The "you get no help" genuinely made me laugh, lol. This is really well done- I like the subtle effects to make it truly look like a retro computer screen. Might have been nice to add a bit of a twist to make it fit closer to the theme.

Interesting concept. I like the graphic style although I think more mechanics could make the game more interesting.
I really enjoyed this game. It did say when you run out of money you die, but I never ran out. I think it would be cool after the game jam to expand this game and fill up the desktop. The you get no help was funny and I think that you might also be able to play with a creepy aspect as well :)
@entirelybees We definitely wanted to add our extra gimmick (think Surgeon Simulator), but ended up focusing on the core mechanic to finish on time. You can see all our creatively named, unused, original assets in the repo.
@314owen Agreed.
@doubleblackstudios It is difficult to lose (one reason for the title), but there is strategy involved to finding the stocks that will skyrocket. Will spend plenty of time adding in all the extra facets in due time.

Alright yeah clicking on the title buttons was definitely one of the funniest/most painful things I've done today. Almost as painful as losing large on SYT :(

Fun simulator, would've needed maybe some goals beyond just making a fortune. Or maybe I just missed. Cool old school Mac look!

It is a very cool game. It kind of enter into the theme but not entirely (or maybe I missed the point). I like the simple but clean and polish interface. The You get no help is a really funny easter egg!. I think the game would have been better with 4 button "buy 1" "buy 10" "sell 1" "sell 10" to have a more ergonomic interface but this is just really nice to play in the current state. Congrats it is a really nice job!
@jjjjason I feel you. SYT="So You Thought" XD
@gimblll Thanks! Achievements was one of the things we thought of and didn't have time to add :P
@jin47 Thanks also! Yeah, it doesn't really scream, "THIS IS THE THEME," but goal is to use your income (your life) to support yourself by trading stock (is currency).
Well done, really interesting concept and I really like the old school computer graphics and the 'you get no help' message, that's pretty good :P

Cool simulator. Was just like Wall Street! Buy low sell high :) Agree with @jin47 that a "Buy 10" would be useful!
I love it: when I was a kid I thought this was all non-C64 computers were used for (and I was a bit jealous). Now that I can buy and sell stocks on my own authentic Oggle II computer, I realize the stress of it all wouldn't have done me good as a kid.
I love this entry (my first "5" for graphics ;) ) - i clicked on your "games" links because I wanted to see what else you'd made. Sadly nothing else was there, but I hope you do more LDs!

I had no idea what I was doing at first but then I realized you must increase the amount you are buying. After that I sort of clicked buy when it was low and sell when high and got millions of dollars. Good game, could use a tutorial.
@norris-eldridge @cheebz Thanks (^v^)
@mrspeaker This was my first time doing LD, WOO! I will definitely do future ones and other jams to build up my skills and repertoire. @bunn1e5 has some of his own small games at the itch.io link above.
@sockyman Duly noted ;)
All in on SK! Got in at a cool 100 per stock and rode it up until the price no longer even fit on the screen. I think my score was also overflowing... but it was fun getting to that point! I was surprised by how addicting the gameloop was. I was just picking a few stocks, buying when the number went positive, and then selling when it went negative. That strategy seemed to work pretty well. The graphics were very well done, and I loved the humorous "You Get No Help". Great entry :smile:

I really enjoyed this. I may be dumb but it took me a bit to get the hang of actually doing stuff. I really like the aesthetic of the old Mac type thing you've got going on. I dunno if the background noise was intentional but it adds to it too lol. Anyway, this was great!
YOU GET NO HELP
@boxedmeatrevolution Buy low, sell high :)
@mdwade You're not dumb, there's a lot to keep track of and it all changes pretty quickly (like the real stock market I guess). Noise was intentional to give it that classic CRT hum ;)
This is neat, but at the end I just bought everything. Spreading your assets = safe I guess?
Regardless, Love the retro feel of the Oggle II. Felt like a clicker, and I like clickers. Make more clickers. Well done!

I like the old Apple aesthetic, and your logo design is pretty clever too. The hints made the game pretty easy; I doubled my money within a few minutes.
@josefnpat Diversification is safe. There is no reward without risk on the other hand.
@ransom News may change over time, so keep a good eye on it :eyes:

Seemed simple at first, but this kept me busy. Love the look and tone. Would have liked a scroll wheel function for the slider even though it might not be totally authentic. Well done.
Great visual aesthetic, smart concept, good humor weaved throughout. The harsh white and black colors hurt a little bit as I stared at numbers tick up and down. But I was engaged in those numbers, which is impressive! And thanks for tuning into the stream!

Love the graphics, interesting concept but buying things that pay out dividends makes you infinitely rich pretty quick.
@nathant Scroll wheel would help, will add that. You can also click and drag the screen. Glad you liked it!
@carlsonandpeeters We were going for authentic Mac feel, guess that means we hit the nail on the head XD Thanks for streaming, brought in some good traffic!
@3mpty For that reason, we tried to make them pretty uncommon. Had a bug in development where they literally gave you infinite money, so at least that isn't the case, haha!
Cool game, but a bit confusing in the beginning. Should have been with retro sound effects :-)
I get the concept but for me it's pretty boring :P The graphics look very well, also a background music would be great.
@craftlord @gargantus In paper we had sound thought out, just didn't have the time to add it in without sacrificing the rest of the game. Hope it didn't affect your experience too much ;) In the future, we'll probably work with someone so that one or more of use can dedicate time specifically to art, SFX, and BGM.

Bonus points for the "You get no help"! However, for me this game was a bit too boring to play for long. A few sounds or some background music might have helped, but I think it definitely needs an extra mechanic te become interesting for me. Great connection to the theme though!

GG to you guys anyway!

I felt overwhelmed navigating across the amount of information (scrolling up and down, then seeing the forecasts, then back to check your assets, rinse and repeat) to decide where and how much to buy/sell, but I can see how easy it can be to enter flow state once you get the hang of it.
The graphics were very fitting with the game concept, which also suited the jam theme perfectly.
Nice job!
@ithildin We originally planned for 100 stocks instead of 10. When @bunn1e5 showed me 10, I was like, "100? :laughing: haha :expressionless: NO!"
I like the nostalgic graphic styles. After 12:00 the stocks acting crazy :), very big winnings. Great little game.

It was a bit annoying to have to click on each stock the exact amount you want to buy/sell and it was just too much stuff to watch all the time - but that may be only my problem. :D Nice little game though!
