I already want to give it 8/8! It's actually a pretty fun storyline. It would really be nice if you could hold down the mouse to shoot instead of have to click each time, and it's incredibly hard to get past 10 enemies, but it's got a lot going for it for 24 hours.
Thanks man! Yeah I definitely had to keep my scope in check this time around.
You know, I had considered holding versus pressing the mouse each time and to me the rapid click adds to the chaos of it so I ultimately landed on going this way. That said I think I've gotten that feedback before so maybe I'm the only one lol
Thanks for playing my game, David! And thanks for the positive feedback!
Good work. The sound is excellent, and the graphics are very nicely stylized. I did find myself a bit confused with how the health mechanics worked. Most of the time I couldn't even pay attention to the daisy because I was getting shot up so much!

so enjoyed this is was fun and would of loved to see what you would of done with more time :)
The theme, intro, music and whole stylisation of this game are so on-point its unreal. Really like what you have done here with limited time!
really enjoy it great job it just need to have more content in the game play but in the overall it is one of the best game

Great audio with the western style tune!
Loved the music and the graphics! I didn't realize that the cactus could cause damage at first - nice touch! I felt that the bandits simply leaving with the flower was a bit of a stretch on the theme, but keeping yourself alive worked!
I also wish there was a "Skip Text" button, but hey! 24 hours? Great work!

Original and quite sweet storyline. Short but effective. The mechanics are cool, they are easy to grasp and a fun challenge to play. And there's an intro too! Love this entry!
Also, the fact that you did this in less than a day... wow. Props to you!
P.S. My entry is sort of a similar take on the theme, so I x2 loved to see yours.
Wow! Tons of folks came played, thanks everyone! And thanks so much for all the great feedback! Many of you are really liking the music which is great :) It was first time doing a western styled soundtrack so I'm really happy with how it all turned out.
@quinn-patrick Yeah, that's totally fair! I rush put in bourbon bottles for the bandits to drop that with give you a heart. I agree that the health system in general was a bit underdeveloped and not terribly clear. I basically put something in to get it functional but didn't ever get around to really tuning it. In hindsight, I think a simple health bar would have likely been more clear than that hearts. That's probably something I'd change if I were to go back and iterate on this one.
@jonathanjoseph Same! I really wish I had more time to had more content. Different types of enemies and environments. I think it could be really fun and hilarious to essentially turn this into an Oregon Trail type game where you have to escort this flower across the country. Along the way bandits are trying to steal it and there could be river crossing missions, snowy mountain levels, etc. Who knows? Maybe I can make some time to do that as a post jam version :)
@theartifacts Yeah I agree, its a bit of a stretch on the theme but in all honesty I really wasn't feeling the theme. I had originally thought about starting the game as a farming simulator game and then suddenly ninjas would bust in and steal all your crops so it just totally goes against where you think the game is going. I figured a lot of folks would be doing farming games this time around so throwing in some good ol fashioned subversion is nice. As you can see though I strayed pretty much immediately from that concept though as I knew I wouldn't have enough time to develop it.
@sndr Thanks! Yeah, I always feel that setup is really important. I tend to focus on polish early. That usually means I have a game that isn't terribly unique or interesting concept-wise but is at least pretty polished. I will definitely go check yours out!

Those pesky daisy-stealing bandits! I loved this concept and execution, nice work!
Holy guacamole, I love this game. This is awesome. No problems, other than a few bugs. The music is actually insane. Can't wait to see what you pull out next ludum dare!
Thanks so much, Kristian!
I really liked this game!!!!! I want more of it.
Your game is really great especially compared to all the similar games this jam. The ART! The pixel art fit the game perfectly and creates a retro feel. The Music! Nothing to say but it is AMAZING!! And the game play is nothing short of flawless. Very few bugs and it not super hardware intensive. Only gripe is the AI seem to have God Aim, lol. Otherwise the game is great and cant wait to see more from you
Hey @twistashio thanks so much for the feedback! Really awesome to hear you liked the game and thought the music was amazing :) Yeah the AI can be pretty tough to deal with. At one point they were much much harder, the bullets moved faster and they shot 3 bullets at a time, yeah, that was a bit much lol Anyways, thanks again for playing my game!
I love the Western feel omg. the music was so great!!!
Thanks @tater-hater for playing my game! Man, it's so great to hear all this love for the music! This was first foray into doing Western music so I definitely have to keep exploring this avenue :)
Ok, for the little amount of time you spent on this game, it's very well rounded and complete. The intro was slick. Especially when the title appear on queue with the music, that felt real cool. It's hectic, but it makes it feels more like an actual shootout. You also can't see very far, which makes it disorienting when enemies run in guns blazing. Again, I actually think it adds a good effect to the shootout feel. All in all, this is a strong entry, I just wished there was more. But that's a good problem to have. I got 19 bandits before I lost. Great job!
Hey @diego-escalante thanks so much for playing and for the great feedback! I really agree with a lot of your points and feel very much the same way. I keep coming back to it and actually wanting to iterate on it so I think that's a good sign. And yes! I'm really proud of that initial title text pop in synced with the music! That's like pretty much the only thing that I super remember about old westerns so I knew I needed to have that.
Good stuff! The theme and atmosphere is what is great about this. The lone daisy in the desert is such a great and poetic concept.
Thanks @dandala88 :) Really appreciate you giving my game a shot and your feedback!

