Beautiful game. I love the whole concept and execution, it plays fantastically. The only complaint I have is that I can't move fast enough. The rest is incredible!

microwerx 2018-04-24 06:05

Interesting concept. The game doesn't seem to follow the described mechanics. You keep shooting them and they stop. If you walk over them, sometimes they disappear, sometimes they don't. I really enjoyed the music. It had an M. Ward feel.

estacaomarte 2018-04-24 08:52

@microwerx Thanks for the input ;) The idea is for you to step on the colored puzzle floor tile that appears after you hit the walking puzzle piece that has the same color (Note* Just changed the description to better clarify) :) We're finishing another version with the propper UI, points, store, etc !!

estacaomarte 2018-04-24 09:02

@nardandas Glad to hear that you liked it, we're having fun completing the concept, we hope you have the opportunity to try out the improved version, hope to get it out until tomorrow! About the speed, I think we can fix that :), thanks for the advice

microwerx 2018-04-24 16:03

I tried it again. And this makes a lot more sense. I did notice that if you shoot the red guy and the green guy at the beginning of the game, and then step only on the green piece that the red piece never goes away. Also, if you leave the red guy alone, then you have one remaining piece that never seems to come. Is that intended? I upped my rating a slight bit now to account for my user error. 😀

estacaomarte 2018-04-24 17:38

@microwerx Thanks for the input again :D we hope to get those fixes out !!

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 00:02

@microwerx We have a new version for you :D

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 00:02

Please try it out again ;)!!

ctran13 2018-04-27 02:12

interesting concept. it took a few tries before i really understood what was going on. Clearer instructions would be nice. But fun overall!

talonos 2018-04-27 02:27

Hey, glad I got to play this for you on stream! This was definitely a fun game and thought the way you dealt killing blow to puzzle pieces was an interesting mechanic. I felt I had too many coins even with reloading, so maybe there is a way to balance that or consider alternatives to how ammo works. Finally, awesome job on the music, it looped well, wasn't distracting, and added to the overall experience :)

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 13:38

@ctran13 Thanks for the advice, next update we're gonna add a better UI, with instructions and other content overall ;) We still have things we would like to do before leaving this game in a stable and finished V1.0! Glad you liked it <3

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 13:39

@Talonos Thank you for playing it on your stream, like i said, its always enjoyable to see other people playing our games :) Hope to do minor bug fixes and add more content to the game that will stabilize the win-lose balance of the game!

balladofsong 2018-04-27 18:55

Good concept! I enjoyed playing.

teklarit 2018-04-27 21:15

Fun to play. Nice idea!

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 22:02

@BalladofSong thanks for the comments :v:

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 22:02

@Teklarit really glad u liked it, we had tones of fun doing it :) even with day work in the middle, it was a really nice experience! More game jams to come!!

beebo-studios 2018-04-27 22:52

Made it to wave 25 with a score of 3130 (if anyone wants to compare).

Delightful little game! The game plays really well and the cute graphics and great music kept me engaged throughout! At one point I thought I'd quit because the puzzlers would never fill all my tiles, but just then the difficulty ramped up again. The money scaled quite fast so reloading was no issue at all in the later game. Maybe you could adjust the value or add some different money based powerups that would keep the player engaged even longer.

But all in all a great job, have a fish for your effort <3 🐟

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 22:57

@beebo-studios Thank you for your kind comment :) We're still calling it V0.8 because we actually have some mechanics to workout before we move on from this little game ;) Be tuned for more updates! Really happy that you enjoyed it! <3

serpentworks-games 2018-04-27 23:01

Neat little game! The WebGL had some control issues where I'd get stuck in one direction or the other until I pressed another button, but it wasn't too bad. The game does get repetitive after a while, but it's otherwise got a fun concept behind it.

Well done!

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 23:21

@serpentworks-games Thanks for the comments :) Happy you had fun! About the bug, I think it has to doo with the fact Itch.io recomends WebGL builds for Unity versions < 5.6.3, and a funny thing is that I only noticed that bug on chrome while hosting it on itch :/ tryed it with firefox and edge and had no problem! Something to lookout for!

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 23:22

Another thing is that we have some hidden UI that would add more functionalities to the game, we're still on it, we want to end our little creation :)

ente 2018-04-27 23:39

nice game. the music is pretty nice and fun and I like the concept. It would be pretty cool to have a high score list for a game like this ;)

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 23:42

@Ente Every comment counts :D! Well, I have a old raspberry working here, maybe I'll set up a little server and DB there just to throw your amazing scores there :P We'll first finish adding all the content and functionalities we first thought about, fix some minors bugs and then its an ideia !! <3

estacaomarte 2018-04-27 23:44

I'll have to tweak the formulas and values to better balance the game! This will be affected by some content we still want to had :) Imagine this .... "POWERUPS", "BARRICADES" !! XD We have a white board with some drawings on it :)

caleblewis 2018-04-27 23:56

I like the idea of an "anti-puzzle" where you have to prevent a puzzle from being completed, it's an interesting concept! I especially like how you made the menu interactive. I'd love to see where this concept could be taken with some more depth in the mechanics

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 00:08

@CalebLewis Thanks for the great comment Caleb! Yes, we want to still add more content to the game. Its our little creation and we want to call it V1.0 when we have all of our ideias integrated there! Leaderboards, Powerups, More Levels (Funny think is that its allready procedural generated so we can make tones of differente maps, size, shapes, u name it!), More Enemies (Every value of speed, hit, damage is a parameter, the sky is the limit!), More Tools (There's a hidden UI in the game, and there are still more 3 tools besides the GLUE :3, u'll love it!)

