scene is very well created. (Attached is a screenshot showing how overwhelmed I was with repairs—this place is basically hell!)386b12c436e0206a490e0c7d02a48ba9.pngc89fda2f556cd83747b351ad4fe85147.png
This was really enjoyable actually! I wasn't sure how the repairing would combine with actually playing pinball, but I think it worked really well due to how fast you can actually swap camera views and spam hammer on the failing parts.
I would love a few more things in the pinball machine itself, as the red bumbers and yellow sides are kind of all there is. But also for how much time we had to do the Compo, the current machine and game is very polished (you even added screen shake, which is great!)
Really nice one all around here!
This was a pretty fun game, multitasking to fix after launching a ball made this is a pretty cool skill-based game. I do wish it tracked your high score between games, as it seems it only shows the latest run. Was a fun experience!
Fun little game. I like the detail, that the controls are explained on the side of the machine itself. :)
As @william-corrin mentioned having some more elements in the pinball machine itself would be great or maybe playing with two balls at once or stuff like that.
The audio is fitting and I like the visual feedback you get, when you get an electric shock. Congrats for finishing your project. :)
For a compo game this is an amazing result! The repairing process is greatly integrated into the gameplay, and thank godness it is because, at the end, it's absolutely overwhelming. Loved the idea and had a nice time playing!
I lasted just over 3 minutes before the repairs got too out of hand. Great stuff, it was nice to play something arcadey. The recorded sound effects added to the authenticity - well done!
Great compo game. It was a fun combination of ideas. The controls are well designed. It was intuitive and easy to get the hang of it. The difficulty scaling felt a little steep. I was doing fine and then suddenly, everything was breaking all at once and I was dead before I knew it! But overall, an excellent compo entry. Well done!
Really well made!! I enjoyed playing this. I've always enjoyed pinball (even though my skills with it is a bit lousy) and it now has more fun with the repairs!! The fire reminds me not to fall too deep into the pinball game, but to watch out for the components. It is fun to alternate between repair and gaming, great idea to do that! The 3d camera movement is also smooth and overall graphics really fitting to the theme.
An unusual and interesting idea
An original but relatively simple idea, well executed. Which is probably the ideal combination. Great stuff!
The concept of forcing the player to juggle frantic pinball action with urgent component repair is brilliant. That sudden shift in focus from arcade chaos to careful tinkering adds a unique and wonderful layer of stress to the gameplay.
Sorry I couldn't enjoy the game as much as the others did (I've never been good at pinball to be honest). I got a score of ten and lasted 3 minutes. But I liked the juice.
Ah, the old bang on things technique to fix them. Tried the web version first but the low framerate takes some fun and challenge away. Definitely worth downloading instead for a smoother experience.
Great compo game. It was a fun combination of ideas. The controls are well designed.
That was hilarious! I honestly wasn't expecting it to be that much fun to hit the parts with the hammer and then just go back to playing pinball 😆 Great game idea!
Neat take on the theme! Don't think I've seen anything like it so far.
The game is great and the concept interesting
Super fun concept! The repairing while the ball is going is very hectic in a good way, especially because while looking at the lower panel you can see the shadow of the ball still. Great work for the compo! Unfortunately in the web version for some reason I did not accumulate any score so I had to imagine the score but thankfully pinball on its own is itself fun and motivating. Fun game!
Cool idea. Hitting something with a hammer is always the best way to extinguish fires. I had some trouble with the controls. I kept failing to get back out of the machine to play pinball again as I kept wanting to press the opposite direction to escape rather than the same button again.
I enjoyed this, I am pretty impressed with how smooth and enjoyable the actual recreation of a pinball table was. The fixing mid game is interesting but I wish there was a way to slow or suspend the ball on the table, to make fixes, rather than hope to get back to the table view in time.
Nice entry. Playing pinball is guaranteed fun and it was fun to see the ball from the bottom camera. The window was too wide for my screen so I wasn't able to see everything i.e. UI on the right side.