Thanks @artemftw!

Love audio and sound, mood is superb. Gameplay feels like its missing something, some deepnes maybe in mechanic. But overall its really cool game. Good job.
Thanks for the feedback @jsec! I agree, the game play as is is shallow. I think adding just a handful of different additional objectives, environmental hazards that could be used both against you or the bandits, etc would really add quite a bit to the game. I think if I were to add more to this game I'd look to add more levels both to change up the visuals but also give a chance for new mechanics to get added in over time.

I think this is a really effective simple game! The artwork is nice, the sound effects are great. There is things you could improve like adding in environemtnal factors, scorpions, lizards, maybe different weapons?
Absolutely @ponypen ! I very much want to grow the game and expand it by introducing extra mechanics. Thanks so much for playing it and for your feedback :)
I feel like there should be a better visual indication that the cacti can damage you. I definitely just thought they were decoration. Other than that, the art is friggin' adorable! Great job, and it's a pretty cool game!
@blobo yeah the cactus do make you flash and bounce you back a bit but I think you're right. Adding a bit more polish in that taking damage area would have been great. I'm not super happy with the health in general in this current iteration of the game. I've started adding polish to put up a post jam version once all the voting is done. I will definitely be looking to improve this area as a part of that effort.
Thanks for playing my game and for your feedback!

Very good job on the intro. Everything fit together nicely, timed to the music and all. My only gripe is it takes a while to retry! Well done!

@gwinnell yes! Nicely done! And absolutely, I'm working on a post jam version and faster retries is at the top of my priorities list! I keep trying to get higher scores too and realizing how long it takes just to try again. Thanks for playing my game and thanks for the feedback :)
Victim of scope. I feel ya man.
hey cool graphics and audio. had fun playing this shoot at em game. Good to see your overall theme works fine.
Very nice game, here is the video of me playing the game:
https://youtu.be/gBFauHgMMFI
I would have liked to see maybe some particle effects when the bullets hit the enemies and something many people forget that I think adds a ton to the game feel is screen shakes, when shooting and when the you hit something.
(Also the music fit the game really well)
Otherwise really nice!
@svarttand hey thanks for playing and for your feedback! Based on that, maybe check out my post jam update version which maybe added screen shake and particle effects :P
@echo-team yup, scope gets all of us, every game jam lol
@vivek-sharma20 hey thanks for playing my game! Happy to hear you had fun and felt overall the theme worked pretty well.

Fun and challenging game! I liked it! I think it would be nice to be able to skip the intro cutscene when starting again after death. When I lost, I wanted to get back to action as quickly as it could possible be but I was forced to rewatch the intro cutscene and it kept me waiting (the cutscene itself is nicely done, by the way!).
Hey @sergei thanks for playing and for your feedback! Be sure to check out the updated version as that is something that's been addressed. In the updated version, you can now skip the dialog even the first time around by clicking and when you do a try it skips the entire intro.
Fun game! It's within the theme and the style fits nicely with the gameplay. Controls were very smooth and the sound is on point.
Awesome! Thanks so much for your feedback and for playing my game @binaryprinciple!

Nice game, I like the setting and style  Was quite challenging, never got to many bandits  Great Job! (I agree it would be cool to be able to skip the cut-scene to get to the action fast)
Hey @fabian-g thanks so much for playing and for your feedback! If you want, checkout my post update version where you can now skip the dialogue with just a couple mouse clicks and then when you retry the entire intro is skipped so you can just keep trying! There's also a handful of other balance tweaks and visual improvements :)

Really impressive for 24 hours! I love the western theme, the Leone reference, the character design, and the audio. And that Daisy is precious- I really wanted to save it. Thanks for the game!
Thanks @joemid! I'm glad at least one person understood the fistful of dollars reference :) thanks for playing!

You really nailed the sound on this one. The good music, the bang when the title appeared. And the gameplay was very fun and pleasant I just hoped the intro would be passed after the first time, so I can retry faster and not have to wait the whole intro
Hey @hornicar thanks so much for your feedback and for checking out my game! Absolutely agreed on the retry time, if you wanted to give it another go, please do checkout my post jam updated! I makes it so you can skip the intro just by clicking, on retry the entire intro is just skipped, and then some bug fixes and visual improvements.
Really funny game! I really liked the intro sequence and the combat felt good! Maybe the enemies bullets could have been just a bit slower so dodging wasn't as challenging, might just be preference! Overall, this was a really good Compo entry!
hey @black-flag thanks for playing my game and for the feedback! Yeah, I think you might be right there. It can be a bit tough to dodge the bullets, probably a lot more tweaking could be done there. I also think perhaps a proper dodge move like a roll might help. Thanks again for playing!
