Liked the graphics, but the controls are weird, felt like sliding on ice :(

papiertig0r 2017-12-04 18:55

I never hated children so much xD

Beautiful game!

blobfish42 2017-12-09 19:36

beautifull! I love the music, art, and the concept!

stefan-richings 2017-12-09 19:41

As you said in your post, the controls could have been improved a little but other than that this is awesome. The art is really, really good to kudos to the three artists you worked with. Really nice, polished game.

Right on up there as one of my favourite games of this jam. Possibly the best i've seen so far now.

Nice! Great use of the theme and great graphics. I thought it was too slidey at first but once I got used to it it was really fun. Very addictive! Could maybe use some level design tweaks though - it felt like there was almost no reason to go to the corners since the candy in the middle respawned fairly often and there were too many kids around the edges. Might be cool to have more valuable candy spawn more often towards the edges as a risk/reward mechanic. Also it would be awesome to see this with multiple levels. Some small technical nitpicks - it also needed gamepad support for the menus, and would be nice if the filename wasn't just "windows" or "LD40" :P My high score was 520. Awesome work! :D

Super fun concept and visually amazing! It's such a simple game, yet I somehow got completely absorbed by it. Impressively polished work, especially for a jam game! Hoping you make something more out of this one :)

So happy to see this was a Jam game and not a compo as it is REALLY polished. Loved it when the pinata started to roll because he was too fat. The artwork is outstanding, the idea is outstanding, the game is a lot of fun and very replayable. Poor pinatas, no wonder they are an endangered species

clemzd 2017-12-09 22:22

Really good game! Graphics are really cool but not the children :rage::grin:. I like the audio too, it's a good idea to hear the children's laughter when you approach them.

At the beginning I thought there would be many levels so I went directly to Finish. I think it's not a coincidence that I interpreted the game this way. To me, you should make many levels, with a path to take and children on the way. I found the controls really difficult though, I had a hard time getting in to the direction I wanted.

I really enjoy the art direction you went with for this. Those cardboard fences and paper grass looked great and captured the feeling of the game quite nicely! The controls took some getting used to, but it was fun to see the the pinata get fatter as you kept collecting more candy. What a fun game!

naali 2017-12-09 23:33

I liked the graphics and how the game related to the theme. The score board was a nice idea also. It would be nice to see more levels.

aviland 2017-12-10 01:22

An all around great submission! With some "Lord of the Flies" vibes from those kids D:

I understand why you made the pinata movement clunky. But by giving just a tad bit more control to the player you'll balance the scale between player/game responsibility for failure.

*Side Note: I am looking to make my first public leader board if you have any tips to throw my way that'd be grand.*

DURIFFFTTTOOOOOOOOO

100% Eurobeat worthy pinata drifting game.

I had fun, never quite made it to the leaderboard though. I only got to see the top five scores. What tech did you use?

One time a kid hit me against a corner of the map and sent me flying into pinata space. I fell off the map and plummeted into a candied abyss, my only wish being that those snotty brats would follow me into hell.

Amazing job! Absolutely fantastic art and really cool concept. The floatiness of the controls was a bit hard to get used to, but I eventually got the hang of it. Really great UI as well. Keep it up!

solsforest 2017-12-10 10:48

Wow this game looks great! It was fun to play. I like that I would accelerate the longer I pressed a direction. I managed to scoot by a few demon kids haha!

pcmaster 2017-12-10 11:41

Poor cute Piña, I felt so sorry for it! Evil kids, sooo evil! I love the graphics, also the UI. I love the choice of music and sounds. The controls were better with a gamepad than with keyboard but I played several times... and failed to beat the top 5 :) Good job guys! Please continue making games :)

kakarotsan 2017-12-10 11:49

Outstanding graphics! Hated the controls.

gama-croma 2017-12-10 18:48

Great, uncontrollable but that was the point. Love it.

mewsoul 2017-12-11 19:39

Thanks to all of you for your comments and feedback, greatly appreciated! :D I'll try to find the time to come play your game and leave a feedback/ratings for those I haven't already!

@adhesion Thanks for your comment! You're totally right about the level design! We came up too late with it, at first I was aiming to have it done by the day of the first day but I totally underestimated the amount of work it is to be a solo dev with 3 artists in a game jam ahaha And same for controller support in the menus, it was on my list but lacked some time :x

@clemzd Oh right, I didn't thought it could lead to this misunderstanding, I guess we were so into the game that we didn't notice it. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

@aviland Thanks for your feedback! For the scoreboard I used dreamlo, I highly recommend it for jams/personnal projects! It's free super easy to use, and if you're using Unity there's a free plugin on the Asset Store and in like 5 minutes you got a scoreboard your game! :)

@madjackmcmad That's exactly the same thing I thought when I test for the first time the controls I just coded ahaha Oh damn I forgot to change a value, it should have been Top 10.. :/ So for the scoreboard I used dreamlo, super simple to use and if you're using Unity there's a free plugin on the asset store which make it even easier to use! :)

madjackmcmad 2017-12-11 21:51

Dreamloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it's super best, good call.

wakka2 2017-12-18 22:30

Wow the game looks amazing. Well done! I only wished it had better performance and less laggy controls (but I guess that’s intended)
