Game Jam the Game by Jacksendary 2018-04-24T16:17:00Z
I like the concept! It's kind of a glorified random number generator... it could be so much more... Hope you keep with the idea and take it to the next level! :)

Fantastic job! It was too hard for me personally, ha ha, so I died like 12 times before I made it to anywhere and then ended up quitting, but if there was an easy mode I would definitely play for a long while to see all the dialogue and story. And that art is TREMENDOUS. Good work!
Fan-freaking-tastic! What a great job overall. Your art style has always been appealing, and this is no exception. Only thing I think could really improve them game is if it didn't pause while you were spinning, because by the time I decided to quit I had like 50 spins but didn't feel like sitting there going through them all. :) Nicely done!
Seems well made but I have to admit I had no idea how to play or what was happening, ha ha. Mostly the ships just stood there rolling and shooting. Will give it a few more tries to attempt to wrap my head around it! :)
Nice job and cool concept! It didn't seem to work in Firefox, but I opened it in Chrome and had some fun. As some folks have said, the jumping could get pretty frustrating, but overall it was well crafted and a good time. Once I got used to the controls it went much more smoothly and it was fun. Would be neat to see this turned into a full puzzle game!
Honestly there aren't many Ludum Dare games that will cause me to buckle down and play over and over no matter how long it takes to win, but this was so good and fun to play it made it into that category! Congrats on a job well done! Such fun. Except I'm going to have nightmares about those friggin' skeletons. BLAST THEM AND THEIR LUNGES!
Wow. Just truly "wow." This is, so far, hands down the best of the Jam that I've played! Truly incredible work, especially in such a short amount of time. The art, the sound, the fun, it's all there. Brilliant. I don't hand out perfect scores very often, but this is one of those times when the whole package is just incredible. Bravo!
Lovely start! The feel of the game is a lot of fun, with the animation and controls (the screen shake made me a little dizzy, though). It would be terrific to see this taken further, so I hope you stick with it! If so, drop us a line at WeekendPanda on Twitter or something, because I'd love to play more. Nice job!
@tinyworlds Such an option would be a lifesaver, thanks! :D
Well done! Really fun game after things started ramping up, and it was a interesting to go back and forth on both belts and all the pots at the same time. Good work.
Nice job overall! Cute art and nice sound choices. I wasn't sure if there was a penalty for rejecting pieces, but there didn't seem to be, which means you can just reject them all until the perfect piece arrives, ha ha. Anyway, good work.
Ha ha, nice job! Funny little game, though I couldn't manage to get a "win" state so who knows where I went wrong, lol. Anyway, good work and congrats!
Nicely done! Had a tough time figuring out the harvest aspect, but it seems like a really solid foundation for what could be a great full game. :)
Lovely little game! If expanded upon with levels/goals and maybe some ability to move blocks over (even if it was a limited ability so it didn't break the match-3 aspect) I would totally play for hours. Good job!
Very cool! I wish it wasn't quite so large, I couldn't see it all on my screen so I had to scroll back and forth, ha ha. But that's alright, what was there was solid. I ended up trying to type with only my left hand, and I never realized just how much I need both for typing normal words! :P Well done, congrats on finishing LD41!
Terrific job! I am not usually a fan of arcade-high-score style games, but I kept playing this over and over, so it must be good. :) Well made and really entertaining, great work!
Nice job! Hard game, but well made. Kudos.
Hey, nicely done! This was a fun little game to play, and very easy to understand which is great. I also like the character designs, they are unique and don't feel generic. Good work!
I played it 10 minutes ago and it was working, but now it's not working properly - looks like the ground is now above us (windows Firefox). It was a lot of fun when it worked correctly and the concept is definitely great!
We tried restarting, but no, that didn't fix it. It did happen right away, yep.
Well done! Sure it was missing sound, but the game is fun to play, and that's most important. Really cool designs, and a neat concept with the vector vs. pixel thing. Cool stuff, good work!
Nicely done! A lot of fun seeking out what ingredients were needed. I wasn't sure what the timer was for...? It added this scary time element that always kept me more nervous than having fun, ha ha. Like, I wasn't sure if at any moment the time would "run out" and it would be game over. :) Anyway, great job and congrats on finishing for the jam! Good stuff.
Ha ha, this game is haaaaaaaard! But I stuck with it and finally won. Suck on that, terrifying-basketball-team-carrying-knives-on-the-court! :P Nice job, especially for your first attempt!
I like the concept! It was a little hard - I wasn't able to get any coins pushed over after multiple play throughs. Great start though, fun little LD game. :)
Wow, nice job! Really cool concept, though it was suuuuuuper difficult to read and run/jump at the same time, ha ha. Guess that's why they're incompatible! Overall wonderful work. Also the art and animation was superb.
Wow, terrific work! Amazing visuals, fun sound effects, and what a cool concept. Nice! I apparently suck at the game, because I kept failing over and over (and like @woergbi above I died a bunch before knowing that the down arrow made you stop being in Ball form, ha ha). Anyway, wonderful job and kudos for doing so much in just three short days! Excellent.
Nice job! I got confused on the baseball part, but after three or four tries I managed to whack the fish, ha ha. Cute graphics and fun concepts! Congrats on the game!
Ha ha, what did I just play?! That was hilarious. Great job, so weird and creative and fun. And the little purchase-meow sound effect was icing on the cake. :)
@sugarbyte @ldurrant Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
@TayGoS Thanks! And yep, totally agreed about the team thing. :)
@Rowdy3 Ha ha, yeah, it's not easy. Especially after playing that many times! Your hand gets tired, lol. (Spoiler, you didn't miss a lot, the Earth is still destroyed in the end, lol.)
@rosypenguin Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It's been amazing to see so many husband/wife teams do this jam. Love it.
