Hey. Nice work! I liked the idea! :) (because zombies are awesome and we need more positive zombie portrayal, you know?!!) I didn't really get it in the first round but afterwards it became quite clear and straightforward. Though there was a point where I was pretty sure it is not possible to beat the game. I think there were some points where the enemies hit me and it didn't do any damage to me. And also the gameplay with the damage didn't really work well I think, as you just respawn in the middle, where you actually want to be.
Hi @ente thanks for the feedback - glad you liked the idea!
There is indeed no win condition - it's just survive for as long as you can - falling in love was intentionally made an inevitability.
I know of the bug with enemies not doing damage, but haven't figured out exactly why it's happening yet - using the physics system for collision detection in something that's more like a board game was probably the fundamental mistake.
I agree that the respawn in the middle is a bit weird, I wanted to add some cooldown abilities like a flying kick and a roundhouse kick to give the player some mobility and crowd control, but ran out of time to build the necessary UI for it, so I settled on the simpler health mechanic instead. In it's current state the game could've worked for **Death Is Useful** as well.
Hey there! I enjoyed playing your game got to around 55 points. I liked the art you had for your game it made the game nice to look at and definitely was a big factor in my enjoyment for the game. The only problem I had with the game was due to some game mechanics that I thought were redundant or didn't make sense to me and kinda made the game not fun. I didn't like how if two mobs were lined up one behind the other there was no way to attack them without taking damage from the second one behind the first. I also thought it seemed silly to have a health bar and when you die you respawn on top of what you're trying to protect so there really is no motivation not to die. I also found myself camping on top of the heart waiting for the mobs to get closer because if I went too far out to attack some of the mobs then other ones spawning from somewhere else could sneak up on it and i'd have to chase them to the heart, so instead I sat on the heart and just killed anything that got super close.
I've really wanted to play this zombie love-drama, but controls do not respond at all.
No response
**fixed**
@seannewman22 Thanks for the feedback! The health mechanic was definitely a fail it seems - should rather have tried to get the flying kick mechanic in I suspect.
@alex-lutay Sorry about that - I think I screwed up somehow while uploading the new version. I just rebuilt and re-uploaded and the controls are working now.
@chaotikza thank you! This kind of sneaky last-minute bugs are probably one of the nastiest.
There is definitely place for improvement, but it's a cool fresh idea of combining a tower defence with a turn-based rogue-like mechanics. Loved it!
A game screen doesn't fit into my screen. The character doesn't under my control.
@andrey-ugolnik : Are you referring to the browser version of the game? If so you may just need to click inside the game area to give the game focus to grab key inputs.
The Windows version can go down do 1280x720 resolution - if that's not low enough let me know and I'll upload a build that includes 4:3 aspect ratios, which can go all the way down to 640x480.