The music was supporting the mood nicely.
Well done!
What a nice idea! Who doesn't love playing pinball :)
The concept of combining classic arcade pinball with an emergency component-repair simulation is absolutely brilliant! Rubbing and smashing burning coils with a hammer while keeping an eye on the ball creates such an awesome, high-tension risk-reward dynamic for a Compo entry.
I'm currently on Linux and couldn't easily test the build directly, but I spent a lot of time analyzing your gameplay loop, screenshots, and dev details. The attention to detail is staggering — using actual recorded audio samples from a vintage physical Williams Smart Set pinball machine adds a monumental layer of authenticity and pure old-school juice! The 3D view-switching between the board and the cabinet looks incredibly smooth, and the screen shake adds so much impact.
Left very high ratings based on your stellar theme interpretation, innovative loop, and fantastic audio design! If you get a second between fixing those relays, I'd be absolutely honored if you could check out my retro-tech ASMR cleaning game too. Good luck with the voting stage! 📺🔨👾✨
For me the ball fell through the middle with no way to stop it quite often. But other than that it was enjoyable. Whacking the coils with a hammer to fix them was fun.
Interesting idea. I think it's a bit overwhelming when you need to repair the machine while there's still a ball in play. Maybe there could be a smaller view or similar of the pinball game like a picture-in-picture mode while being under the hood of the machine to repair it?
The sounds are really nice. I think the only thing missing for the classical pinball experience is a visible spring to load for firing the ball. Minor detail though. So nice job!
You’ve done a great job combining repair mechanics with pinball. The sounds are really punchy. Well done.
I liked it, the audio's great especially: the cheesy midi song + all the sound effects. Felt like the penalty for losing a ball was pretty minor, but whatever.
Interesting take on making pinball more complex, really impressive that it was made in such a short time. As for the gameplay: I'd say I missed having clearer progress feedback - earning points, maybe some streaks instead of just a final score, since the objective wasn't entirely clear other than endlessly maintaining hp. Also, it would be cool to add some variety to repairing, maybe different tools or minigames for different modules. Other than that - good job, I enjoyed playing it!
Fun game. It took a bit to figure it out, but that's normal (not bad). The only thing I thought was odd and a little frustrating was that it went from not a lot of burning relays, and then out of nowhere like five were on fire and I couldn't fix them, and then I would die. The game was quite creative and it had good game play. Although it was a little hard to play while trying to fix the relays. I wish you had added some sort of objective (like >40 points and you win or something), because only playing for a score felt like it had no point. I liked the sound effects and it fit the theme. I enjoyed playing, good job!
Very cool idea, lovely concept for the theme and just a fun gameplay idea as well. I think the scoring system should have been bigger tho! Number go up! Kind of like an actual pinball machine and I think all it would have needed for some people to get a sense of completion would have been rating their score: Poor / Bad / Good / Amazing. Sounds were really well done and the web build actually ran pretty well for me.
This was a stressful game to play. I tried to just mash the paddles while I was doing repairs but it was really no use. Maybe I'm too slow with the mouse but I basically couldn't do repairs without giving up my ball. In any case, despite the skill issues, I had a lot of fun with this game. The music and sounds worked really well. The graphics were a bit simple and that might be an area for more polish. Thanks for sharing this.
I kept trying to see if I could cradle the ball in the flipper while activated but its momentum just kept carrying it over... 😅 Would be great to see this mashup explored a bit further! It could be interesting if repairs get you money which allows you to add more bumpers and such to the pinball machine to help you juggle the ball.
Cool game, the pinball game itself works very well and is pleasant to play!
I struggled a bit with the controls, maybe W to zoom in the top pane, S to zoom in the bottom pane, and another key to go back to the pinball screen would have made more sense to me.
The 3d pinball is really well modelled, and I loved the background musics and sound effects. The smooth camera transition to show the how to play is a very nice touch!
Good job!
