Despite this game being somewhat lacking in the theme department, I had a lot of fun playing it. Feels smooth and very polished.

Despite this game being somewhat lacking in the theme department, I had a lot of fun playing it. Feels smooth and very polished.
Really enjoyed the art style. Controls also felt nice and responsive. Good work :) (on a side note, I originally thought the title was shitty witch..., made much more sense when I saw the controls :P)
Love the graphics style and general atmosphere. I think it would help a lot of the bullets were more visible, as I sometimes wasn't aware that I was being shot at. It would also be nice if you could shoot diagonally/vertically.
Very nicely done, really enjoyed the art style and the gameplay was quite challenging but fun.
I do feel however that the controls were a bit unresponsive. A second issue I found was that the camera changes made the wasd a bit inconsistent, which was frustrating at times.
Great job! Really like this game :) Mechanics are very simple but the addition of the time limit adds quite a bit of challenge. Also really enjoyed the animations, graphics style, and sound.
Fun game, would be nice if the cursor was mouse based as it feels a bit clunky using the arrow keys. I really liked the artstyle and level design, and felt that the difficulty was nicely balanced.
Haha I really liked this game, albeit a bit too difficult for me :). The dying sound was really funny, and it was amusing how you could still move around like a worm after you died.
nice, could really feel the impact as the tit slapped those silly little uh... things...
This is a really neat idea, very fun:). The cart is a bit difficult to handle however. I'm not sure if having the card movement and tipping on the same keys was an intentional design decision, but separating them might help with the control.
Interesting game. Unless I am mistaken, are some of the more expensive options objectively worse than the cheaper ones? For example a factory makes 1 dollar every 4 seconds(so 2 every 8) whereas a double robot makes 2 every 6.
This is a really impressive entry. One slight nitpick is for a more refined text system. For example not queueing up text boxes, make text move slightly faster, allow for a fast display option etc. I also got stuck but that is more due to me being terrible at point and click adventures ;)
Oh wow this is great, a very interesting and original take on the idea. Wish I had an actual commodore to test your code. I did run it on an emulator and it seemed to work without issue.
cool game, nice graphics and pretty cool take on the theme :) Game feels somewhat luck-based however. Also it seems possible to perform one task by using 3 of the same items which I assume is there to somewhat counter the randomness.
cute game, great art! Would have liked a reminder textbox to show what we needed as I kinda forgot after a while.
Very cool, artstyle is very humorous and well done. I also enjoy how this game sates my need for enslaving others to do my bidding, thus removing the need to do this in reality and making me a better person, thanks!
haha nice idea, soundtrack is also quite charming. Would have loved to see more items to interact with and research :)
Hey all, thanks for the comments and feedback!
@tedajax I definitely agree that making the animations much more tightly coupled with the inputs is better, instead of just using specific buttons/clicks as triggers. Also allows the user to fail more :)
@Boberro Great suggestions! Allowing fail states I feel will definitely add more variation to the gameplay. Things like the flint failing to ignite the gunpowder messes with aim and forces the players to perhaps be more reckless. Adding enemies/more target variations would definitely also how with the variety of gameplay
Great entry! Loved how meta the game felt. Also great music and enjoyed the art as well. Really cool that you have a working editor in the game as well. Great job!
Interesting idea. It currently feels a bit too much like a click spammer (if I was playing the game correctly). It might be in the game already and I might simply be missing it, but it would be interesting to see interactions between the various animals (for example t-rex hunts dodos etc.).
Reminded me a lot of when I was at a game reserve and the warden was telling me about how they had to introduce animals very carefully in order to not break the ecosystem. Definitely feels like this game has a lot of potential :)
I saved the universe! Liked this game, pretty solid in terms of mechanics, and very amusing sound effects :) Great job!
Nice simple game with pretty good execution. Both the sound effects and the graphics were enjoyable. Felt pretty polished in general.
@endurion hah glad you enjoyed it :) your scores are better than mine even though I designed the puzzles... I feel inadequate now hehehe.
Hey all, thanks so much for the comments, it's really cool to see that people managed to get past the clutter and actually figure out the game (I was definitely worried that it might be a bit dense).
To address some of the comments: -I definitely agree that both a better difficulty curve, as well as a tutorial would help a lot. If I were to work on this further, that would definitely be quite high priority. -Definitely agree with the confusion of 0,0 being bottom left, luckily this is quite easy to change -The stack idea is really good, and is definitely a good extension to the current model. I also think adding more commands such as abs would be good as it allows for distance calculations, resulting in shapes such as circles etc.
Nice game, feels quite polished too. I'm pretty bad at it however... As some others have mentioned, I felt that the colour balancing could be more aggressive, as it currently feels a bit like an afterthought. Overall excellent entry :)
Enjoyed this game quite a bit. Pretty simple idea but the mechanics felt really satisfying, and the game was also really challenging. One thing that I would have liked to see was more complex orbit jump mechanics, but that is just a minor nitpick :) Great entry!
