I love the concept and the art. I like the incorporation of the theme too. WANT MORE GAMMMMEEEE. You should really make this into a full-fledged thing!

Solid game. I loved the concept and the storyline, and the nicely drawn art was top-notch. And the music! Man I want that soundtrack. The "game" part of it was a little sparse, however, and not super interesting all the time, as the boulders sometimes glitched out and were sometimes very annoying. Still, an awesome idea!
I like the difficulty, though it got frustrating at times due to no one on earth having that kind of reaction time. Also found out that for most of the first half I could just camp the wall and ride it out hahaha. Still, solid game, and great graphics.
I'm not quite sure what kind of instruments you used to make this music, but no offence, I couldn't get into it at all. Maybe it's just not my taste. Also, it didn't seem to matter how fast I inputted the correct shape, my life meter just drained too fast, and the amount of energy I recieved for doing a correct action didn't seem to boost my energy enough to compensate. I love the animation. Why is there no score system? I'm not really tempted to play again if I have no idea if I did better than the last time.
Reaaally impressive scripting of the guards, behaviors, and the game overall. Loved the simple aesthetics and nice looping background sounds. A really solid little game. VERY challenging though.
It was an interesting concept, and I liked the idea of movement and shapeshifting. Unfortunately, I know that the music was probably just cobbled together, but maybe in post-comp versions it could have a little variety in the loop? Also there's a bug on Level 2 where the 2 villagers at the bottom get stuck facing each other wich makes killing only one of them impossible.
Interesting concept, and I'm sorry to see that you ran out of time, because you may have been onto something here. Everyone else has already voiced some complaints, but the one that bugged me was that the camera on the cat was so low that you can really only see what's above you, so getting down or seeing if you missed a gem below you was impossible.
I love the retro Asteroids vibe you have going, and the gameplay with the upgrade system is solid. Good work!
5 stars all around. A lot of love put into the level design, I like how you focused on actually DESIGNING the game instead of just buffing it up with fancy graphics. Keeping it simple is always good. The theme match was perfect and well executed. Only downside? I couldn't see the green spikes in the green world very well, which made the first few levels an unnecessary challenge because I couldn't see the obstacles! Other than that? Stellar.
I like the game, just wish there was some way I could play it without a buddy. Great sound, great gameplay, cool idea. Still wish it had tied into the theme, but since you don't even have that as a rated category I guess you didn't even plan on that hahaha! Still, a cool little game.
5 stars in every category. This game is freaking amazing. Now, put it up in a web browser somewhere!
Couldn't run it, though it looked really good. Quite sad it didn't work. Something about how I didn't have the right permissions? Then it would just delete my application icon. Weird.
I like it! I couldn't test out the multiplayer (no friends hahaha), but the game was really fun regardless. Love the MS Paint graphics, too! It was really well done, and I enjoyed it!
Wasn't bad. I liked how smooth the platforming was, and the animations were all nice. The story is something you really don't see in a lot of LD games, and it's a nice touch of humor.
I would love the game...if there were any game to it. The artwork is amazing, but the mouse aiming kept desyncing, the robots in the building got stuck together, and I didn't really see the point in hijacking a robot if you couldn't kill other robots with it.I got killed without seeing what robot was killing me, and since all it takes is one shot to die, I had no way of avoiding it except to keep shooting offscreen and hoping I hit something. The sound design is great, but I think you forgot to loop the main soundtrack, becuase it just cut out on me about a minute in. I would love this game. Just fix the bugs.
I liked the overall idea behind the game, but I couldn't move my mouse all the way around, and the music was unfortunately very rough. I know it was probably patched together, and it was okay at the start, but it just looping incessantly drove me mad. It was a good start though! I would play more if given the chance!
I loved it! The sound effects, the super simple design and story, and the replayability were all top-notch! Wish there were more ties to the "shapeshift" idea, but still a solid title
That's pretty good! I like it! Lots of fun, and very innovative!
Thank you all so far for your helpful comments and feedback! Yes, I was going to put different controls in (using j,k, and l instead of numbers), but it was gettting too close to the deadline and unfortunately I can't change it! Thank you so much for all the support though!
UPDATE: I know that I cannot edit the game files while still in the competition (it's against the rules), but on my itch.io page, I have updated the game to support J, K, and L buttons for shooting! Plus fixed the music not looping! The power of feedback!
Looks great, sounds amazing...juuust a little bit of performance issues. I have a TERRIBLE setup, and it just couldn't run the game smoothly. And I get that the dog "shapeshifts", but it really wasn't a core mechanic, unfortunately. Still, amazing graphics and sound!
Unfortunately, for me the game crashed when I pressed the Play button...some sort of javascript error on the page. Wish I could grade it, it looked like it would've been fun. Also, in the web browser version, I had to go fullscreen in order for the UI to fit...did you forget to use UI Anchors?
Loved the music and the awesome glowey but simple art direction. It's just a fun game, simple as that. I would loooove to see an internet or even just a local high score board though! It sure would bump up the replayability. Great game though!
Pretty well-rounded game. It kinda creeped me out at the beginning, but I grew to enjoy the visuals and music. Good job.
I couldn't run the game on Web for some reason...something about it ran out of memory??!?
@steph88 Hi, thank you for the opportunity to get the game out there. I put the project (with the #LDJAM as asked) on indiexpo.net, And you should be able to find it under Ragdoll Romans! Thank you again, and thank you to all the other helpful comments as well!
A very cool concept!
Some occasional bugs:
-Amount of coin objects spawned does not always match the amount of gold received
-Able to return to lair over villages (or at least one of them, to the west)
-Second baby dragon snaps to the location of the baby dragon already following when entering lair (doesn't seem to cause any animation, culling, or other issues, but is noticeable)
Some feedback:
-Very easy to sit above one village and spam attacks without worrying about health ticking down too fast
-No way of knowing attack cooldown without timing and memorizing it
-Very satisfying to collect large amounts of gold
-Feels good to level up
Overall: Great concept, with a progression style reminiscent of Swords and Souls (which is a good thing). A bit too easy, and definitely light on polish, but a solid and unique entry. :D