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 00:09

A little hint on their shapes: Its a pencil, a rubber and a scissor :P So add this to the glue, and imagine what can be done ;)!

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 00:11

@CalebLewis The ideia behing the begin menu is to give a different view of the game mechanics without telling the user how to do it directly, if you want to play you have to try, and by trying you directly understand what you have to do throughout the game :)

goplite 2018-04-28 00:23

Nice game, unusual concept, pretty addictive too. I like how game gets progressively harder. Nice programmer art.

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 00:26

@Goplite Thanks for the comment <3 Will still tweak the formulas behind it and make the speed, damage values, hit damage, fall time, many more things a little more dynamic ;)

megrabbit 2018-04-28 02:27

One of the best games I've tried so far. It needs a bit of polish to make it more intuitive, but the game's got a lot of potential, and it's a truly unique concept. Nice job!

n00b 2018-04-28 03:33

The art in this game was pretty good. However I kept having this problem where the game would crash after walking over a puzzle piece.

ninjascribble 2018-04-28 04:27

Nice job! I wasn't quite sure what I supposed to be doing at first, but once I figured things out I was pretty hooked! Good entry, and I'm glad you had fun building it :)

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 12:55

@MegRabbit Thank you for the input, im glad you liked it :) we hope to introduce some changes into the game soon! Every comment counts, and we re listening to all of your opinions and ideas +.+

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 12:57

@n00b Thank you ;) Ill try to reproduce that issue and give it a fix !

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 13:00

@Ninjascribble Really happy with all the input so far .. Such a simple game but we re happy with the result and with the fact that you are playing our game <3

ratherjolly 2018-04-28 17:01

Oh man. Like... Everything about this game. It's beautiful. Favorite LD41 game so far!!! Well Done :D

joqlepecheur 2018-04-28 17:05

ld41_puzzle.png

I don't have qwerty keyboard, so it was quite hard to reload as I was playing with arrows. Perhaps add right clic as a reload alternative ? On the other hand, when I no longer had to move (only one piece to protect) it became a bullet fest.

The audio was good and the movement of the character were fluid.

The simplicity of the concept is what makes it nice :)

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 17:10

@Ratherjolly Thanks for the input :) Glad you liked it!!

estacaomarte 2018-04-28 17:11

@joqlepecheur Thank tou 😊! Good ideia on using right click to reload, we'll add that, or maybe better give the option do change input controlls ;)!

weekend-panda 2018-04-30 00:54

Congrats on your first LD game! Game seemed fun, though when I ran out of glue the first time I didn't realize I could reload, ha ha. Maybe it could flash "R" on the screen when that happens, as a cue for players. Anyways, nice work, hope you enter again next Jam!

estacaomarte 2018-04-30 01:21

@weekend-panda thanks for the input and the advice on the UI. I hope to get a fully finished game out of this project with all the ideas we had for it, before continuing my journey on indie game development! I really loved this experience and intend to keep going on this kind of events :) people here seem to be really nice anda have fully constructive opinions, really enjoying that <3

annie-owl 2018-04-30 13:04

Interesting game concept. Fending off the puzzle floor from zombie puzzles was pretty fun. BGM was very well made - cheerful and uplifting. I would suggest to implement in game tutorial as fast as possible, because text description is good thing to have, but not enough. Also, telling to the player that the red puzzle at the beginning is actually "Quit" button would be nice, because at first i've thought that the game just crashed for some reason, when i killed it.

tero-laxstrom 2018-04-30 19:29

Very good game with good story once you realized it was literally what you should do. And once you got past the menu. Working game that follows the theme. Played it longer than most LD games I've checked. Really good job.

schu 2018-05-02 02:26

I didn't really understand what I was supposed to be doing. I kept shooting both of them and my game would just crash suddenly.

estacaomarte 2018-05-02 09:40

@schu Still didnt have the time to finish the help and objectives layout, but if you read my introduction text you will understand! The game doesnt crash :P, the thing is that when you start the game, 2 puzzle pieces will appear, representing PLAY and QUIT respectively. When you shoot a puzzle piece, it will fall and at the same time a floor tile will light up with the same color. At this point if you place yourself over that colored tile, GREEN or RED, it will start the game or exit!

estacaomarte 2018-05-02 09:41

@schu Please, give it another try ;) the simple concept behind the starting stage was for the player to understand the game mechanics :)
