FIRST!!!

But, seriously, this game is amazing; I love it! I'm a sucker for revisiting previous areas in games with minor alterations, and that's basically all this game is. At first, I was disappointed when I died in one hit, but it really works well with the permanent progression. There's a lot of pressure not to get hit, but it's not too punishing since progress is recorded every few flags. This allows you to make the game crazy hectic without it becoming overwhelming. The interest curve of this game is really will refined, ramping up slightly over time. The interest curve gets reset every time you die, but quickly builds back up to the level it was at before, letting you get your footing without having to replay major portions. This constructs a perfect interest curve with peaks as you get further into a run and dips whenever you die, but still constantly building upwards. Genius! Also, this should go without saying, but the audio and visuals are superb. This is the first 5 star overall rating I've given this Ludum Dare, and you've certainly earned it. Amazing work!

Hey, I'm very impressed, I really like the game! I saw the game some days ago on twitter and I was wondering about it now. I really like the idea of the game, going back on the same level but a bit changed, with new hazards and enemies. It works really well. It can get a bit hard and tricky, but I guess there's the fun of the game. You die at one hit, but you preserve all the improvements.

Graphics are good, and you did some awesome things like the water, or even the menu screen. I like that kind of effects. Overall, really good game.

Very cool pixel art with a lot of small lovely detatils. The water looks very smooth and all the other elements feel very alive. Really good music and the intro sound is very cool and really sound like the name - Uuuuu tuuuuurn :D I like how the world keeps changing and you have a time limit to reach the goal which makes the game even more challenging. The only frustrating thing was to only have one life. But overall a very good game!

Nice entry! I played it for about an hour and couldn't finish it but I was close. (14 flags) The level design is on point, I like how there are not that many obstacles/hazards but you always feel threatened. Even if the game gets repetitive after a while, it's fun to learn from your mistakes and it's also quite addictive!

Got eaten by a shark, bitten by piranhas, drowned a dozen times and still had a lot of fun! What a lovely game!

This is a great game with lots of replayability!

Wonderful assets: art, musix, SFX.

Great design.

A true :gem:

Amazing game! I played it for a good while...

The game is incredibly polished and fun, but the amount of details that went into to the graphics is something else!

Some minor points that could use improvement:

* When trying to jump from the last few pixels of a platform, I would often spend my bomb jump. Adding a few grace frames after you leave a platform would solve this. * Since jump is triggered while the button is down, instead of when it's pressed, I would accidentally expend my bomb jump right after the initial jump. * Hitbox of the cannon's bullet is too big! I was standing over a cannon and got hit by its bullet. (this is mostly salty, since it finished my best run XD)

A great game, with cool graphics and sounds. Sometimes when I pressed the jump button, the guy didn't jump.

Awesome, the best entry I saw for this jam. Perfect realisation, good difficulty curve.

hunter-loftis 2017-05-13 22:53

I love this concept - it's simple (you learn how to play almost immediately) but also deep (I played several times to improve my score) and tense (with the timer). The layering of different environmental components is executed really well. The music and sounds fit the theme. I eventually figured out that I could double-jump but I wasn't sure if I had any other abilities. It would have been nice to be able to use space instead of the up arrow to jump.

Wow I pretty much love everything about this. A very novel spin on a classic game mode, with really nice graphics and sound. The controls also felt quite nice and tight. Even more impressive is that it is a compo entry. Amazing job <3

One of my favourites, fun!

The changing of different environmental factors is a deep idea for a tiny game like this. Great job!

If you have the time, please play and rate my little game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/three-of-you

Got 13 flags most, haven't been able to unlock the shield... Great game! One of the best games I've played!

mikethewayne 2017-05-14 13:14

Really cool game, smooth controls, beautiful graphics, interesting platformer mechanics. Excellent job!

simplepotential 2017-05-14 19:02

Points for a platformer. Took me a while to figure out I was dying by running out of time  Sound was good but I really like the opening screen

sorceress 2017-05-15 23:10

This is beautfully made. Great pixel art, sound is enjoyable, and the design is well thought out. I only managed to capture 4 flags before being eaten by a jumping shark :D I like how the hazards stack up as the game progresses, creating an increasingly chaotic environment to navigate. My only real complaint is the difficulty ramping too quickly, but perhaps I just need more experience at the game!

madjackmcmad 2017-05-16 05:12

This game rocks, you should have 1000x more people playing it. Super innovative, even though most of the elements are drawn from platformer basics, having them shuffle like you did is really smart. Meta progression between deaths kept me playing, music was awesome, graphics were great, you did a hell of a job. Good show.

philomory 2017-05-17 18:36

This is amazingly good. On the first playthrough, I just thought it was "pretty good", but as soon as I got my first flag on my second play-through I knew I was in for a treat. Any game that uses procedural generation gets points in my book, but this game used it particularly well. Add to that the excellent pixel art, solid controls, and catchy music; this game is the full package.

I would love to see this expanded into a larger game in some manner. Maybe different environments, each with their own pool of effects to draw from, a la Spelunky?

Just, excellent, excellent job.

tddawson 2017-05-19 03:53

Wow, I'm also very impressed. It feels so complete and polished for a compo game. Even setting aside the time limit, it feels like a solid web game. It takes a straightforward premise and maximizes it.

If I HAD to change something, I'd say that the music isn't my cup of tea--but it still fits really well with the game so it's hard to complain. Probably just personal preference.

Seriously, though, great job. I hope it gets picked up and played more.

dgspitzer 2017-05-22 09:46

That's spectacular! Really addicting game!~ GJ :joy:

I loved this. Feels like Super Crate Box mixed with Calvin-ball.