@jchaplin Thanks!
@przekop Yeah, seems like he maybe got a little overzealous, ha ha. Glad you enjoyed it!
@K1mpp4 Same! Those little loading screen segments were the most fun to write of all. :)
@Rulrite Thanks for the kind words! So happy to hear you had fun with it. And yes, let's have this be a cautionary tale against making black holes for fun and profit.
@Q-ro Lol, not an A-! That's basically a failing grade! : p
Thanks everybody for playing and rating the game! It means a lot that you all had fun. That's why we do this, after all! :D
@legavroche Thanks! Yep, we wanted to do more variety in the gameplay but that pesky 3-day deadline wrecked some initial plans, ha ha. It happens! Originally when the black holes started sucking people up you were going to be able to run over and whack them with a Science Broom to stop them before running back to the cookie machine. Maybe some day we can do a full release with those efforts included!
@Albuquerque Thank you! That means a ton to get the feedback that it was fun, because I absolutely agree with you on the "Games are supposed to be fun" mantra. :D On to the next!
@chriiis88 Yeah, we're working on getting better at actual game-creation so it's not just clicking and dragging for next time! Ha ha, but every day a few more steps in the right direction. :) Thanks for giving the game a try! Glad you enjoyed the humor aspect.
@Rombus So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, too. :)
@HopFrog Hooray! Glad you finally got to play it and enjoyed it. Yes, the Zoo part was being constantly worked on on the programming end, so the art side (JK, me writing this right now) spent most of the time work on the characters and cutscenes, ha ha. Next time we'll balance a little better! :) (Also you're welcome to steal any of the jokes. Or heck, just point people over to Weekend Panda games and we'll call it even!)
@Annie Owl Sounds good, after we complete our next full mobile game we're working on now maybe we'll revisit this one and jazz up the clicker-graphics!
@Beebo Studios Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, that last level can be taxing on the ol' clicking-finger. By the end we were exhausted from play-testing so we weren't sure how hard the final level was since we were so tired, ha ha. But I was adamant that it be a LEAST hard enough that some of the guests would get sucked into the black holes, darn it!
@pkenney Yeah, the guy in charge seems a little questionable, though you can't fault his passion I guess! He is really into science. And apparently destroying the Earth. But mostly science! Glad you enjoyed the game! :)
@been Thanks for the feedback! Didn't think of doing a noise for clicking the machine itself, that's a good call. Would add a lot I bet! (Confused about the background music comment, though. There is background music. Or do you mean specifically in the cut-scenes? The levels have music that gets more tense as you go.)
Nice concept!
Fun concept! Could be better if the pieces reset if no recipe listed can be made. Thanks!
Wow, that was a lot of fun! The controls of the car could used tightened a bit as I had a heck of a time moving around (so mostly I just stayed in one spot and shot at other cars, ha ha) but for a three day project this is outstanding! Hope you take it further, there's a lot of good stuff here to build on. :) Congrats!
Nicely done! Good game feel and solid gameplay. Controls could use work, as some folks had mentioned. By the end I found the best thing to do was just mash the keyboard, ha ha. Hunting the right keys while moving was tough. Maybe the mouse could control the movement or something? Overall, though, great job!
Great job! This was a fun game to play, and the puzzles were interesting all the way through. Not sure what "incompatible genres" it was combining, but it was a good time regardless. :)
Great job! Amazing concept and well executed. A little on the hard side (couldn't beat it, or even get NEAR 1000 gold) but overall really fun. Nice work!
Congrats on your first LD game! Game seemed fun, though when I ran out of glue the first time I didn't realize I could reload, ha ha. Maybe it could flash "R" on the screen when that happens, as a cue for players. Anyways, nice work, hope you enter again next Jam!
Nice job! A lot of fun and a great concept. I must admit, it was a little on the hard side, ha ha. Trying to juggle so many buttons frazzled my brain a little. Maybe if the chef auto-caught the fruit instead of having to press C it would have helped. But overall, great work. And it's always neat to see another husband and wife team like we are, tackling game jams and making fun stuff! :D
It was fairly fun! I really enjoyed the shooting of things, especially the dragon.
Gah! I want to play this so much but the darn Windows file is a RAR instead of a ZIP! Sigh... If only Windows had a native RAR unzipper... Anyway, will give it a whirl sans-controller on the Mac at a later point. Just wanted to chime in and say how cool this game looks, and I can't wait to give it a try.
EDIT: Okay! Played it a bit on the Mac at least, and it was a lot of fun. As people have already said, controls are SUPER hard, ha ha. But the feel is brilliant and the style is gorgeous. For some reason the timer/orders didn't work here? I had fun rolling around, but the timer never started nor did any order appear. Oh well!
Nice job! This is a fun little concept, and the style works well too.
This was actually really fun! Having the different rooms was a great design choice as it made you want to keep going. Good job overall!
Terrific little game! It was pretty easy at first, as folks have said, but then it gets interesting as it goes. Would be a fun thing to take to the next level and have stages and powerups and such. Really well done effects, too! Those particles were really nice. Good work overall! :)
Nicely done! I lost because I built too many barriers, ha ha. Didn't realize there was a penalty for that. :) Anyway, good work overall, and neat concept!
Super fun! Really amazing job especially in such a short time. It's definitely my kind of game, and even though it was a little slow at first as I figured things out, it hit a stride as the enemy approached and the timer was closing in on 0. Problematically I built an Iron Shield thing at that point and it broke the game, ha ha. Oops. Well, I am going to go play a second time and NOT do that, but I wanted to leave a note and say great work! I don't know if you plan to turn this into a full game or anything, but if you do let me know because I'd definitely play it. (Twitter @WeekendPanda if you do!)