Nice game with cute graphics and sound effects. My main complaint is the controls, which felt a bit floaty and imprecise. Other than that, pretty good entry, especially for compo!
This is a very interesting idea. I might have missed it but I couldn't tell what type of person the target was, which made the whole thing just seem like random guessing. Also I wasn't too sure if the spatial mapping of points was relevant (it didn't seem so, but I'm not sure).
If you address some of the randomness issues (or just provide more information to the player), I feel like this game has quite a bit of potential to be really fun.
Nice graphics and sound, also pretty fun. I'm not sure if I was missing it but there didn't seem to be a way to jump? Made it difficult to dodge the bullets. Also not too sure what happened in the second section but the space ship hovered over me and then everything became white... Overall pretty nice entry, good job :)
Haha that was quite an ending. Certainly one of the more amusing LD entries I've seen this time around :)
This is a really nice idea. Really like the sound, which was both catchy and fit well into the general feel of the game. The graphics were also, despite being quite simple, really pretty and fit in well with the game.
One small nitpick I have for this game is that the controls didn't feel quite as crisp as I wanted, and the white goo often got lost or stuck.
Overall nice game idea! I normally don't enjoy puzzle games much but this one was quite fun
I felt that the controls in this game were way too floaty. Found the narrator pretty amusing however. Would love to see a more fleshed out version of this game with better controls and the humor still intact :)
I'm 12 what is this? In all seriousness pretty amusing game, quite an original idea. Sound was also quite amusing, and graphics seemed to fit. I think it could have been a bit more challenging, as it felt really repetitive after a while.
Super cute game! The upgrade (i was only able to dope once) felt super fun and impactful.
To nitpick a bit, I felt that the difficulty curve could use some work, as sometimes early on things felt super unfair, whereas at later stages you would get times where almost nothing spawns.
Another thing that got me a bit (although this could just be because I suck) is that the shots were on the side of the moon, which took a bit to get used to.
All that being said, really great entry, pretty fun as well. Felt a bit like a variation of space invaders :)
Good execution around a simple but interesting idea. The controls also worked quite well, and the atmosphere is excellent. As some above have mentioned, it is quite bare-bones in terms of mechanics, but I personally quite like that as it made for a nice relaxing experience without having to think too much. Good job!
First off, congratulations on finishing your first game! I really enjoyed the idea behind the game, nice, simple and easy to understand. Good job!
like the idea :) I like how different terrain types influence movement speeds, this can probably be elaborated on to make the player decide between longer paths which are faster, or shorter but slower paths (although perhaps you already do this and I missed it...).
It might just be me but I would have loved to just see a simulation of the ants, with the pheromones being handled automatically :P
I really liked this game. The controls felt pretty tight, and despite the artstyle being quite simple, the animations of the blocks and the particle effects of the shots made it quite pleasing. Sound also fits nicely.
Nice game :) Gets really difficult quite fast however, I lasted 14 days hehe. Also really enjoyed the end game screens. One gripe I have is that watering totally makes sense :P (in my mind anyways...)
This is an excellent idea for building a puzzle game around. I would have liked for the mechanics to be introduced a bit slower, so that there is more time to use the already introduced mechanics to solve more elaborate puzzles, but overall I had quite a bit of fun with this, great job :)
Amazing game! Loved the idea and how it was incorporated in the game. I personally found the controls a bit difficult, even with the trajectory helper, but that is probably just because I'm not very good at the game :) Overall fantastic job!
To mimic the sentiments of many others, the platforming mechanics felt a bit weird. I may have possibly missed it but the ability to rotate the camera I feel would have helped things be a lot less weird for me, as I often found that I had to jump backwards which was a bit strange.
I felt that both the graphics and sound were very good, and created a very enjoyable atmosphere to the game. I also liked how high I felt when jumping from platform to platform.
Great game! I'm pretty terrible at it but I love how it controls, feels pretty realistic. Sound effects are awesome as well :)
Congratulations on your first Ludum Dare entry! I feel that the game has potential, and the idea was pretty interesting.
Clearer instructions would have been nice as it took a while for me to figure out exactly what to do. There was also the issue getting penned in by the other white blood cells, which resulted in me not being able to move (I don't know if this was intentional, just assuming that it wasn't).
I did quite enjoy the whole colour based system of the white blood cells being better fighters against certain types of pathogens, although that could have probably been clearer in the gameplay.
Overall a good idea that has a lot of potential should you wish to keep working on it. Good job!
Pretty fun game. I was initially a bit confused as to what various things did (actually I'm still not sure what the minus thing does... I assume the arrow is a shield of some kind) but still had fun nonetheless. Graphics are quite neat as well. Nice entry!
Hey I love this! What type of networks did you use? Just MLPs or something more complicated? Also what type of Neuro-Evolutionary algorithm did you use? Finally how did you set up the inputs and choose networks for breeding?
Sorry for the barrage of questions, This stuff is very intriguing to me :). Of course feel free to ignore any/all of the questions too if you feel the need to keep it private ^^. Either ways great work!
